It was a calm Saturday afternoon a perfect time for one to grab a book , when Helen strolled to one of her favorite book stores in town .
The strong winds managed to get a hold of a few strands of her silky hair making it messy something she hated the most .
The moment she arrived at the store, she took a look at herself in the store's glass doors .
"Great, thanks alot wind" . She tried to fix her standing hair with her palm feeling completely disturbed with what she didn't expect to see.
After making an effort with fixing her hair into something similar to her previous hairstyle, she let out a huge sigh with a satisfied look across her face.
" This will do. " She said before making her way into the bookstore. It wasn't so big compared to the other book stores around town but the welcoming part of it made Helen grow interest for it.
Helen visited it twice or sometimes thrice a week simply because the owner brought in the kind of novels she enjoyed reading which also developed into a beautiful mutual friendship.
" Hey love, how are you?" Helen approached Sarah at the counter with a glorious smile across her face with arms wide open ready for a hug .
" Hmmm. I've missed you. It's been long" Sarah caressed Helen's back as she took in her scent seeming to enjoy the reunion.
" Your substitute isn't really nice you know". Helen broke the hug with her huge grin on her face showing complete disgust. "God l hated the way she used to treat us. So rude of her " she made her way to one of the rows of books.
"It's good I'm back honey. I really needed that vacation you know." Sarah followed her friend from the back as she also took a look at a few novels in the dark romance row .
" I needed a destruction after all" . Sarah gave off a sad impression probably still disturbed with the fact that her boyfriend Derrick had cheated on her putting an end to the 3 year relationship the two had shared.
She took a trip to Paris just to quench her anger and stay away from Derrick aswell before she could do something she would have regretted her whole life.
The two laughed about a couple of things and soon Helen was done with her selection.
The two made their way back to the counter and Sarah began packing the books for Helen to go.
" Can l ask you something? ." Sarah showed a disappointed look with her hand supporting her cheek immediately getting her friend's attention.
" Do l still have a chance... l mean .... Can l still... Huh forget it." Sarah gave up as she gave her question a second thought but Helena who had figured out what she wanted to say didn't hesitate to make her friend feel better." No girl, look at you" Helen took a step back and checked out her friend moving her eyes up and down Sarah's body. "No man would want to loose a chance of having someone wrapped in their arms like you".
"Really ". Sarah's eyes flushed with ecstasy feeling nothing but grateful to have a friend who knew exactly what she wanted to hear like Helen .
"Well a man like Derrick doesn't." She made an awkward face making Sarah giggle.
" Thanks Helen that's so nice of you. " Sarah handed the properly packed books to Helen.
" Alright honey I'll take my leave now. Looks like I've lost a few minutes on my reading time." Helen received the books and took a glance at the store's wall clock just above Sarah.
" Go on . I too have alot to see through. " Sarah swayed her hand in the air motioning for her to leave.
Helen wasted no minute and with just a simple smile at her friend , she left the store. She didn't have to pay for the books since Sarah treated her almost like her own sister. The two shared a unique and strong bond to the extent that Sarah's parents were Helen's like wise for Helen.
Helen had a very busy schedule that the only resting time she had in a week were Sunday church hours thanks to her sly boss that did everything all in the name of making her life hard. Infact not only for her but for other employees aswell.
However, Helen figured out a way she could work on her interests aswell as her boss' assignments in those provided hours.
Helen made her way to the near by cafe a stone's throw away from Sarah's bookstore somewhere else she always preferred reading her books in peace besides home.
She took a seat and ordered for a glass of mango juice just to make the reading interesting.
" Captured princess" she took a hold of one of the books carefully observing it with an impression that it might turn out to be interesting.
She had only covered a few pages when a lady's voice interrupted her." Dark romance huh". Helen raised her head facing where she had heard the voice.
Turns out it was an old lady who was holding a book in her hands aswell. " Yeah, how about you." She answered trying to make a good impression.
' How come l didn't see her there?' Helen wondered.
" Once upon a life time." The old lady answered with a huge smile on her face making Helen even more uncomfortable.
" Sounds interesting" Helen remarked politely.
" It's even better in person". The old lady added still holding the same impression leaving Helen puzzled with what she exactly meant. "Uhmm..." " You can have it" the old lady interrupted her as she looked for a suitable response to give the lady .
" Have it, All of a sudden?". Helen almost yelled and the old lady's smile immediately disappeared from her face. " I mean you were reading it" Helen added this time with a polite tone realizing her rude response to the lady.
" No my dear, this is like my hundredth time reading it . You can have it. Try it , it's really interesting." The lady left her seat to Helen's table offering the book to her.
' Reading from here was a bad idea'. Helen started feeling uncomfortable even more and decided to take the book just to get rid of the creepy old lady." Thanks alot, I'll try it". The moment Helen got the book from the old lady's hands, she wasted no minute of her life and immediately left the place with a smile plastered on her face just to not seem rude at the old lady.
/ Hey guys, this chapter was a little bit short as you it's my first. But I'm working on the interesting part before l present them to you /..
