Chapter 30 - Raviel's Surprise

Mikhail walked out of the Norvalis Area after hearing his score.

A mind-blowing number of 81, allowing him to top everyone else in the test.

'1 category confirmed. Spellcasting and One-On-One Spars left.'

Out of the three he had chosen, he had 2 left now.

In the other 2 where it was normal for him to top at 1st, he was quite sure that he had clutched Mental Examinations again.

Despite it going a little unusual, Mikhail had a hunch that it went better than usual.

Physical Tests wouldn't be a problem. It was the category he was most sure about.

Currently, he was heading over to his Spellcasting Tests.

It would be his last test for the day and he would do the last 2 categories tomorrow.

Spellcasting Tests were simple.

They were basically the same as Elemental Tests, but they focused more on the backend rather than the frontend of the spell.

The backend of the spell was the part where you formed and adjusted the spell and how you would release it.

The backend was known to be a more important and complex study than the frontend.

If one could master the factors involved in the backend, the overall strength of the spell could even advance a rank.

These minor factors could largely contribute to the result of a battle.

Since Spellcasting Tests weren't all that different from Elemental Tests, they were held in the same ground.

Both of them required the use of mana so that was another factor.

As he was walking through the grounds, he heard a familiar call from behind.

"Mika!"

Followed by a tap on his shoulder to indicate their presence.

Turning over, he saw Raviel arrive right beside him, done with her tests.

There was a bright smile of pride on her face, already indicating her results.

Not like he expected anything less from her.

She was a beast in Cindralis Magic.

"Oh hey, finally done with your tests?" He fell into step alongside her, allowing her to join him.

The crimson-haired girl gave him a cheerful nod, her attitude as fiery as her power.

"Yup, it was a total breeze."

Mikhail smiled lightly before complimenting her.

"Good job."

He saw her expression freeze from surprise but then morph into a satisfied smile a second later.

It was apparent that a compliment from Mikhail was all she needed.

As they walked together, it was Raviel who spoke now.

"What about you Mika? How did your tests go?"

It showed on her face that she had been dying to ask this question.

Raviel wasn't good at hiding her thoughts or intentions.

Her twin sister, Amariel, was much better in these aspects.

Mikhail could understand why she hesitated to ask about it.

His whole squadron knew that he never performed to his full power in the tests.

Mikhail never had any intention or interest in doing so which was why he never topped these tests.

Raviel wanted to ask about his score but didn't want it to come across as a rude gesture that she was flexing her position.

Mikhail didn't really care about it if he had to be honest but he understood where she was coming from.

He would tell them even if he didn't perform well, because he never tried clearing on top in the first place.

However, this time, it was an entirely different case.

"I got a score of 81," he told her.

An inquisitive look came on Raviel's face as she tried to think on what to say.

'She doesn't understand how good 81 is in Non-Mat elements.'

As Mikhail said before, Non-Mat elements were hard to control and weak at first.

So as compared to Mat-elements, their high score ranges were usually less.

Which was why it was a problem for Raviel.

He lightly tapped her on the back of her head.

"It's the top score in my element. I won."

The words caused Raviel to freeze for a moment, as if she was trying to make sure she heard right.

Her shocked purple eyes locked with his blue ones, the thought causing her to freeze in her place.

"Wait wait, you won? Like like, you got first place in your category?"

Her expression seemed to wonder if she was standing before the wrong Mika.

However, the nod of confirmation from Mikhail sent a punch of air through Raviel.

A second later, her expression was replaced by an otherworldly happiness for him.

She rushed into him, unable to contain her behavior.

"Mikaaa! I'm so happy for you." She pulled him into a hug.

Mikhail felt some weird stares from the people beside him and he tried to calm Raviel down.

Unfortunately, it would take him a good 20 minutes to do so.

The cheerful redhead was just more happier for his scores than her own ones at this point.

A stressful 25 minutes later, the duo arrived at the Spellcasting grounds.

Raviel didn't pick this category up but she still followed Mikhail to see him perform.

With her talent in Cindralis, one would think that Raviel could perform exceptional here as well.

But surprisingly, that wasn't the case.

And the reason for it was the furthest thing from what one would expect.

It was because Raviel didn't think about spell factors or their values.

Her body or her mind just calculated and set them on instinct.

The surprising part was that her instinct was so terrifyingly good that the spell would never break.

It would remain in perfect harmony.

Of course not everyone could do it. Her Dragma also played a significant role in this.

"You can spectate from her, I'll go ahead now," Mikhail informed her.

Raviel nodded.

"Okay. I'll be watching you from here. Good luck!" She tapped him on the back.

Giving her a thumbs up, the young squadron commander went on ahead.

He saw that the tests had started for this category already as well.

There were already some candidates giving their tests up ahead.

Even though the use of Dragmas wasn't allowed, Mikhail could get past the restriction with an Oath.

However, he didn't see the need to use both.

Instead, he planned to just breeze through the category with his natural ability.

"Alright."

'Let's do this.'

_____________

A/N: I'll be skipping the spellcasting tests because they are more or less the same as shown in the elemental tests.

I don't want to dump too much information about the spells right now.

As always, thank you for reading this novel! :)
