After leaving the Osborn residence, Dr. Octavius was visibly excited.
Of the two research labs Peter had acquired from Norman Osborn, SST Bio Research Institute was naturally placed under Connors' supervision. As for the other one—finally, his research had found a home!
Driving down the road, Dr. Octavius was lost in his thoughts about the future, his heart racing with excitement.
Woo—woo—woo—
As their vehicle reached the bridge, they found traffic at a complete standstill.
In the distance, piercing police sirens blared.
Buzz!
Peter's Spider-Sense suddenly flared.
"Search for signals, connect to the regional broadcast—let's see what's going on," Peter instructed the AI system in his wrist device.
A few seconds later, a virtual screen projected from his watch, displaying a blinking red dot.
At the same time, a voice transmission reached Peter's ears:
"A massive pterosaur has appeared over 10th Street, with a pack of T-Rexes below! Requesting backup—we need major reinforcements!"
Pterosaurs?
T-Rexes?
Peter's mind filled with question marks.
Were there dinosaurs in The Amazing Spider-Man?
The only thing remotely related was the Lizard, and even after mutating, he was barely two meters tall.
Not to mention, a T-Rex? Even a pterosaur? That didn't fit at all.
At most, Connors' transformation looked like an oversized velociraptor, right?
Without hesitation, Peter opened the car door and stepped out.
Since he was curious, he might as well go take a look.
"Dr. Octavius, something unexpected might have happened. Maybe you should find a safe place to hide for now?" Peter turned back and said to him.
Dr. Octavius raised an eyebrow. "And what exactly are you planning to do?"
Peter smirked. "Well, I'm actually a Spider-Man just passing through this world. So, I've got some business to take care of."
"Spider-Man?" Dr. Octavius was momentarily surprised. Then, recalling the armored hand he had seen on Peter before, a look of understanding crossed his face. "If that's the case, go ahead. Don't worry—I know how to run if things get dangerous."
Peter nodded. Dr. Octavius wasn't some tragic protagonist who would foolishly stand in place waiting for doom.
With a powerful leap, Peter soared seven or eight meters into the air.
Whoosh—
Nanovibranium particles surged out from the Leopard-Spider Emblem, rapidly enveloping his body in an instant.
Thwip!
Now clad in his Nano-Vibranium Spider Suit, Peter shot a web, latching onto the metal framework above the bridge. Using the momentum, he swung forward, covering dozens of meters in a single arc.
Thwip!
Thwip!
With the second and third swings, Peter rapidly traversed several hundred meters. Finally, he passed the bridge's central point and reached the other side.
This section of the bridge connected directly to 10th Street, where the incident was happening.
The scene was utter chaos.
Vehicles were abandoned haphazardly across the bridge.
Panicked civilians had already ditched their cars, running frantically in Peter's direction.
"Damn it! Weren't dinosaurs supposed to be extinct? Is Jurassic Park real?"
"Some genetic lab must have brought them back to life!"
"Osborn! It's Osborn!"
From the panicked shouts of the crowd, Peter quickly pieced together what was happening.
"ROAR!"
At that moment, a deafening roar echoed from the front. A car was suddenly flung high into the air—hurtling straight toward Peter's direction.
Peter swiftly shot out several web lines, attaching them to the car's corners. With a flick of his wrist, he anchored the car to the bridge's structure, stopping it effortlessly.
He yanked open the now slightly deformed car door and pulled out a terrified family of three. Once they were safe, Peter leaped forward again, pressing on toward the scene of the incident.
Now, he could see it clearly.
On the wide bridge ahead, five massive T-Rex-like creatures were rampaging.
Though people were calling them T-Rexes, Peter, thanks to his ARK: Survival Evolved experience as a dino-wrangling slave, immediately recognized them as Allosaurs instead.
Allosaurs—also known as "leaping lizards" or "strange lizards"—were medium-sized, bipedal predators that roamed the Earth in the Late Jurassic period, around 155 to 135 million years ago.
What made them particularly terrifying was their intelligence.
Many dinosaurs, despite their massive size, had pitifully small brains.
For example, the Mamenchisaurus, weighing 40 to 50 tons, had a brain that barely weighed 500 grams.
The Stegosaurus, about the size of an elephant, had an even smaller brain—only 100 grams—roughly the size of two small eggs.
But Allosaurs were an exception.
They were likely the most intelligent large carnivorous dinosaurs of the Jurassic era!
Even in ARK: Survival Evolved, this was evident.
Allosaurs often moved in packs of three or four, with the strongest one gaining a "Pack Leader Buff," making them an absolute nightmare to deal with.
And now, Peter was facing five of them.
The largest among them was 9.5 meters long, with the smallest reaching 9 meters—each about as tall as a three-story building.
Their raw power was terrifying. Every swing of their tails sent multiple cars flying like toys.
"F!"*
A blond-haired, refined-looking middle-aged officer crouched behind a car, firing his handgun wildly at one of the Allosaurs.
However, the creature's hide was far tougher than he had imagined.
Bullets barely left a mark, as if they were nothing more than mosquito bites.
Some rounds, when hitting particularly thick patches of skin, even ricocheted off!
A carbon-based lifeform tanking bullets with its bare flesh—this was truly a hopeless sight.
No wonder the officer was losing it.
That officer was none other than George Stacy, father of The Amazing Spider-Man's Gwen Stacy.
In the original timeline, he was supposed to die at the end of The Amazing Spider-Man while fighting the Lizard.
But since Peter had already dealt with Dr. Connors, the Lizard never rampaged, meaning George Stacy had been spared.
Yet fate seemed to have a twisted sense of humor.
Instead of a "small-time dinosaur," now he was dealing with the real thing!
George Stacy was completely dumbfounded.
Earlier that day, he had been investigating a burglary case at a nearby shop with a few officers. Just as they wrapped up, they heard the distress call.
By the time he and his team arrived, the officers who had called for help were already dead, their bodies scattered across the streets.
And in their place—extinct dinosaurs had returned to life!
The Allosaurs weren't just slaughtering everything in sight; they were also devouring people, causing absolute mayhem in the streets.
Without hesitation, George had called for backup and launched a counterattack.
Through sheer tactical maneuvering, he had successfully lured the creatures onto the nearby sea bridge.
Compared to letting them rampage through the city, trapping them on a bridge—with only two possible escape routes—was the best chance they had to contain the situation.
However, things were still spiraling far beyond George Stacy's expectations...
