Chapter 4 - Throbbing ache

As Lyra entered the grand estate, she was suddenly flooded with knowledge about the inhabitants of the mansion. She knew that Elianora's parents, two brothers, uncle, aunt, their daughter, and younger son all resided within the estate's opulent walls. She even knew that her grandfather, a wise and just man, lived here, and that her grandmother had passed into the realm of the ancestors. But how did she know all this? Lyra's mind reeled as she struggled to understand. There was no such information in the ancient pages of the Chronicles of Eldrida. The more she tried to think, the more her head pounded with a dull, throbbing ache.

"What happened, child? Are you okay?" Lyra turned toward the voice, seeing Elianora's mother, Samantha, gazing at her with concern etched on her face.

Lyra nodded, trying to reassure her. "Yes!" But before she could say more, the girl who had brought her here intervened.

"No, no, she's not okay. You should send her to rest as soon as possible. It seems she has a severe headache," the girl said, supporting Lyra as she swayed under the weight of her confusion.

Samantha's expression turned worried, and she nodded. "Take her to her room, and make sure she rests. We cannot have her exerting herself in her current state."

As Lyra was led away, she heard Elianora's father ask the girl, "She's fine, I hope? Did she venture into the Mystical Forest of Tenebrous again?"

The girl replied without hesitation, "Yes, Mr. chief!"

As Lyra entered the room, she was enveloped in the warm, inviting atmosphere of Elianora's chambers. The space was a masterful blend of elegance and simplicity, with each piece of furniture and ornament exuding a sense of refined excellence. The plush carpet beneath her feet was soft and silent, woven from the finest threads of silver and gold. The intricately carved wooden panels on the walls seemed to whisper tales of ancient wisdom, depicting scenes of great battles and powerful magic.

The girl quickly settled Lyra onto the plush bed, handing her a small, delicate vial filled with a shimmering liquid. "Drink this, it will help with your headache," she instructed, her voice soft with concern and a hint of warmth. Lyra obeyed, feeling the cool liquid slide down her throat like a soothing balm. As the girl pulled a soft, velvet blanket over her, Lyra's eyelids began to droop, weighed down by the lingering fatigue and confusion.

As she drifted off to sleep, Lyra's mind began to clear, like the slow lifting of a fog that had shrouded her memories for so long. Memories long buried began to resurface, and she realized that the mysterious book she had discovered was, in fact, the chronicle of a lost kingdom – Eldrida, a realm that was once part of the mighty Kingdom of Azura. Azura, with its lush forests, towering mountains, and sparkling lakes, had been a land of breathtaking beauty and ancient magic.

The history of Azura was shrouded in mystery, its downfall a topic of whispered speculation among scholars and historians. Some said it was the result of a great curse, one that had been placed upon the kingdom by a powerful sorcerer. Others claimed it was the result of a brutal war, one that had ravaged the land and left its people devastated.

And then, like a key turning in a lock, Lyra's true identity clicked into place. She was Elianora, daughter of Nikolai, the powerful chief landlord of the villages under Azura's jurisdiction. Her father was a just and fair leader, respected by the villagers and admired by his peers for his wisdom and courage. As Elianora, Lyra's place was among the nobility, with a destiny intertwined with the fate of Azura and the Kingdom of Eldrida itself. The realization was both exhilarating and terrifying, like standing on the precipice of a great unknown.

As Lyra navigated her new reality, she began to grasp the intricacies of Elianora Moonwhisper's life. Elianora, a simple and unassuming girl with a heart full of kindness, was much like Lyra's own personality in her past life. It was as if she had shed her old skin, leaving behind the name Suman and embracing her new identity.

Lyra realized that she had transmigrated from her future world to this historical realm, a phenomenon she couldn't yet comprehend. Though the reason behind this transition remained a mystery, she focused on assimilating into her new life. She drew upon Elianora's memories, slowly unraveling the threads of her past. The memories were fragmented, but they revealed a life of luxury and privilege, yet also one of duty and obligation.

As she delved deeper, Lyra discovered that Elianora's cousin, a girl of similar age with a sharp tongue and a quick wit, was not particularly close to her. Despite being a year older, their relationship had never been formally defined, and Elianora had grown accustomed to the distance between them. The cousin's name was Sophia, and she was the daughter of Elianora's uncle, a man known for his cunning and ambition.

However, Elianora's life had been predetermined from a young age. She was betrothed to Crown Prince Kaidën Darkhaven, the son of King Lysander Thane Darkhaven, the ruler of the Kingdom of Eldrida. Kaidën was the child of King Lysander's first wife, a queen renowned for her beauty and her fierce protection of her family. He had a younger half-brother, Prince Uriel Darkhaven, born to his father's second wife, Hera, a woman known for her grace and her unwavering dedication to the kingdom.

According to tradition, girls with suitable qualities had been selected for the two brothers, and their marriages had been arranged in childhood. Elianora had grown up knowing that she was destined to marry Kaidën, a fact that had become an integral part of her existence. She had never questioned the arrangement, accepting it as her duty to her family and to the kingdom. But now, as Lyra navigated Elianora's life, she couldn't help but wonder about the secrets that lay beneath the surface of this arranged marriage.
