ICARUS FOUND ASHORE

The locals of the Richtwissen port city Ätherherst woke this morning rather distressed and by the city council's opinion, inconvenienced. From the recent passing of Hurricane Danaë, to the largely damaging fireworks made by the local ICTM graduating class, it might just be that Ätherherst could be voted 'Richtwissen's unluckiest city' this year. It was not unusual to find a missing vessel following a storm, especially after Hurricane Danaë, which has recently passed last week. At 4:38 A.M. this morning, a Anamnithonian ship was found drifting off the coast of Ätherherst. Officials at the scene identified the ship as the Icarus, with its crew and passengers incapacitated. Later that morning, at 10:58 A.M., the Icarus's Captain Polonius awoke and was subsequently questioned. Captain Polonius was unable to reply in a coherent manner, only muttering a few words:

"Waves... violet... peacocks..."

–Polonius Laertides, Captain of the Icarus

The ship's crew was inquired of the incident, yet they were also unable to provide a suitable response. A few passengers were able to recall the ship's original course; the Icarus was scheduled to leave last February 11th and arrive at the port of Khoroviki at West Koshey this evening. Original course still being investigated. Weather reports suggest that an Epsilon level storm might have blown the ship off course (see page 7). Psychiatrist Lucien Villeneuve has theorized that the vessel came too close to the eye, resulting in the crew's confusion. Identification of the passengers still ongoing. According to Ätherherst Security Head Albrecht Marley, correspondence with Anamnithon will be held on February 25th. For the meantime, Ätherherst locals are to be hosting the stranded passengers. Though this decision was unanimous amongst the city council, after interviewing citizens, it was found that many citizens, especially the elderly, have been rather displeased about the Schicksal passengers on board the ship.

"These Anamnithonians, you know what they're like. Some of them might be memokeepers and we're just going to let them walk around near our homes? We don't mind our fellow countrymen and the Eastern Hemisphere people, but those witches? Better send 'em back to their country quick."

–Peter Goshawk(59), Ätherherst local

It is common knowledge nowadays for the younger generation that memokeepers are rare even amongst Anamnithonian citizens. However, due to numerous objections from a large population of superstitious locals, Hon. Marley has decided to restrict movement beyond the beach shelter. The passengers were upset by this decision, but chose to remain at the shelter until identified. Good news is, 41 out of the 345 on board have been confirmed.

Later note acc. The Trumpet:

"Identified personas will be sent home immediately."

END OF ARTICLE

Note by Juno Nikomache, Memokeeper:

"Timing of Icarus's departure does not match with Hurricane Danaë's development. Judging by the storm's trajectory, ship being blown off course is improbable. Original course for Khorovik unconfirmed but highly likely. Rogue Dreamweaver involvement: Forty-five percent likely."
