Chapter 2 - chapter one

He stood there and scanned the crowd, his gaze locked with mine, and a strange warmth spread through me, making the noise of the crowd fade into silence. It was as if we were the only two people in the room. He stepped down from the stage and started walking towards me. I got scared, I wanted to run to hide from the intensity of his stare.

But at the same time, a part of me craved to know why he was looking at me like that. He walked to where I was standing and stopped. I closed my eyes waiting to hear the words "I, Lucian Blackthorn, reject you" but they never came. I opened my eyes and saw him still staring at me.

"What's your name?" he asked.

"Van... Van... Vanessa... mm... Morgan," I stammered.

"Vanessa Morgan." Hearing him pronounce my name made electricity go through my body.

"Aren't you going to reject me?" I asked.

"Now why would I do that?" he said with a smirk on his face.

"Come on, let's go home."

"Ok. Give me a minute to go fetch my bag," I said and turned to go get my bag.

"no. lets go now. I have things to do. my beta will get you clothes when we get home".

I looked around the room and realized everyone was staring at us. Most of the looks I was getting were looks of pity. They kept staring at me and murmuring. As I followed him to his car, the whispers of the crowd faded into the background. But deep in my chest, a question burned: was I walking toward salvation or something far more dangerous"?

FEW HOURS LATER.

We arrived at the park[wraithclaw circle]. the car stopped and everyone got down. With the stories I heard for years I thought the park would look like some kind of prison camp or something, nothing prepared me for the beautiful buildings and scenery I was seeing right now.

"luke show her to her room" he said to his beta and left.

"this way luna"

"luna"? the word felt foreign in my tongue, heavy with implications I wasn't ready to face. Could I really belong here after everything? I thought to myself.

"yes. You are the alpha's mate making you our luna"

I nodded and quietly followed him. Every building we passed on our way looked perfect, their flawless glasswork blended with the natural beauty of the surrounding trees. Each step I took made my eyes wide with disbelieve-----this wasn't just a pack, it awas KINGDOM.

They all left me in awe. The building we were approaching looked like something out of a drawing. We went inside and it was amazing. He took me to a room upstairs. Luke's voice was calm, but his gaze lingered for a moment longer that necessary before he turned to leave. "that's your room, luna," he said, his tone polite yet distant. "There are already some clothes there for you to wear for now" he said and left.

I opened the door and I gasped. The king-sized bed was right in the middle of the room, the maroon sheets looked soft as velvet, their deep color contrasting beautifully with the light streaming through the windows. The faint scent of lavender hung in the air, calming yet strange in this unfamiliar place.

The dresser was so beautiful with a gigantic mirror. The closet was bigger that the room I was staying at my former pack. The bathroom was so big and sparkling. I might as well enjoy these in case he kills me later.

THIRTY MINUTES LATER.

I came out of the bathroom feeling refreshed. I saw the clothes I was supposed to put on on the bed. It was a fiery red shift dress that hits just above the knee. Slipping into the dress, I turned to the mirror. The fiery red fabric seemed to light up my black hair, brown eyes, and pale skin. I ran my fingers through my thick black hair, watching as it shimmered under the light. My brown eyes held a mix of fear and curiosity, as if the girl staring back at me was someone entirely new. This was the first time I almost thought of myself as beautiful.

As I turned away from the mirror, a knock on the door startled me. Before I could respond, the door creaked open, and there he was. Lucian stood in the doorway, his piercing gaze sweeping over me like a silent question.
