Chapter 11 - A Daring Proposition

The weekend had arrived, offering Arthur a much-needed respite from his newfound social responsibilities. He spent most of Saturday immersed in his books, the quiet hum of his apartment a stark contrast to the bustling hallways of school.

But the peace didn't last long. Late in the afternoon, there was a knock at his door. Arthur opened it to find Alishia standing there, dressed casually in jeans and a loose sweater, her face lit up with excitement.

"Hey," she said, holding up a stack of colorful flyers. "I have an idea."

Arthur leaned against the doorframe, eyeing the flyers warily. "Should I be concerned?"

Alishia grinned. "Not at all. I was thinking... what if we helped organize the upcoming talent showcase at school? It's a great way for you to interact with people without it being overwhelming."

Arthur stared at her. "You want me to organize an event?"

"Not by yourself," Alishia clarified. "We'll do it together. And Luke's already on board."

Arthur sighed, running a hand through his hair. "I don't know, Alishia. That sounds like a lot of work."

"It'll be fun," she insisted. "Besides, you said you'd try to be more social, right? This is the perfect opportunity."

Arthur hesitated, torn between his desire to stay under the radar and his growing trust in Alishia's judgment. "Fine," he said finally. "But if it turns into a disaster, I'm blaming you."

Alishia laughed, her eyes sparkling. "Deal. Now come on, we have to head to Luke's place to plan."

Luke's apartment was a chaotic mix of mismatched furniture and random knick-knacks, but it was warm and inviting, much like its owner. He greeted them at the door with his usual grin.

"Welcome to HQ," he said, gesturing grandly. "Let's get this show on the road."

The three of them gathered around Luke's coffee table, spreading out the flyers and brainstorming ideas for the showcase. Alishia took charge, her natural leadership shining through as she organized their thoughts into a cohesive plan.

Arthur, to his own surprise, found himself contributing more than he expected. He suggested themes, proposed a schedule, and even volunteered to handle the technical setup.

By the time they were done, the sun had dipped below the horizon, and the city lights sparkled outside Luke's window.

"This is actually shaping up to be pretty good," Luke said, leaning back against the couch. "Who knew you had a knack for event planning, Arthur?"

Arthur rolled his eyes. "Don't get used to it."

Alishia smiled, her gaze lingering on Arthur. "You did great," she said softly.

Arthur felt a warmth spread through him at her words, though he quickly pushed it aside. "Thanks," he muttered.

The following week, the three of them threw themselves into preparations for the showcase. Arthur found himself spending more time with Alishia and Luke than he had with anyone in years. Despite his initial reluctance, he couldn't deny that he was starting to enjoy himself.

Alishia, ever the perfectionist, took charge of decorations and participant coordination. Luke handled publicity, plastering the school with posters and hyping up the event during lunch breaks. Arthur, true to his word, focused on the technical aspects, ensuring that the sound system and lighting were flawless.

As the showcase drew closer, the excitement in the school was palpable. Arthur couldn't walk down the hallway without overhearing snippets of conversation about the event.

"Did you hear about the talent showcase? It's going to be amazing!"

"I heard Arthur Virelith is helping organize it. Can you believe it?"

Arthur tried to ignore the attention, focusing instead on his tasks. But deep down, he couldn't help but feel a small sense of pride.

The night before the showcase, the trio stayed late at school, putting the finishing touches on the stage and decorations. The gymnasium had been transformed into a vibrant, welcoming space, complete with string lights and colorful banners.

"This looks incredible," Alishia said, stepping back to admire their work.

"Not bad for a first attempt," Luke said, clapping Arthur on the back.

Arthur allowed himself a small smile. "Let's just hope it goes smoothly."

"It will," Alishia said confidently. "We've got this."

As they locked up for the night, Arthur felt a strange mix of exhaustion and anticipation. The showcase was a big step out of his comfort zone, but with Alishia and Luke by his side, he felt ready to face it.
