CHAPTER TEN
Noah's POV
"Yes. I'm aware of that. Our uncle took the throne but he possibly can't be planning to do something evil to me, you, or any other vampires. The vampire realm has its own rules. Not even the leader is allowed to break the rules." I replied to Isaac. He seemed a little bit afraid of what Edward was capable of doing.
Yes, he was the manipulative and supposedly wicked man of all times. Vampires love a wicked ruler. By that, I mean someone who can exhibit serious wickedness to outsiders. We hated to see someone else in our realm or someone trying to claim superiority over us.
"You said you came to check up on me after a long time. Was this what you wanted to tell me? That Edward will soon come to Willow Creek and enter my house to murder me?" I questioned.
"I didn't leave the doorsteps, Noah. You're falling in love with the new girl." Isaac said and sighed.
"I wonder what I could have done to you if you had just said that to the old me."
"You would have snapped my neck or perhaps drained my blood." He said.
"I would have done worse than that. I simply don't get your words. You were supporting me getting close to someone and now you're scared of that?"
"Don't be so grumpy, Noah. It is me who you are talking to. You had fun with the new girl called Isabelle and the two of you seem good together. I am just afraid that this news will reach Edward as soon as possible and you know what comes to his mind next." He said, and I fell into deep thoughts. Maybe I was getting dumb now and I couldn't think as fast as I was able to, many years ago.
He broke the silence. "Maybe he will come for you or come for the girl but he sure as hell will hate you for falling for a new girl."
"It's none of his problems, Isaac. Besides, Isabella is my friend and nothing else. I love to be with her and she is fun and loves to stalk me." I replied instantly.
"There's no other better place to run to, than Willow Creek. Visiting the city shouldn't even be an option and that's why it's much better to let you know how far Edward will go to ensure you don't get over Elena." He said and I let out another sigh.
"If you really are trying to challenge me to get over her, stop it already. I can get over her if I want to. You don't have to use the reverse psychology to make this happen. Besides, he has the throne. Why would he be bothered about someone so weak as I am?"
"Did you forget that the vampire's weakness or strength lies in the love he has for his beloved?" He turned to ask and a wave of thoughts washed through me. "There comes the eagerness to do certain things which you formerly weren't interested in. Vampires become stronger than ever when they are around who they love. Why did you think you weren't able to stay back there as the King when your mate died? Your strength collapsed but I can see it reforming."
"I don't want the throne, if that's what you were going to say." I quickly snapped my fingers. Even though I didn't believe in getting strong once again, I simply wanted to live my life without any disturbance.
"No, I wasn't going to say that." He replied hastily. "I need you to come to a safe place to have this conversation tomorrow."
"We stay in this very large building. Why can't you voice your concerns in here?"
"Because the walls have ears."
"Isabella is human. Don't try to frame her."
"And what about her friend?" He suddenly asked. I squinted my eyes and thought about it again. Eventually, I shook my head in disagreement.
"I was the ruler of the realm. I would have known if she's one of us."
"And who told you that only vampires exist in the town?" He asked once again.
"Witches? Is she one of the witches? I doubt it. She looks small and powerless."
"No," Isaac replied, "she looks gorgeous and powerful but secretive. And about what I wanted to tell you, I have the feeling that she's not close to us and can't hear us. This is it," he said and pulled my ears closer to himself.
"You're a freaking FOOL." He screamed into my ear and I felt his voice echo in my head. My head spinned and I grapples with controlling myself.
"What was that for?" I attacked. I was now back to my senses.
"Because you don't want to admit the truth. And I need to know the truth." He said. "It's obvious that you like the new girl, but do you have any plans to take things further?"
"You're meddling with my affairs and it's something which I do not like." I said with a firm voice. "Stay away from discussing about Isabella. There are plenty of things to talk about. You came back from the city. How did you walk in the sun?"
"I really didn't walk in the sun, but I read a lot of books on how to make that happen. But we are going to need someone's help to do it." He said but I quickly warned him.
"No magic in my house. Okay?" I warned.
"I will need to speak with Isabella's friend and see what she can do to help us. She is a witch and I saw her moving towards the forest today to get some herbs."
"That's not enough reasons to claim that she's a witch. Anyone can go there to get some herbs."
"But not everyone can chant some words in foreign language, tapping from the powers of the herbs?"
"I don't know what you're talking about, but getting closer to her friend will make things work. Don't make me regret accepting you back in here."
"I'm a stronger vampire. Fight me." He said and whooshed out of this place. Before I could even stretch forth my hands to whoosh in the direction that I love, I heard the door open and Isaac was out again. He was the flirtatious type and I didn't trust him not falling for Isabelle because his words sounded, to me, as dismissive. Like asking me to let her be while he'll have her all to himself.
I returned to the same place where Isabella visited me today and I sniffed the seats she sat on. Maybe I was getting too obsessed with her now, I couldn't say, but she reminded me of Elena and I was growing feelings for Isabelle already. To make things more interesting, I found out that she didn't have a boyfriend. She was only trying to leave the city for a better life in the town.
There was no better life in town except for the serenity and the beautiful flowers, and, ah yes, me. I looked myself in the mirror when I mentioned that. I could envision Isabella standing right behind me with those bright smiles on her lips.
But I wasn't sure if that was going to take place. I'd Edward tried something shitty just as Isaac predicted, I might need to leave town and the certainty of returning here will be slim.
