Chapter 44 - Shinji inverted world (44)

"It's my turn already," he muttered. He got up, still with a lazy look on his face, and walked toward Sora.

"Your control over Reishi is great..." the man added. Sora felt like something was off, as if Shinji was preparing something.

"Well, I already saw how strong you are, so no need for the fight without Shikai..."

The man's blade began to spin rapidly.

"Collapse, Sakanade."

As those words left the Vizard's mouth, his Zanpakutō began to spin.

The pommel of his blade became a large ring that allowed Sakanade to rotate around Shinji's hand without him actually gripping any part of his Zanpakutō. The first few inches of the blade were covered by an extension of the cross-guard. The blade was straight and slim, with the tip ending in a slanted razor-like edge instead of being tapered to a point. There were five holes along the sword's length.

The man spun the blade around.

Sora felt something was off; he smelled something sweet in the air.

"Smell that sweet aroma?" Shinji added as Sora held his breath.

"No need to hold your breath now. The second you breathe in the sweet aroma of Sakanade, you'll be under its effect. Your world is about to flip upside down."

Sora felt his senses being messed with—up became down, left became right, and right became left.

"Welcome to my inverted world," Shinji said with a smile on his face.

He then rushed toward Sora, swinging his blade. Sora launched an attack back, aiming to hit him; however, a slash mark appeared on Sora's body.

He didn't even get his attack remotely close to Shinji.

Once again, as Shinji attacked, Sora aimed to strike him down, this time using his left side to parry the attack coming from the right.

However, he hit nothing, and another wound appeared on his body.

"There is no escaping it. My Inverted World inverts everything—your sense of direction, your sight, even where your wounds are located. The more battle experience you have, the harder it is to deal with because your body's innate reflexes make it even more difficult for you to block my attacks."

Well, that was helpful.

"So... I can't win," Sora added.

"Well, you catch on pretty quickly," Shinji said with a smile.

Sora sighed a bit. He didn't think he would need to use it, but this hack ability needed a counter.

"It's such a shame that you met me today."

Shinji's brow furrowed at that. He wondered what the kid was babbling about.

Did he hit him too hard?

A wheel suddenly appeared above Sora's head. The next thing Shinji saw shocked him—Sora proceeded to do something no one had ever done after learning of his Shikai ability.

Sora took a deep breath, practically inhaling all the air around him.

Was the boy insane? Did he think that if the mist was gone, the effect would disappear? Didn't he know that it was because he inhaled the mist that Sakanade's ability took effect in the first place?

The very next second, as Sora was done with it, the wheel above his head spun twice.

The very next second, Sora made eye contact with Shinji and rushed toward him.

Being on alert, Shinji instinctively launched an attack—after all, the boy's senses were still inverted.

Clang!

Shinji's eyes widened a bit as Sora parried his attack before going for him.

Shinji jumped back in order to avoid any damage, but Sora was hot on his ass, and the boy seemed to be purposefully inhaling the air.

Was he perhaps overloading his system? That was a plausible theory. The mist did need some time to take effect, so by inhaling such a huge amount, his body must be in some sort of state of shock. The inversion must be so intense that it just made his perception shift back to normal.

TL;DR: Just like how two negatives make a positive, maybe by inhaling so much, he was able to get out of it.

That was Shinji's thought for now. However, this did not make sense.

Shinji did notice what seemed to be a pink mist leaving Sora's nose.

Did the boy inhale such a huge amount to analyze and find a way to remove it from his body?

He was a Quincy. Dealing with spiritual energy was his craft, so did he perhaps analyze it and then just eject everything that wasn't his own Reiryoku out of his body?

Could work. The boy had already shown that he had insane control over Reishi.

As the fight went on, Shinji realized something—none of those theories were working.

The first two spins gave the boy two things.

The first spin allowed his sensory processing to begin compensating for the inverted directions. His brain had started recalibrating visual and proprioceptive feedback to recognize the "new normal" within the flipped world.

The second spin helped him develop reflexive movement patterns that counteracted the inversion. His body instinctively "corrected" for the flipped environment without requiring conscious thought.

From the way things were going, the boy would only need two more spins before becoming completely immune to Shinji's Shikai.

Though Shinji wondered—did this ability need a catalyst to continue? Or was it that once the adaptation started, it wouldn't stop until it was finished? If Sora got hit more, would that just result in faster adaptation?

Well, time for a test drive.

Shinji swiped his hand over his face, and as he did so, his Hollow Mask appeared.

His mask resembled a pharaoh's mask, with a short, flowing hood hanging down the back of his neck. When donning his Hollow Mask, his sclera turned completely black, and his irises became gray.

A/N, If all the Vizards jump Sora he loses, if they all jump him intending to kill and not hold back, he loses.

If they don't go for the kill, he will win, I repeat no one wants a drawn-out fight with him.

His ability is still in its young year, give it time and it will get better.

So far…..for Watppad both hollow and Geto Fullbring are equal
