Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: The Bitch

Carl stepped out of his home, greeted by a peaceful scene filled with joy and contentment.

Many parents were playing with their children in the community square, their faces lit up with happy smiles.

But Carl knew that in just a month, all of this would turn to dust.

He quickly walked out of the community, heading towards a Michelin three-star restaurant not far away.

A meal there would cost at least five or six thousand, and in the past, Carl had always hesitated to dine there.

But now, he didn't care at all.

Having been reborn, he felt he had to celebrate!

Upon entering the restaurant, Carl chose a seat by the window and ordered all the most expensive dishes on the menu, along with a bottle of Lafite red wine.

This meal cost him fifty thousand yuan.

Even the waitstaff looked at Carl with ambiguous glances, thinking he must be a wealthy second-generation heir.

After all, who else would spend so much on a single meal?

Carl ignored their thoughts and began to devour the delicious food as soon as it was served.

Perhaps because he had endured six months of the frozen apocalypse, the taste of this exquisite food nearly brought him to tears.

His eating manner became somewhat fierce, drawing whispers from the surrounding diners.

But Carl didn't care.

In the apocalypse, people could kneel and beg for a single pack of instant noodles.

When that time came, all civility and morality would vanish.

While Carl was enjoying his meal, a woman passing by outside suddenly stopped.

She was a long-haired beauty with exquisite makeup, wearing Gucci high heels and carrying an LV handbag.

This woman was Anna, the one who had caused Carl's death in his past life.

Beside her was her good friend, Cherry.

As they walked past the Michelin three-star restaurant, both couldn't help but glance inside.

They had always yearned for such a luxurious place, but their finances didn't allow them to indulge.

However, that didn't stop them from eyeing the interior, hoping to spot a quality rich heir to catch.

To Anna's surprise, she spotted Carl inside, sitting before a lavish spread of top-tier food.

"Isn't that Carl? How could he afford to eat here?" Anna exclaimed in astonishment.

Cherry was equally surprised, covering her mouth, "Carl is actually this rich?"

As she spoke, she shot Anna a knowing glance and laughed, "Anna, you're so lucky! The guy chasing you is actually a hidden rich heir."

"Look at all that food; it must cost at least fifty or sixty thousand. Who else can afford such an expensive meal?"

Cherry's tone carried a hint of envy.

She knew that Carl had been pursuing Anna for two and a half years.

Yet Anna had always kept him hanging, neither rejecting nor accepting him.

Anna was quite the gold digger; she believed she could marry a quality rich heir and live like a lady.

But she also didn't want to give up on Carl, who had a car and a house in Haitan City.

So, Anna had always treated Carl as a backup option.

Her principle regarding backups was simple: do not take the initiative, do not refuse, and do not take responsibility.

Seeing Carl enjoying a luxurious meal worth tens of thousands made Anna begin to doubt her assumptions.

"Could it be that Carl is actually a hidden rich heir?"

Resting her chin on her hand, Anna began to contemplate.

The more she thought about it, the more plausible it seemed.

"Right, isn't there often someone like that in dramas?"

"Someone who is obviously wealthy but pretends to be ordinary in search of true love."

Anna convinced herself with her own words, her eyes sparkling with excitement.

If that were true, she could save herself a lot of trouble.

After all, Carl had been pursuing her, and she believed that if she just nodded, he would immediately propose.

Cherry chimed in, "Anna, let's go inside and find Carl!"

In truth, she was eyeing that table full of delicious food.

This was a Michelin three-star restaurant, and the gourmet dishes inside were something ordinary people would never get the chance to taste in their lifetime.

Anna hesitated for a moment but shook her head, saying, "That wouldn't be good! It might make him think I'm a gold digger."

"How about we wait outside and pretend to run into him by chance?"

Anna wasn't foolish; she wouldn't lower herself for a meal.

Even if Carl was indeed wealthy, she wanted to maintain her goddess demeanor.

Only in that way, when they were together in the future, could she control Carl and keep him as her loyal admirer.

So the two of them hid not far from the restaurant, waiting for Carl to come out.

After over an hour of eating, Carl rubbed his satisfied belly.

The Michelin three-star food was actually average, but for someone who had just been reborn from the apocalypse, it was a delicious delicacy that moved him deeply.

Next, he planned to go to a nearby supermarket to buy some supplies.

This was to test the storage capacity of the different space, ensuring there wouldn't be any issues later on.

Although he was highly confident about transporting supplies from the Walmart warehouse, it was better to be cautious.

After all, he had experienced hunger and couldn't afford any unexpected incidents.

Carl paid the bill cheerfully and walked out of the restaurant with the smiling waitstaff behind him.

Just then, he heard a familiar voice nearby.

"Carl, what a coincidence!"

Carl turned to see Anna and Cherry standing there.

Anna tucked her hair behind her ear, deliberately exposing her fair neck and pink earlobes.

Carl couldn't help but sneer inwardly; this was a classic green tea tactic.

It was all about making a man's heart flutter inadvertently.

Anna, the ultimate green tea + white lotus, was naturally well-versed in this art.

Unfortunately for her, Carl was no longer the naive admirer he once was.

Not long ago, he had suffered a miserable death because of this woman.

She had even planned to break his ribs to make soup!

Thinking of this, Carl's gaze turned cold, filled with naked killing intent.

After all, the apocalypse was coming soon; killing her wouldn't pose any problems.

Should he go ahead and do it?

Anna felt a chill under Carl's gaze, nervously saying, "Carl… what's wrong?"

Carl quickly composed himself, his expression neutral as he replied, "Nothing, I mistook you for someone else."

He suddenly changed his mind.

Letting this woman die so easily would be too merciful for her.

Moreover, if he killed her now, he would likely face legal consequences.

Carl didn't want to end up in a detention center when the apocalypse arrived.

It would be better to let her experience the despair of the apocalypse before finding a way to toy with her until her demise.

With careful planning, Karl has more than enough time to prepare.

Armed with memories from his past life, he has a hundred ways to make her suffer before she dies.

So, for now, there's no need to deal with her immediately.

What's most crucial at this moment is to build the safest shelter possible, ensuring his own survival in comfort during the end of the world.
