Daniel was surprised and immediately looked where the voice came from.
"I-It's me" Emily as a ghost whispers to Daniel.
Daniel who was crying a moment ago rushed to her and tried to hug her but he couldn't as Emily is a ghost now.
"I want you to run." She said to Daniel.
"I-I can't!" Daniel replied.
"You promised right? You'll finish it." Emily reminded him.
"Alright, If It'll let you rest in peace. I'll run once more!" Daniel said.
He let go of what happened for the past few years and drove to the place where that marathon took place despite being late at night.
At the starting line he warms up with his ghost girlfriend beside him. And then he started running.
He still remembers this place like it was home. The cracked roads and broken guardrails as he sprints through the course his girlfriend was flying by his side guiding him.
Hours passed It was and he was still running preserving his pace in order to not exhaust himself. As more time passes he was a few more kilometers away from the finish line.
There he saw them all those who died in that tragedy. They're all ghost's but they we're patiently watching him finish this marathon.
Unfortunately, his body was giving up and he died...
Due to his will to finish the marathon his soul escaped his body and as a ghost he continues the marathon.
When he crossed the finish line the sun starts to rise.
All the ghosts starts to fade away. But he focused his attention to Emily.
"Congratulations, I knew you could make it." those were Emily's last words as she starts to fade away as the sun rises.
Daniel smiled with tears flowing out his tearducts "Yeah, Thank you for being with me till the end."
There they were both at peace and Daniel fulfilled his promise.
With that Daniel who became a ghost after escaping his body that had reached its limits also fades away...
