The first day of my job. I was entering the big city for the first time. My plan was to head straight to the dorm, drop off my things, and get ready for my first day at the office. But, well, God had different plans – and not the kind you'd hope for (in a rather unfortunate way).
My taxi broke down. There I was, stranded on the road with all my luggage, waiting for who knows how long. It was getting late, and the nerves kicked in. What if I was late for my first day? The driver tried his best, but no luck—the taxi wouldn't start. No cabs were available in the area either.
At that point, I had to swallow my pride. Asking for help is not my thing. But there was no other choice. I put my ego aside and decided to ask for a ride. However, no cars or bikes came by. I waited for an hour. I even approached some people, but no one stopped.
Desperation kicked in, and I decided to try a different approach—the only thing I could think of at the moment: acting. I figured, if I could create a scene, maybe someone would stop. So, a few minutes later, when a car came near the speed breaker, I decided to play fainted.
I stumbled near the car, made a dramatic fall, and collapsed as convincingly as I could manage. The guy inside the car jumped out, panicked, asking, "Are you okay? What happened?"
I opened my eyes and looked at him. Omg, he was so handsome! In that moment, I felt like I had stepped straight into a romantic drama. I kid you not, I actually thought, He's my destiny! (Lol, a bit dramatic, right?)
He helped me sit up and grabbed some water from his car.
He just asked me, "Where did you go?" I told him I was heading to the dorm. Just as we were speaking, someone in the passenger seat rolled down their window and asked, "Alex, what's the problem?"
Yes, the man who had helped me was Alex.
The man in the car opened the door and stepped out, walking toward us. He looked like he belonged on a magazine cover—tall, at least 6 feet, with broad shoulders, a sharp nose, and wearing sunglasses like he owned the world.
His voice was so manly, and his scent was undeniably attractive. But, in between all that, no matter how handsome he was, he just wasn't my type anyway.I only tend to like average-looking, soft-spoken men like Alex.
He turned to Alex and asked, "Why did she faint right in front of the car?"
Alex, ever the calm one, replied, "I think she's just hungry and weak. Maybe we should help her get to the dorm."
The tall guy suddenly cut in, his tone sharp and angry. "Why would we send her to the dorm?!"
I jumped at the sound of his voice, my nerves kicking in. He glared at me and continued, "I saw the whole thing from the beginning. She intentionally fainted in front of our car."
I felt my palms start to sweat. "No, I didn't do it intentionally!"
He narrowed his eyes. "If you need money, just tell me. Don't pull this kind of stunt to get it from us."
Now, I was getting genuinely angry. Money? Seriously? That wasn't even on my mind. All I cared about was getting to the dorm as quickly as possible. (Lol, as if anyone would think this was a money scheme!)
"I said, stop speaking whatever's running through your head!" I snapped. "I don't need your money, even if I ended up in the hospital. Just send me to the dorm. I'll handle it myself."
He crossed his arms, his glare intensifying. "Why would we send you to the dorm? We didn't even hit you!"
The conversation dragged on for what felt like 30 minutes, and I was starting to wonder if we'd ever get past this ridiculous argument.
After the 30-minute conversation, he finally let out a long sigh. I thought, Okay, maybe he's had a moment of sympathy. He's going to send me to the dorm now.
But nope, that cold-hearted jerk just got into the car and casually called his secretary to drive. I couldn't believe what I was seeing. What kind of a**hole is he?!
He sat there, looking at me, removed his sunglasses, and said, "I could sue you for fake fainting in front of my car, but I had a meeting to get to, so I left you."
I was seething. Hearing that made my blood boil.
As they drove off, I angrily plopped down on the sidewalk. Just when I thought I couldn't be more annoyed, the same car reversed.
I decided, even if I ended up at the office late, I wasn't going to accept his help after that.
He rolled down the window and threw some money at me. "Don't do that anymore. Just take the money and eat."
I just sat there, staring at him like, Who the hell is this guy?! Honestly, I wanted to kill him.
Before I could even open my mouth, the car was gone.
Yes, all your guesses were correct. The cold-hearted, unkind jerk was Lehan. That's how we ended up meeting for the first time.
