Chapter 1 - THE MARK OF THE MEDALLION

MEVIDAL

Sunlight bathes the lush fields of Mevidal, a kingdom renowned for its bounty. Farmers tend to crops, laughter echoes through the air. A picture of idyllic peace. But the serenity is shattered.

A deafening roar erupts. The sky is pierced by a blinding flash of light.

The ground trembles. Buildings crumble. Panic erupts as a colossal asteroid, trailing a fiery debris field, hurtles towards the kingdom.

PALACE

King ALARIC (60s, weathered but regal) watches in horror from the palace balcony with his three sons:

KAEL (20s), brooding and intense, his eyes filled with a growing unease.

LIAM (18), impulsive and reckless, already reaching for his sword despite its uselessness against such a celestial threat.

ETHAN (16), the youngest, mischievous and curious, wide-eyed with a mixture of fear and fascination.

ALARIC

(Voice trembling)

My God...

LIAM

(Panicked)

What is it, Father?

ALARIC

(Pointing)

Look!

The asteroid crashes into the earth, a cataclysmic impact that throws the kingdom into chaos.

MEVIDAL

The shockwave obliterates everything in its path. Buildings collapse, trees are uprooted, and the air fills with dust and screams. People are thrown into the air like ragdolls, their cries swallowed by the deafening roar of the impact.

PALACE

The palace itself is rocked violently. Debris rains down. Ethan is flung against a wall, unconscious. Dust and smoke fill the air, choking the remaining occupants.

Amidst the chaos, a strange energy emanates from the debris field.

PALACE

Kael is engulfed in a blinding blue light. He screams in agony as his body contorts, transforming into a monstrous figure with six arms. His eyes, glowing an eerie blue, widen in terror as he struggles to regain control.

Liam, thrown across the room, is caught in a sudden, violent wind. He's tossed and turned, his face contorted in pain. He feels an exhilarating sense of freedom, yet also a terrifying loss of control as he is swept away by the invisible force.

Alaric, shielding his eyes from the debris, sees a fiery bolt strike Ethan. The boy is thrown backwards, crashing into a marble column with a sickening thud. His body convulses, and a searing pain erupts from his chest.

MEVIDAL

The asteroid, now a smoking crater, lies amidst the devastation. The once vibrant kingdom is now a scene of utter desolation. Fires rage, smoke billows into the sky, and the air is thick with the smell of smoke and blood.

HOSPITAL - FOUR MONTHS LATER

The King, his sons, and the Queen, ELARA, lie in separate beds, weak and pale. They awaken slowly, disoriented.

ELARA

(Whispering, her voice hoarse)

Alaric? Are you alright?

Alaric, groggily, reaches out to hold her hand.

ALARIC

Elara... I... I don't understand...

HOSPITAL - LATER

The Royal Family, still recovering, are overwhelmed by the scale of the destruction. The once-thriving kingdom is now a ghost town. The laughter and music of the past are replaced by the mournful cries of the survivors.

MEVIDAL

Weeks turn into months. The survivors rebuild, their spirits buoyed by the miraculous recovery of their King and Princes. But the scars of the tragedy run deep.

PALACE

Alaric, now stronger than ever, finds himself inexplicably drawn to fire. His eyes flash red, and flames erupt from his hands. Terrified, he tries to control the sudden surge of power, his hands trembling as he struggles to extinguish the flames.

Kael, meanwhile, experiences terrifying visions. He sees himself as the monstrous creature he transformed into, his six arms reaching out, clawing at the air, destroying everything in his path. He wakes up in a cold sweat, his heart pounding.

Liam, running through the palace gardens, discovers he can move with unnatural speed, a whirlwind of motion. He feels a strange connection to the wind, as if he can command it. He races through the gardens, a blur of motion, leaving behind a trail of swirling leaves and startled birds.

Ethan, still recovering from his injuries, stumbles upon a pool of water. As he reaches out to touch it, the water ripples and surges, creating a small wave that washes over his hands. He stares at his hands, bewildered, a sense of wonder and fear washing over him.

PALACE

Alaric, disturbed by the strange occurrences, summons the only surviving successor of the previous King, an elderly man named ELDOR.

ELDOR

(Eyes filled with a mixture of awe and dread)

Your Majesties, the medallion chains... they were meant to protect you. To grant you... strength.

KAEL

(Intrigued)

Strength? What kind of strength?

ELDOR

(Hesitantly)

The power... of the elements.

LIAM

(Scoffs)

Elements? What nonsense is this?

ELDOR

(Shaking his head)

The chains, given to you by the fallen successors, possess immense power. Power that can be divided, but never truly separated.

ETHAN

(Confused)

Divided?

ELDOR

(Looking at each of them in turn)

One part will be bound, the other free. The bound power will be stronger, more potent.

ALARIC

(Concerned)

Bound? What does that mean?

ELDOR

(His voice dropping to a whisper)

The chains themselves... they cannot be removed.

The King and his sons exchange stunned glances. The weight of Eldor's words hangs heavy in the air, a chilling reminder of the extraordinary burden they now carry.

FADE OUT.
