Chapter 2 - ~Leila~

There was a time that this home felt so warm and so full of happiness but now it was like an empty shell, so cold. I smile at the memories of the times James came from work early and I would cook for him as he told me how his day was. Oh, I wish that those times didn't stop but they did, and when I asked him why he said he was too busy. He hadn't touched me for over a year which for some time made me think that he was having an affair but after snooping through his phone and directly asking him my suspicions were erased. I went ahead and made him dinner set the table and waited for him. An hour passed and still no sign of him. Why do I even bother it's well past midnight and here I am waiting for a man who hasn't even been home for dinner for a long time. When did I start accepting the bare minimum? If my family and friends were to know how I'm treated here they'd be beyond shocked. Jules' words kept playing in my head and at that very moment, I decided to do things differently. I took the food to the kitchen and headed upstairs to bed. It was almost daybreak when I heard James' footsteps and this time I didn't bother to get up to greet him and prepare his bath. He went on ahead and did everything and left once again, always in such a hurry. I get up from the bed and pick up the clothes he dropped on the floor and I notice a red lipstick stain on his collar. I held the shirt and stared at it hoping I was hallucinating but I wasn't it was right there all bright staring at me. I took a sniff and I could smell women's perfume that was definitely not mine. I put the clothes in the laundry, head downstairs, and call Jules. "Can we meet up?" She sends me a location and I hurry there and immediately she opens the door to her hotel room, the tears that I'd been holding spill. "He's cheating on me that two-timing jerk is cheating on me Jules I mean I did think about that last year but he looked me dead in the eye and told me I was reading too much into things" Jules just holds me there in silence as she listens to me rant and bowl my eyes out. "What are you going to do about it now" "I really don't know Jules I feel so foolish, betrayed and confused. All of this makes me wonder is that where he has been getting some for over a year now he must have been laughing behind my back when I actually believed him" After talking to Jules and eating tons of ice cream I leave and go back home. Jules had initially told me to spend the night but I'd declined. I pick up the phone and call Joe, a friend who's also a hacker. I ask him to track James' location for the past year and send it to me as soon as possible. After an hour or so I receive an email from Joe and it seems that James has been frequenting another house for the past year owned by a Sierra Brown who also happens to be his secretary. I see red.
