Chapter 18 - Chapter 18: Whispers Through the Window

Zian lay on his bed, his body tired from the day's events. The soft rustle of leaves outside his room was the only sound in the quiet night. Just as his eyes began to close, a familiar voice broke through the stillness.

"Zian! Open the window!"

Startled, Zian sat up and frowned. He reluctantly got out of bed and opened the window, finding Yu grinning up at him. "What are you doing here?" Zian whispered harshly. "If Master sees you, he'll scold you! Go back to your room and sleep!"

Without waiting for an answer, Zian tried to close the window, but Yu caught it with his hand. "Hey, Beauty! Why are you so mad? Master's already asleep, and you know how he is—once he's out, nothing can wake him. So relax and open the window."

Zian sighed, giving in. He opened the window again and crossed his arms. "Alright, fine. What do you want, Yu?"

Yu leaned against the windowsill, his mischievous smile softening. "I can't sleep."

Zian rolled his eyes. "If you try to sleep, you will. Now go back to your room."

Yu chuckled, his tone playful. "Why are you in such a hurry to close the window? It's like you're scared a monster's standing outside."

"If there was a monster, I wouldn't have opened the window in the first place," Zian retorted. "And I'm in a hurry because I'm tired, Yu. I want to sleep."

Yu smirked, tilting his head. "Oh, I see. Well, fine, you can sleep. Just leave the window open, alright?"

Zian raised an eyebrow. "Why do you want the window open?"

Yu leaned closer, his voice dropping to a softer tone. "I just want to look at you while you sleep. That's all. I promise I won't disturb you."

Zian's cheeks flushed a deep red. "W-what?" he stammered.

Yu laughed. "See? You're blushing again! You're so easy to tease, Zian."

Zian glared at him. "Enough, Yu. Go back to your room and stop acting like this."

Yu held up his hands in mock surrender. "Alright, alright. I won't say anything else. Don't be mad. I was just… admiring the moon tonight." He gestured toward the sky, where the full moon cast a gentle glow over the trees. "It's beautiful, isn't it?"

Zian glanced up at the moon and nodded. "Yes, it is."

Yu immediately quipped, "But not as beautiful as your face."

Zian froze, his patience finally snapping. Without a word, he slammed the window shut, leaving Yu outside.

"Hey, Zian! Don't be mad!" Yu called through the glass. "I'm sorry, okay? Bye for now!"

On the other side of the window, Zian leaned against the wall, his face burning red, his heart racing. He pressed a hand to his chest, trying to calm himself.

"That idiot," he muttered, though his lips curved into a faint smile as he crawled back into bed, his mind replaying Yu's words over and over.

Outside, Yu stood under the moonlight, grinning to himself. "He's so cute when he's flustered," he murmured, before quietly making his way back to his own room.
