Chapter 46 - Chapter 46: The Police Are Here

"Fuck, Fuck, Fuck,!" Seeing Jiang Hai over there, who had already dealt with the people he brought with him in a hurry, Faraday Wilson was really anxious. While yelling and cursing, he opened the trunk of his car with his trembling right hand. As the trunk opened, an 80% new M16 appeared in the air.

This M16 did not have a magazine installed, but there was no doubt that the gun was there, and the magazine was not far away.

Faraday hurriedly took a look at the five-round magazine in front of him and immediately installed it.

Although it was a civilian gun, no one would be naive enough to think that a civilian gun couldn't kill people!

After installing the magazine and pulling the bolt, Faraday was already anxious, as Jiang Hai had already solved the last person. Now, Faraday could no longer afford to care. He had only one idea: to get rid of Jiang Hai.

If he killed Jiang Hai directly, it would be bad luck for both of them. After all, the arrow was on the string and had to be fired. He cursed silently and picked up the gun, ready to get rid of Jiang Hai.

"Go to hell!" Hearing Faraday's shout, Jiang Hai immediately focused his attention on him.

When Jiang Hai saw the handle of the gun as Faraday drew it, his eyelids twitched wildly.

Although his physical fitness had reached the limits of human ability, could he withstand bullets? That was impossible.

If the bullet hit him, he would die. He hadn't expected that the small-time gangsters in the United States would be so involved in gun battles.

In panic, Jiang Hai's mind raced. First, he wondered if he could attack Faraday now, but then he realized he didn't have the ability to dodge bullets. He couldn't possibly dodge them, so that idea was out. The second option was to find a way to strike from a distance, to make the guy lose his combat effectiveness. The best way to strike from a distance was with a gun, but now Jiang Hai didn't have one, so he could only use something else.

At that moment, he noticed a motorcycle nearby, with a safety helmet hanging on it.

When Jiang Hai saw the helmet, his eyes lit up. He stepped over to the side of the motorcycle in an instant. With a quick move, he kicked the helmet into the air. Without hesitation, he shot the helmet out. This sequence of actions took less than two seconds. It was not an exaggeration to say it was like a flash of lightning. By the time Faraday had just raised his gun, Jiang Hai's helmet had already hit him.

Faraday didn't even have time to find Jiang Hai before the red helmet hit him squarely in the face with a loud thud. The impact caused blood to splash everywhere, and several teeth flew out. Faraday felt his mind go blank, and he collapsed, shot all over his body, and fell weakly.

Seeing Faraday fall, Jiang Hai couldn't help but breathe a sigh of relief. It was a close call.

Jiang Hai had been highly focused, so he hadn't felt anything up until now. But now that he was relaxing, he felt pain all over his body and a bit of weakness. The spots where he had been hit were sore. He had been too careless this time.

"What should I do now? Should I call the police?" Jiang Hai muttered softly, looking at the guys lying on the ground in front of him.

"Catch them, catch them, catch them..." But he didn't need to call the police. At that moment, a shrill alarm sounded.

Like the police in China, the police in the United States usually only show up after things have happened.

Six or seven police cars arrived in a row, stopping at the outermost perimeter of Jiang Hai and his group. When the officers got out of the cars and saw the miserable situation before them, their faces, previously casual, immediately became serious.

"Get on the ground and put your hands on your head." Unlike the police in China, who need to apply for firearms, the police in the United States always carry guns. Immediately, these officers raised their guns and pointed them at Jiang Hai and his group.

"Police! Police! Help! Call an ambulance!" Seeing the police arrive, the people who had been stunned by Jiang Hai's force and were still conscious screamed while covering their wounds. Hearing their screams, the police quickly moved in.

When they saw the people lying on the ground and Jiang Hai sitting there, their faces turned grim.

"Don't move, hands on your head." Most of the police went to check the area and immediately reported to their superiors and notified the hospital. Meanwhile, the other three officers walked up to Jiang Hai, pointing their guns at him, fearing he might go berserk.

"I'm exhausted, you can do whatever you want," Jiang Hai said lightly, glancing at the three officers. Upon hearing his admission of exhaustion, the officers looked at each other. One of them put away his gun, took out handcuffs, and cuffed Jiang Hai.

At this point, Jiang Hai made no other moves. It wasn't that he was willing to be arrested, but he was genuinely exhausted. Moreover, if he tried to run, the police might actually shoot him. And in essence, this wasn't his fault. He had acted in self-defense—after all, it had been one against eleven, and the other party had guns. Even if he had killed someone, it would have been self-defense and wouldn't be considered excessive force.

In essence, he was the victim here, and he wasn't afraid of these actions. After being handcuffed, Jiang Hai was shoved into a police car. Not long after, seven ambulances arrived.

After taking the injured away, the police escorted Jiang Hai to the station.

He was then placed in an interrogation room. The two officers in charge of questioning him were not very old: a man and a woman. The woman appeared to be in her twenties, likely just starting out in her career, while the man looked older, though his eyes kept wandering toward the woman. It was obvious that the man was interested in her, but the woman showed no such interest.

"Name," the female officer said, looking at Jiang Hai in a businesslike manner.

"Jiang Hai."

"Gender?"

"Male."

"Age?"

"Twenty-seven."

"Are you an American citizen, or do you have a green card?"

After recording the basic information, the woman looked at Jiang Hai coldly.

"I have a green card, an investment green card. Otherwise, I wouldn't have come in with you." Jiang Hai replied indifferently.

"Be honest. Answer only what I ask you, and if I don't ask, don't say anything." The woman frowned slightly at Jiang Hai's response. Seeing this, the male officer immediately scolded her.

Jiang Hai was taken aback by his response. He had always heard that U.S. police were civilized. Well, relatively speaking, they didn't seem very pleasant now. If Jiang Hai were just an ordinary citizen, he might have tolerated it.

But Jiang Hai wasn't an ordinary citizen, so he sat up straight and looked at the two officers calmly.

"If you don't understand, don't say anything. Just watch him. I'll go verify his identity," the female officer said, frowning even more at the man's words. She had noticed Jiang Hai was an investment immigrant and, given his appearance and the all-terrain vehicle he was driving, she suspected he wasn't a typical white-collar worker in Boston. The East Coast wasn't like the West Coast, with its many Chinese investment immigrants, especially near Winthrop County.

The only recent investment project seemed to be Green Forest. If Jiang Hai was indeed the boss of Green Forest, they would need to handle the case carefully, as wealthy individuals in the U.S. could not be offended.

"Okay, don't worry!" The man said with a smile, and after watching the woman leave, he sat back in his chair, casting a playful look at Jiang Hai.

Noticing that Jiang Hai was young and his clothes weren't expensive, the man's thoughts began to turn.

"Do you realize how serious your situation is?" The man said disdainfully as he looked at Jiang Hai.

"I don't know," Jiang Hai replied, smiling. He wanted to see what the man would say next.

"Don't know? Haha, well let me tell you. You injured eleven people, almost all of whom are disabled. Three broke their arms, two broke their legs, four had broken ribs, and two suffered serious blows to their faces. The lighter ones had concussions and broken noses, and the more serious one had a concussion, intracranial hemorrhage, broken facial bones, and seven lost teeth. Tsk, you were really brutal. These charges alone are enough to put you in prison for decades."

In the U.S., death sentences were rare. However, long prison sentences were common, ranging from decades to life imprisonment. The severity of the charges meant Jiang Hai could face life in prison.

"I was defending myself. They pulled their guns first. I shot them dead, but it was for nothing," Jiang Hai chuckled as he responded. The man laughed even harder after hearing this.
