The lesson started, and Elder Kai went on about "Qi harmonization." Sounded important, but also boring. I leaned over to the guy next to me.
"What's Qi harmonization?"
Astel sighed. "The thing that keeps you from being trash."
Cool, I thought. Definitely need that.
Elder Kai asked for a volunteer. Before I could duck, Li Mei stood up. She floated to the front, did some magical hand gestures, and everyone clapped like she just saved the sect.
"Wow," I whispered. "She's amazing."
Astel snorted. "Focus on not embarrassing yourself first."
Then Elder Kai's eyes landed on me. "Amon, let's see what you've got."
Great. I was about to become a classroom legend for all the wrong reasons.
