He couldn't believe his eyes when he was fixated on the guy with black hair and a blindfold. The man he wanted to see the most, and the only man who had provided him the light of hope when he was at his lowest.
It was none other than Ravi.
He saw him when Ravi and Sophia were having a little quarrel with two other students. But before he could approach them, they left.
But he didn't become sad. Instead, now he had a reason to go to the academy. If they were here, it could only be for one reason. But he still had his doubts about whether Ravi was going to the academy too, because, if he remembered correctly, Ravi hadn't changed a bit in all these years.
His doubts didn't last long. After arriving at the hotel, he was assigned a room with a partner. And, as if blessed by fate, his roommate was none other than Ravi.
Opening the door, he entered the room and found Ravi sitting at the edge, his blindfold still on, looking out the window.
He didn't seem to care about the presence of anyone in the room. Like a calm ocean, his face remained unchanged as he simply stared outside.
"Hey..." The red-haired guy, whose name was Kane, tried to greet Ravi, waving his hands.
He was eager to hear Ravi's voice again, the same voice that had motivated him, the voice of the man who had given him strength when he had lost everything.
For two whole years, he had been striving to increase his strength, even while in prison, never stopping his training, using his abilities on the prisoners he despised.
Ravi slowly turned towards him. Even with his blindfold on, Kane felt as if Ravi was looking into his very soul.
His senses tingled, and a wave of unease washed over him. He felt like he was being stared at by a demon, as though he were trapped in hell, though he didn't even know what hell truly was.
'Why am I feeling this scared? I didn't feel this way two years ago.'
Kane forced himself to calm down, taking a deep breath before speaking again.
"Do you remember me?"
He knew it was a long shot, considering how much he had changed in the past two years. He didn't look anything like he used to, but he still held out a sliver of hope.
"You… are that kid from before."
Kane immediately knew what Ravi was referring to. A smile bloomed across his face. He couldn't contain his excitement. His role model, the one he had met only once, had recognized him. The joy was overwhelming.
If anyone else who knew him saw him like this, they wouldn't believe their eyes.
"Are you also going to the academy?" Kane asked eagerly.
If Ravi was going to the academy, Kane would gladly follow him there.
Ravi went silent for a moment before walking out of the room. He moved slowly, as if carrying an immense burden on his back, his posture hunched, resembling an old man with back pain.
Kane found it strange. He remembered Ravi as strong—the very reason Kane had become who he was. But now, his role model seemed… defeated. Kane couldn't believe it.
Ravi stepped out of the room, closing the door behind him.
'What has happened to him? He seems so broken.'
Kane didn't know what had happened to Ravi or how he had become like this. But it was hard for him to accept that someone like Ravi could be in such a state.
Just as he was about to follow him, the announcement came over the speaker.
"All students who have come to take the entrance for the Pis Aller academy are requested to arrive in the hall. We are beginning to explain the rules for the entrance examination."
Kane cursed under his breath.
"Damn it, is he going or not? He has to, right? He's here in this hotel… damn it. These arrogant brats… they haven't even hatched yet and they're full of themselves."
He couldn't stop himself from venting his frustration. The students he'd encountered were all so full of themselves, treating everything like a game.
"If I were still in prison, I'd be torturing criminals, killing them… that was much more fun than dealing with these kids. Damn that old man for sending me here."
His thoughts were interrupted by the knocking at his door.
Knock… knock…
Kane raised his middle finger, imagining the stern figure of his jailor standing before him.
"FUCK YOU!" he shouted, annoyed.
Just then, the knocking grew louder, and Kane went to open the door.
Creak…
He was greeted by two stunningly beautiful women—Sophia and Anna.
Sophia's face was emotionless, while Anna wore a disgusted expression.
Both of them had heard Kane's curse, and Anna couldn't help but think to herself, Is this the boyfriend she was talking about? He looks like a freak.
