Chereads / Adrift (Kim Possible) / Chapter 2 - Ch.02

Chapter 2 - Ch.02

Ron didn't know how to find Shego at first. He had started running hoping to find security personnel or a control room but seven minutes later he was starting to sweat after destroying a set of robots, again, with nothing to show for it.

Desperation creeping into his thoughts Ron focused the MMP on finding another living being first. A couple of tense seconds later and he got two readings, one three floors up judging by the distance from floor to ceiling and the other a few corridors to his left. Seeing as he was closer to the one on his floor, Ron chose to go to that one first. A few turns later and Ron rushed into a medical bay and found Shego unbound but laying on the bed unresponsive.

"Shego!" Ron yelled upon seeing her. "Great, you're okay. Now come on we're getting out of here."

"Leave me I'll only slow you down." Shego said barely above a whisper.

"What are you talking about?" Ron asked. "Did Warmonga do something to you?"

"Can't you see!?" Shego shouted and Ron flinched expecting a plasma blast when he saw the familiar glow.

When nothing happened Ron walked closer and asked. "What happened?"

No answer.

Ron finally noticed the hologram models displaying various robots. "Why is Warmonga showing you cleaning bots?" He asked.

Again no answer but this time he had an idea as to what could have happened. With that thought in mind Ron waited a moment and acted. Ron wasn't sure if he was happy to finally connect the dots or shocked at what happened to Shego.

Shego, Kim's nemesis was paralyzed and if he remembered right, Kim herself might be responsible. Now he understood what she meant by slow him down and why she was being shown cleaning bots, that was her prize after having told Warmonga everything but Ron couldn't blame her. For Shego who relied and counted on her body to suddenly find herself paralyzed must be the thing of nightmares. Add that to the fact that he touched her arm and she didn't react, Ron could assume that it was from the neck down.

"I'm not leaving you here." Ron said and scooped Shego into his arms.

Shego was too shocked to react at first but in moments got her wits back. "Leave me, you can already tell I'm useless."

"No." Ron simply said and started to run, now looking for an exit.

"So what, big bad sidekick wants revenge on the crippled?" Shego asked with such venom that it caused Ron to stumble.

"You and I both know that's not true, Shego!" Ron countered.

"Then why are you bringing me along? I'm of no use to anybody." Shego replied adding. "Unless it's for some sick fantasy."

"What?! No!" Ron yelled. "I'm just not letting you get turned into a cleaning bot just because Warmonga says nothing can be done!" And added. "I'll fix your spine myself!"

Shego's eyes widened, here she was stuck in an alternate universe with the sidekick of all people and he was promising to help her quite literally get back on her feet.

"I'll hold you to that, Stoppable." Shego replied solemnly.

Unknown Location, same time as Ron triggered the alarms at the holding facility.

"We got activity in one of the Great Blue's holding cells!" A male voice called out.

"We have no one that's been captured, must be a trap." Another man replied coming closer to inspect the screens.

"It's the same one Warmonga took whatever came out of that portal." The previous voice added. "It's worth investigating."

"We are too far for anything covert and doing otherwise would cost lives. IT IS NOT WORTH THE RISK!" The second one insisted.

"But what if..." The first one started to argue but was interrupted.

"You want to do something so bad? Fine! Send it to her, she'll check it out." The second one conceded.

"Her! You know she hasn't been the same since we lost to the Great Blue." The first voice said astonished.

"It's either you contact her or we do nothing." The second man said then added. "Now choose."

"Fine, but I'm telling her it was your idea." The first man agreed.

~~~
At a bar three clicks away from the where Ron and Shego are.
"What do you want?" A woman's voiced growled irritably at her communications unit.
"There's activity near your location that Number One wants you to look into." The same man that discovered activity at the holding facility reported.
"What's that got to do with me?" She asked.
"It's where whatever came out of that portal was taken." The man answered.
There was a moment of silence before she spoke. "Any idea what IT was?"
"No luck so far." The man replied.
Another moment of silence. "Fine, I'll bite."
After those words the woman hung up, finished her drink and left the bar.
Ron struggled to find a way out of the holding facility till he decided to literally smash his way out. Ron started smashing walls in one direction hoping to run into a window or a dead end. To his surprise he found a dead end that now provided a spectacular view.
Ron could instantly tell they were about ten floors up. At first he had no immediate answer as to how to escape though he could tell that if he was alone he could scale down but carrying Shego, Ron knew that wasn't an option. As he looked around, Ron remembered something that Master Sensei did a while back.
Just as Ron was about to let Shego know his plan and it's risk, she spoke up. "Don't tell me that you can't see the only choice you have?"
"What do you mean?" Ron asked momentarily thrown off.
"Leave me behind and scale down. I know you should be able to do it." Shego explained.
"Yes I can but I'm still not leaving you behind." Ron said. "Now be careful not to bite your tongue."
With those words and no warning, Ron jumped with Shego in his arms.
"So you chose suicide?" Shego yelled as they plummeted towards the ground bellow.
Ron didn't respond as he focused on what he was doing. It was passing the third floor that he glowed blue and their momentum slowed to a soft landing.
Shego stared at Ron making him self conscious but it seemed she couldn't find the words to talk to him. Resisting the urge to ask what was on her mind, Ron looked around and saw that the nearest building was around a hundred yards away taunting the distance to freedom. Ron knew he could easily loose persuers in the city though he couldn't recognize the city to any he remembered. Ten floors up he came up with nothing and being on the ground didn't bring any inspiration.
"Off we go." Ron said and began sprinting towards the building in the distance.
Ten yards in, Ron's senses felt his body dip lower than expected and he knew he was moments away from a very dangerous dilemma. No time to overthink, Ron dove forwards while being careful to cradle Shego's head and body since she would be forced to bounce around with him and looked to where he was just in time to see an energy barrier that radiated enough heat to dry his eyes instantly and begin to fill the space he'd just been in.
"That is just as scary as a minefield." Ron exclaimed and stood up. "You okay Shego?"
"Peachy, now start moving before we turn to ashes." Shego replied.
"What do y...?" Ron began to question when another energy barrier sprang up at his back close enough that his hair ignited. "Ahhhh!" Ron yelled and took off faster than he ever moved before. He was forced to jump, zigzag, back track and flip his way across the next sixty meters before he cleared the the energy field. "Phew, that was something." Ron said feeling his heart hammer in his chest.
"Your hair is on fire." Shego simply reminded.
"Ahhh!" Ron yelled and knelt down so that he could balance Shego on his knee and use his right hand to put out the fire at the back of his head. "Thanks."
"Sure, now get us out of sight before we have company." Shego replied.
A few seconds later and Ron had passed the building and into the city, taking a few turns to check for pursuers and when he spotted none he jogged further into the side streets and back alleys.
"Any ideas where we are?" Ron asked Shego still not recognizing the city.
"That would be Middleton." A woman's voiced answered him.
"How can you tell?" Ron asked not realizing it wasn't Shego who spoke.
"Stoppable that wasn't me." Shego said in a strangely calm voice.
Ron tensed, standing slowly with Shego in his arms. Turning he saw a woman he hadn't been expecting holding him at gunpoint. "Dr. Director?!"
~~~

Elizabeth Director more commonly known as Dr Director and head of Global Justice before the era of the Great Blue began was not expecting to run into Ronald Dean Stoppable and Sheila Go or commonly known as Shego.

Dr Director held her gun steady on Ron's heart as she warily observed them. Shego was limp in Ron's arms to a degree that Dr Director found unnatural. And Ron stood tall with a serious look that had her wondering if he'd attack if she so much as lowered the gun.

Thinking back to the call minutes earlier, Dr Director could not have expected what stood before her now. She had rushed to the site of the alarms and after careful consideration chose to observe from a distance thinking it might be a trap. A few minutes in the wall on the tenth floor blasted out and she focused on it. There stood the impossible, Ron and Shego. As Dr Director watched he jumped bringing them plummeting towards the ground. Then the unbelievable happened, Ron glowed blue and they landed safely on the ground.

That had stupefied Dr Director but she continued to watch as Ron maneuvered his way around the security measures that surrounded the facility. By the time Ron and Shego were nearing the nearest building Dr Director let loose a fly drone to track them and followed from a safe distance. The feed was displayed directly in front of her eye behind the eye patch showing her exactly where to go. Then as she watched Ron trying to figure out his location she approached and the current situation arose.

As she was thinking to herself, Dr Director couldn't help but wonder what was the ploy behind the two dead people being in front of her right now, what could the Great Blue be after?

"Dr Director, mind lowering the gun?" Asked Ron, but the focus Dr Director could see in his eyes didn't let her relax. "As you can see I'm unarmed." He added.

Thinking and thinking, going in circles over what could possibly be afoot was getting Dr Director nowhere and she knew she needed to move if she hoped to get to the bottom of things.

Dr Director still holding eye contact with Ron pulled the trigger and a couple a tranquilizers shot at Ron and Shego. Dr Director idly noticed that Shego's reaction was mere norrowing of the eyes but what took precedence was Ron's look of concentration before tranquilizer struck him.

"... Damn... I ..I knew... too many... things we..re going my... way!" Ron exclaimed having failed in whatever he wanted to do. The fact that he manage a sentence shocked Dr Director since the tranquilizer was potent enough to drop an eraged elephant in a split second.

Watching Ron titer left and right before falling backwards Dr Director saw him cushion Shego before impact and shortly falling unconscious.

"What's next?" Shego asked her but Dr Director merely stared and fired another tranquilizer.

The situation was giving Dr Director a headache. Reaching behind her she brought out cuffs and put them on Ron's left wrist and Shego's right. Dr Director would have preferred one for each but she currently didn't have a spare and the cuffs were necessarily if she wanted to avoid the Great Blue's pursuers since they'll interfere with any tracking chips the two might have.

Sighing at all the grunt work to come, Dr Director left the fly drone watching them and went to get transport. She was back in minutes in a run of the mill sedan and stuffed both Ron and Shego into the trunk sweating and cursing under her breath.

~~~
Shego woke up shortly after Ron, not surprising considering she was hit with twice the dosage. What was surprising was finding his face not an inch from hers. Biting back the need to curse, Shego took a deep breath and tries to look around unsuccessfully.
"Where are we?" She finally asked.
At the sound of her voice Ron finally seemed to notice she was awake.
"Shego, glad you're okay." Ron said and asked. "What was that? I didn't quite catch it."
"I asked where we were, Stoppable?" Shego said.
"From what I gathered, a car trunk. Dr Director must be moving us somewhere and seems to lack Global Justice resources." Ron explained.
"Figures Global Justice is no more with the world under the Great Blue's control." Shego admitted.
"On another note, it seems like Dr Director is not working for the Great Blue." Ron said.
"That's something to wonder, who is she working for?" Shego asked.
There was a change in the speed of the car and they started taking turns. Not five minutes later they stopped altogether.
"I guess we're about to find out." Ron said.
A moment later the trunk opened to Dr Director once again pointing a gun at them.
"You must be the life of the party." Shego taunted.
Then gun focused on Shego.
"Where are we this time?" Ron asked.
Dr Director regarded Ron's unusually calm demeanor and answered. "Lowerton."
"Not as far as I thought." Ron mused aloud.
"I was thinking something similar." Dr Director admitted. "You at least were supposed to be out cold, Stoppable."
"Fast metabolism?" Ron asked back.
"Or because the powers you wield?" Dr Director asked back and Ron simply stayed silent. "That aside I don't want to carry your unconscious forms again so I'll make you a deal. I'll let you stay conscious and you cooperate. What do you say?"
Ron knew that was the best thing if he and Shego hoped to get out of on his terms. Then he locked gazes with Shego and he could have sworn the woman's look screamed 'Duh!'.
"Okay," Ron agreed, "but I want some answers."
"Deal but only when I say so." Dr Director agreed. "For now you're both to remain quiet."
~~~

Dr Director was surprised by Ron's attitude. The young man was doing his level best to keep himself and Shego safe and his secrets, a secret. This was a side of him that the Ron Factor research missed altogether and it let her know that he was more astute than her research team deduced.

After a quick look of confirmation Ron got out of the trunk and turned to pick up Shego. It seemed a bit awkward at first but Ron got it done after putting Shego in a princess carry with the arm linking them together twisted behind her back.

"This way." Dr Director pointed deeper into the alley and followed a step behind them. "Walk up to the wall on the right." Ron did and stopped just before it. "A step to the right and then walk right through."

Ron slipped a foot ahead of himself and when it seemed to disappear he followed through careful to avoid hurting Shego. Following right after him Dr Director heard him say. "Cool though the welcome could use some improvements."

Ron indeed had a point as the welcome consisted of a highly sofisticated high caliber automated machine gun. When she was fully inside, a gate closed the entryway and the platform they were standing on began to decend. Five minutes later it came to a stop and Dr Director carefully stepped back keeping her eyes on Ron.

"We're here, follow me and don't do anything suspicious or we'll be dead before you blink." Dr Director warned.

Ron took his eyes of the machine gun, turned around and followed Dr Director, his eyes darting around for information. From what he could gather the whole tunnel was a death trap and Dr Director hadn't lied. The tunnel had enough means to watch him going from visual, auditory to even thermal. A minute or two into the tunnel they came to what amounted to a vault door but with no means to open it from the outside.

After a moment of silence a voice was heard from hidden speakers. "Dr Director, what brings you to me accompanied by dead people?"

'Dead?' Ron wondered.

"I need them checked for tracking devices, traces of mind control and if they are clones." Dr Director replied.

"Hmm, I see." Was all the voice said before Ron's sight went black and noise faded away.

~~~
When next Ron woke, he was secured onto a metal table with Shego across from him on a similar table.
"How long was I out?" Ron asked Shego seeing as she was awake.
"Not sure but I've been up for five minutes." Shego said uncharacteristically softly.
Noticing, Ron was about to ask about it when a robot rolled in vaguely reminding him of a Wade bot and started strapping helmets on each of them. Starting to wonder about the headgear, a video with audio started that had Ron confused as to its point. Two hours later the helmet was removed from both Shego and him leaving both confused as to its purpose.
Not five minutes later, the voice was heard from speakers around the room. "You're not clones, had three tracking devices between the two of you, though one from a different source and had you'd been mind controlled the video would have turned your brains to mush, so you're clean."
Ron saw Shego's eyes widened at that revelation.
"So what now?" Ron asked.
"Now you explain how you're alive, both of you!" The voice demanded.
"That's easy but you're not gonna believe us." Ron said after looking at Shego and seeing her show no sings to take charge.
"Try me." The voice said.
"We, Shegoand me are not your Ron and Shego." Ron said trying to be vague.
"That's not gonna cut it." The voice said, explaining. "Genetically you're both identical to OUR Ron and Shego. Difference being her injury and the fact you're alive."
"You want the facts?" Ron asked.
"Obviously." The voice responded.
"Okay then, feed us and I'll tell you everything we know." Ron said as his stomach growled in hunger. "It's a simple request and you'll have our full cooperation."
There was a minute of silence before the voice responded. "Very well, I'll have a bot feed you and then we'll resume our conversation."
"Thank you."
~~~

"What do you think?" As Dr Director.

"Not sure but I'm intrigued by his comment of not being OUR Ron and Shego." Wade who was behind the disembodied and slightly distorted voice said.

"What could he have possibly meant?" Wondred Dr Director.

"Don't know but it must be one hell of a story." Wade commented.

~~~
After being fed two nutritional shakes that had everything from fiber to vitamins Ron felt his hunger settle. Looking at Shego after she finished her own and nodded Ron said. "Okay so I assume you're listening. Shego and I are not from this dimension. We were brought here through the Pan Dimensional Vortex Inducer that Drakken had stolen, yet again, in his plans to conquer the world. As usual Team Possible was called in to stop it and with the fate of the world, maybe even our entire dimension, on the line we confronted Drakken. As quite literally everything was falling apart around us I believe we succeeded but at a price. Shego had been kicked away with enough force to go through the portal and in my attempt to prevent that I ended up joining her. Now the trip here was not pleasant by any means and my instincts told me that had I not intervened on Shego's behalf she wouldn't be alive right now and though my powers would have ensured my safety I risked it all to save her. After an indefinite amount of time we crossed over and the first thing I see on arrival was Warmonga's visage before promptly passing out in exhaustion."
Ron took a deep breath and then hearing no reply continued. "The next thing I know I'm being woken up by a high voltage of electricity going through my system. Then I was interrogated for the very information that I just willingly gave you. After the interrogation I saved as much strength as I could and made our escape. Just when I thought we were safe and I was trying to get my bearing Dr Director appeared and events led us here. Now I know this is hard to believe but we need to get our hands on the P.D.V.I. or the multiverse could very well be in danger of this Great Blue taking over everything."
"So you gave them the very information that put your dimension in danger and now you need our help to fix it?" The voice asked.
Ron didn't know how to respond. He felt indignant that the one behind the voice assumed he caved but at the same time he didn't want Shego upset that he ratted her out. Just as the silence was dragging Shego spoke. "I told Warmonga what she wanted to know."
"You?" The voice sounded skeptical.
"Yes, in exchange she had promised to fix my spine." Shego admitted.
"That's not the point!" Ron yelled. "We need to get the P.D.V.I. and destroy it before Warmonga and the Great Blue figure out how to use it."
"You would destroy the only thing that could possibly get you home?" The voice asked.
"Yes!" Ron instantly replied.
It was a few minutes later that Ron heard a reply in an all too familar voice. "Well Ron I'm impressed but what you're asking for is nowhere near as simple."
"Wade?!" Ron asked.
"Yeah." Wade simply said.
~~~

Warmonga had just arrived back at the holding facility to see the hole in the tenth floor. Gnashing her teeth in anger she landed her aircraft and exited beginning to issue commands as she headed towards the prison cells. Upon arriving she inspected the area and matching the security feeds followed Ron's route our of the facility.

Warmonga was just about to follow hoping to find any leads when a communication device at her wrist went off. Knowing it was the Great Blue's private line she answered immediately. "Great Blue, what do you command?"

The unmistakable voice of Drakken was heard reply. "I've arrived and I'm ready to hear of this plan to conquer the multiverse that you proposed."

"Ugh Great Blue... there's been a complication." Warmonga said after hesitating a moment.

"Explain!" Drakken commanded.

"I did get the prisoners to tell me what they knew and upon finding out how they got here by a device called the P.D.V.I. I went to retrieve it but upon arrival I was told the device had been destroyed, the creator was dead and no Blueprints remained." Warmonga said and took a deep breath before continuing. "On my way back I was alerted of the prisoners escaping and I've just begun trying to track them down."

"So you've failed." Drakken said simply. Fists clenching, Warmonga said nothing. "Matters not, the armadas are here so we can begin conquering this universe. Begin our plans to weed out the resistance groups on earth and then we will move on."

"Yes Great Blue!" Warmonga agreed.

Yori had just finished going through another priceless scroll containing history that the world had forgotten and sighed in despondent fury. Here she was learning the world's secret history while Ron-san could be fighting for his life.

Three months since Master Sensei allowed her entry into Yamanouchi's shrine and Yori had yet to uncovered a way to help Ron.

Just as her frustration was about to overflow Master Sensei's voice echoed through the room. "So what have you discovered, Yori?"

"Master Sensei, besides repeated mentions on how the lotus blade could be anything it's Master needed and how it's been used in defense of our school just alot of information on the events of those era." Yori said exasperated

"You mentioned that the Lotus Blade could be anything it's master needed?" Master Sensei asked to confirm.

"Yes, Master Sensei." Yori replied.

"Is that not a solution?" Asked Master Sensei.

"I thought of that but without Ron-san here to weild the Blade would remain unresponsive." Yori sighed. "I tried after the first time in came upon the words."

"Is there not another that might be persuaded to help Stoppable-san?" Master Sensei asked.

"Another...?" Yori repeated the question. "...! Rufus-san!"
