Chereads / The Chaos Sovereign / Chapter 4 - Malvin Skyle

Chapter 4 - Malvin Skyle

The next day, Sean woke up early in the morning and just stayed on bed lying on his back staring at the ceiling with lifeless eyes. He stayed like that for about 15 minutes before reluctantly getting up to prepare for the expedition.

With shaky legs, he made his way to the orphanage bathroom which of course was used by everyone. He took his towel, and went to take a shower. He took 10 minutes taking a shower until he stepped out as he dried himself. In the midst of drying himself he caught a glimpse of himself on a mirror which was on the bathroom wall beside the entrance door. He saw a thin but handsome boy looking at him. He had long silky black hair and a faint of touch of silver at the edges which was wet due to taking a shower, deep blue eyes that seemed to tell a thousand stories, thin lips, chiseled face, lean body though it was a bit too thin, still he was very handsome. In fact it may be one of the reasons why people bully him that much because they are jealous of his beauty.

'I've gotten thinner again.... *sigh*'

He thought as he looked away from the mirror and resumed drying himself and getting ready.

After wearing his clothes, he ate his breakfast which consisted of biscuits and milk and headed out. Today he was visiting the marketplace. He wanted to get something to protect himself. At least a sword, though he doubted if he was ever going to be able to use it, considering that he never trained with a sword before.

'I'll let my future self deal with that. Let's go get some prep'

He thought as he headed for a weapon shop that had good looking weapons on display. As he reached the shop, he could see different varieties of weapons such as knives, katanas, spears, daggers, butcher knives, scythes and blades of all kind. He was awed by their beauty and splendour. The sight was just down right majestic.

Just as he was appreciating the scenery, an old man came over and tapped Sean's back and said..

"You're blocking the view Young man, customers won't be able to see my awesome collections you know"

Sean was brought back to reality and had a quick glance at the old man before replying.

"ohh, I'm sorry sir, I was just admiring your work." he said as he backed up a little since he wasn't that good with people.

"ohh, I see. Anything caught your interest?" The old man asked as he stared hard at him as if trying to read him.

"umm, well, I need a weapon I can use at an expedition which is about to take place on Saturday so I don't know what to choose."

"ohh, I get you. So which weapon are you the most adapted to?"

"None, actually. I haven't used one before" Sean said as he scratched his cheek in embarrassment.

"hmm, I suggest you try a sword. It is the best at these situations. In fact I think I have the right one for you" the old man spoke as he stroked his beard. He then went in his store room and brought a sword that had a sharp blade, intricate designs on its handle. It was golden in color. It was a majestic sword.

"woah, that's beautiful. How much is it?" asked Sean as stars shone in his eyes as he looked at the sword deeply.

"it costs 5 gold coins" said the old man as he placed the sword on a table and looked at Sean for his response.

"w-wha..." Sean was beyond shocked.

This world's currency was coins that were bronze, silver, gold and platinum coins. 100 bronze coins were 1 silver coin. 100 silver coins equal to 1 gold coin. 100 gold coins equal to 1 platinum coins. So in other words this sword was 500 good silver coins. So EXPENSIVE!

He only had about 250 silver coins. That was only half... and that was all his life savings and still it wasn't enough.

"ugh, well I can't afford that sir. Sorry for wasting your time." he said as he dejectedly turned around and headed outside.

*SIGH*

"Stop. Even though you cannot buy this one. There is another surprise I got for you. Although it's not a new weapon it still performs really well. Even though it costs 309 coind I will sell it to you for the 250 you have.

" Ummm.... " Sean was in a tight spot now, he didn't know what do decide.

'well, why am I hesitant? If I don't buy any weapon I'd be good as dead there, well it's not like I'm confident in surviving with a weapon either but still...'

"... Can I see the weapon? "

"Sure. There are twin daggers, they are a little rusty but they'll do. Wait here, I'll be right back."

"umu"

With that the old man went to the store room again and brought a box that had dragon illustrations in it. It looked quite intimidating. He then placed the box on the table and slowly opened it to reveal two daggers laying silently in the box as if waiting for their master.

The twin daggers were a sight to behold, even in their weathered state. Each blade was about a foot long, forged from a mysterious dark metal that seemed to drink in the surrounding light. Despite their rusted appearance, faint, intricate patterns of celestial constellations and swirling flames were etched along their surfaces, glowing faintly in dim light. The hilts, wrapped in what appeared to be ancient, tattered leather, were adorned with golden pommels shaped like roaring dragon heads, their eyes set with tiny, dull gemstones that once likely blazed with power.

Though rust and age have dulled their edges and sheen, the aura emanating from the daggers was unmistakably divine. A faint hum of energy surrounded them, as though they're remnants of a bygone era, yearning to be wielded once more. Despite their decrepit state, these weapons command reverence, whispering of untold power and ancient glory to those who dare to grasp them.

They were simply DIVINE!

"I'll buy them!"

Sean declared as he never let his eyes off the daggers. He was engrossed in their beauty and splendor.

"Hahaha, aren't you scared that they are maybe..... Fake?" the old man asked curiously.

"I may not be sociable but I can tell that you are a good person." replied Sean honestly.

"HAHAHA!... I like that. Anyway, my name is Malvin Skyle."

"Nice to meet you. I'm Sean"

"same here. Use them well"

"I will. See you soon" he said as he turned and left.

'I hope I was right'. The old man thought as he went back in his shop.
