Chapter 2 - Chapter 1 : The light

Life, sometimes it can be happy or sad, I guess it depends on what type of person you are, or what you like or don't like, or the situation you are in.

As for me, I don't know it myself, but one thing I'm sure of is that life is nothing against death. No one can escape it.

"Evelyn, are you sure about this?" Gigi asked me from the other side of the phone, I sighed, this is the tenth time she has asked me this, she still treats me like a child that needs to be protected, for fucks sake I'm 22.

"Just because you used to live there doesn't mean you have to go back to that house," she continued. God, not this again.

I visibly winched at her words "well THAT house is where you also grow up" I spat back at her pissed, don't judge me I don't hate her or anything on the contrary I love her, she took care of me when no one else wanted me after my parents death.

it's just that she can go overboard sometimes, I mean, it's not a big deal. I'm just moving back to our old house, which she hates for some reason I'm not allowed to know.

"Don't worry so much, Gigi," I assure her, then quickly hang up the phone because if not, this argument is gonna continue for hours.

"Miss, we have arrived at your destination," said the driver of the taxi, that I'm in right now, shit I totally forgot he was there, "Oh, yeah," i say, embarrassed.

Um, Awkward.

I pay the driver and get out of the car, and there to welcome me stands the place I have practically spent my whole childhood in, and as hell I'm happy to return too.

the Everhart Manor, a typical victorian style house, covered in spider webs, and all kinds of plants that are practically growing from everywhere.

It looks like I'll be busy for quite a while.

I mentally sigh. It's gonna be a lot of work to renovate.

I take a deep breath, taking in the comforting scent of rain and grass. It looks like it rained here not quite long ago, The house has begun decaying The imposing structure stands tall, its weathered bricks, and intricate details telling tales of a bygone era.

The front of the house featured a sprawling wrap-around porch, styled with ornate railings, and delicate black coloured scrollwork in every corner.

adding an air of elegance to the already grand façade but also excluding a gloomy aura that makes my hair rise. leaded glass, and delicate long red lace curtains were hung on the windows.

hah, I still remember vividly when I used to play hide and seek in the house with Gigi, and I'd always hide behind them, but she'd always find me.

The entire house itself was coloured with dark colours and was mostly covered in Vines, a lush greenery surrounded the manor making it blend perfectly with the vibrant forest behind it, it looks like it's out of a horror movie.

And fuck do I love that.

And you know what, I don't give a shit about what anyone else thinks, and besides this place is perfect for a nature loving artist and part-time writer like me.

I quickly walk up the porch and take the key from underneath the mat and try to unlock the rusty door that won't even butch, but after a little struggle I managed to open it and as I walked in a chilling breeze and cozy scent welcomes me, that makes a shiver run down my spine.

The interior of the house is all covered in darkness; only little rays of the Sunlight enter through the windows.

I look up, and a spike of nostalgia covers my heart, remembering the memories as I take another deep breath, taking in the scent of old coloured paint and wood.
