Lyra eyes fluttered open, her mind foggy from the strange, unsettling dreams that had plagued her. She lay in bed her heart racing, as she struggled to recall the details of the dreams. Fragments of images lingered in her mind: dark forest, glowing eyes, and an eerie, whispery voice that seemed to care caress her skin.

As she sat up, a wave of dizziness washed over her, forcing her to clutch the bedframe for support. What was happening to her? Lyra thought back to the occurrence of the past few weeks: the vivid dreams, the unexplained bruises, and the eerie feeling of being watch.

Just as lyra was starting to feel like she was losing her mind, a knock at the door broke the silence. It was her best friend, Sarah.

Hey, girl! I brought coffee", Sarah said, breezing into the room with a bright smile.

Lyra forced a, feeling a pang of guilt for not confiding in Sarah about the strange happenings. Thanks, sar you're a lifesaver."

As they sipped their coffee, lyra couldn't shake off the feeling of a watched. She glanced around the room, but there was no one there Sarah noticed her unease.

"Hey, is everything okay? You seem a bit... off," Sarah said, her brow furrowed with concern. Lyra hesitate, unsure of the how to explain the strange occurrence. I've just been having some weird dreams, that's all."

Sarah eyes widened. Weird dreams? What kind of weird dreams? Lyra shrugged, feeling a bit silly. "Just.... dark forests, glowing eyes..... stuff like that.

Sarah expression turned serious. Lyra, I think you should talk to someone about this. Maybe a therapist or--" lyra cut her off, feeling a surge frustration. Sarah, I'm fine. Really it's just stress or something."

Sarah looked unconvinced, but she dropped the subject. As they finished their coffee, lyra couldn't shake off the feeling that something was off. That evening, lyra decided to take a walk to her head. The streets were quiet the only sounds being the distant hum of traffic. As she walked lyra felt a presence behind her. She spun around, but there was no one there.

Suddenly, a figure emerged from the shadows. Tall dark haired and piercing emerald eyes that seemed to bore into her soul. Who are you? Lyra demanded, trying to keep her voice steady.

The stranger smiled, his eyes glinting in the moonlight. "My name is kael. And you, lyra Harper, are in great danger lyra heart skipped a beat. What do you mean?

Kael expression turned serious. You're not like other humans lyra, you have a.... gift. A gift that makes you a target for those who seek to exploit your powers.

Lyra mind reeled. What was kael talking about? What gift? As she stood there, frozen in confusion, kael reached out and grab her arm. His touch sent shiver down her spine. Come with me, lyra. I'll keep you safe." Lyra hesitate, unsure if what to do but as she looked into kael piercing emerald eyes, she felt a strange sense of trust. Okay, she said, her voice barely above a whisper, as kael led her away from the streetlights and into the darkness, lyra wondered if she had just made a terrible mistake. Or if she had finally found the one person who could save her from the shadows that lurked within..
