Chapter 13 - Epilogue.

A New Dawn

The village of Eldenstone was alive with an energy Kael hadn't seen in years. Children darted through the streets, laughing as they chased each other. Smoke rose from chimneys, carrying the scent of freshly baked bread and roasting meat. It was a stark contrast to the tense, desperate place he had left behind what felt like a lifetime ago.

Kael stood at the edge of the central square, the beast at his side. Its fur gleamed in the sunlight, silver and radiant, as if the battle in the Wilds had only strengthened its spirit. Villagers gave it a wide berth, their expressions a mix of awe and trepidation.

"They're still afraid," Kael said softly, watching as a young girl quickly hid behind her mother.

Elira stepped up beside him, a faint smile playing on her lips. "Give them time. The bond is something most of them can't understand. But they'll see soon enough—it's not something to fear. It's something to protect."

Kael glanced at her, noting the weariness in her eyes. The battles they had fought together had taken a toll, but her resolve remained unshaken. "And what about you?" he asked. "Are you staying?"

Elira hesitated, her gaze drifting to the horizon. "The Wilds still have secrets—dangers we don't fully understand. I need to keep searching, Kael. The Forgotten may be gone for now, but their darkness lingers. If they rise again, we'll need to be ready."

Kael nodded, understanding the weight of her decision. "I'll keep the bond safe while you're gone. Eldenstone will stand strong."

She placed a hand on his shoulder, her grip firm. "I know it will. You've proven yourself, Kael. Not just to the bond, but to the people who depend on you. They'll follow your lead."

For a moment, neither spoke, the weight of their shared experiences hanging between them. Then Elira stepped back, her golden eyes meeting his one last time. "Take care of yourself, Beastbound."

Kael watched as she disappeared into the crowd, her figure blending into the bustling village. He felt a pang of loss but knew this wasn't goodbye.

Turning back to the beast, Kael reached out and rested a hand on its side. The connection between them pulsed faintly, a steady reassurance that they were never truly alone. "We've got work to do," he murmured.

The beast huffed softly, its eyes scanning the square as if understanding his words.

Weeks passed, and life in Eldenstone slowly began to transform. The crops, once withered and barren, now thrived under the bond's influence. The forest that had once been a source of fear became a place of cautious exploration, its dangers tempered by Kael's presence.

Villagers began to approach him—not with fear, but with curiosity and gratitude. The bond had become a symbol of hope, its light banishing the shadows that had plagued their lives for so long.

One evening, as the sun dipped below the horizon, Kael found himself at the edge of the Wilds. The forest seemed different now, its energy less hostile, more inviting. The beast stood beside him, its gaze fixed on the distant trees.

Kael took a deep breath, the cool evening air filling his lungs. "This is just the beginning," he said, more to himself than to the beast.

The bond pulsed in response, a silent agreement that their journey was far from over.

Kael turned back toward the village, a faint smile on his lips. He didn't know what the future held, but he was ready to face it—together with the bond and the beast.

As the stars began to appear in the darkening sky, their light mingling with the faint glow of the bond, Kael felt a quiet sense of peace. The past had shaped him, the bond had defined him, and the future was his to claim.

The Beastbound Pact had not only saved his village but had given him a purpose—a destiny he would embrace with everything he had.

And so, as the first star burned bright above him, Kael stepped forward, ready to meet whatever lay ahead.
