Chapter 2 - CHAPTER TWO: ESCAPE FROM HELL

In a dungeon, devoid of light, and sound, with nothing but the haunt of your past whispering to your ears. The dungeon was made in the best way possible to deprive one of comfort, the floor cold and hard, the air putrid and filled with decay and a sense of helplessness. A man who once stayed within the dungeon for a week, described it as hell, the thoughts of his time in the dungeon, enough to make him go mad. Within this dungeon was a young boy, bounded with chains like an animal, the cuts, bruises, burnt, scars and marks provided evidence of the painful and agonizing torture the child had gone through, broken toes, forcefully removed toenails and fingernails through the use of torturing tools to pull it off, bursted lips, burnt skin, from using red hot metals, cuts that was made to inflict the most pain in the slowest way possible. Arthur had gone through all kinds of torture in the hands of his uncle Duke Bonifacius, for over two years since the unfortunate incident that took his family from him. Every day had been an introduction of one torture to another. The fate of the boy a dark contrast to the beauty of the world that people portray. The boy suffered so much pain, but yet, he refused to be broken, yet he refused to give in to the satisfaction of his uncle. Beg? That was a word that could never be found in his dictionary, plead for mercy? He would never ask of that from his family's enemies. He will be the one to hear such words from them, not him saying it to them. Revenge was the only thing keeping the boy alive and allowing him to preserve and endure the torture. The courage and endurance of the young child, the mental fortitude of the 12 years old boy was enough to put a wise sage to shame, it was enough to make a monk hide his face. Slowly, like the whisper of terror, the sound of footsteps, could be heard walking slowly towards the dungeon that Arthur was in. Arthur didn't even bother to open his eyes and anticipate for the arrival, the daily routine of torture already a norm for the young child. The dungeon was slowly unlocked, but the eyes of Arthur remained shut. "You look pitiful, seeing you still alive after all this torture earns nothing but respect from me," a calm composed voice said, not an ounce of good will or evil laced in the voice. Arthur slowly lifted his head and looked at the bearer of the unfamiliar voice. "That's surprising, it will definitely be a lie if I said I was expecting someone else other than that piece of shit. He never allowed anyone here, ever since I was locked here. What's so special about today?" Arthur said calmly, no emotion could be detected from his voice. "Hmmm, it seems everything that happened to you still has an effect, to think a twelve year old boy can speak in such manner without showing any emotion, well I would be surprised if you still were able to show any emotion other than anger or sadness," the unknown man said once again. "Well, the answer to your question, Duke, no, Emperor Bonifacius von Limus is quite busy with his meeting and won't be arriving soon, but he's definitely going to show up to relieve some stress with his toy. In as much as I would like to chat with you, there's no time, we have to escape now, if there is to be hope of leaving here without being caught." Arthur was surprised after hearing the man's word. He finally slowly started having hope, but he crushed it immediately. "If this is a new way of gaining satisfaction, it won't work, stupid man, I won't fall for it." The unknown man was intrigued at Arthur's words and composure. Even when there was hope of escape, the boy still remained rational. Perhaps the tortures and the unfortunate event has shaped the boy in a way that no one could have imagined. The unknown man shrugged his shoulder before walking towards Arthur and unlocking the chains that bound Arthur. "Well, you can think what ever you want, but I don't have all the time in the world to convince you or make you believe me. Besides, you have gone through a lot of torture, so just take this one as another one. You escape, good for you, it's a trap, then that sucks, it's better to have a chance than stay here and continue being tortured like an animal." Arthur looked at the man, before nodding softly. He tried to stand, but they was no energy in his body, his leg have up on him. Arthur face showed nothing but annoyance. The unknown man stared at Arthur, sighed and lifted Arthur to his shoulder. He carried the bloodied Arthur and escaped the dungeon. His movement was swift and quiet, he moved like a shadow in the dead of the night, the patrolling guards unable to notice him. He easily escaped the castle and walked until he was close to a carriage with goods. He dropped Arthur down and placed him within a hidden section of the carriage. "Try to remain as quiet as you can, definitely won't be a difficult job for you," he said emotionlessly. Arthur didn't say a word and just remained silent. The unknown man didn't say anything and just smiled, he covered the hidden place and mounted the horse. He controlled the horse and moved towards the city gate. After inspection he was allowed to leave, Arthur escaping from the city, but it was clear it won't be the last time he stayed in the city.

The guard knelt before Emperor Bonifacius, he was about to report a news to the emperor that might warrant his life, but before he could utter a word, he heard the Emperor spoke. "He escaped huh, well I guess things should be interesting from here." The guard was shocked beyond believe. How did the Emperor know, it was as if he was expecting Arthur to escape. Questions immediately began to fill his head. What was Emperor Bonifacius cooking, what was he planning?
