I know how much of a fool I've been when I presumptuously told her friend Jenna she was mine. My thoughts were scattered as I watched her tryout for the gymnastics team and she dominated hers if you judge the crowd who applauded (including me, why not?).
:)
"Is she a gymnast before?" I asked.
"I heard she was a cheerleader before." William said. "Right, Jenna?"
"Yes." Jenna said.
"Then why is she trying out for gymnastics?" I questioned.
"You'd rather let your 'girlfriend' be with those cheating whores?" Jenna whispered.
True enough. I remember from one of William's ex who was a cheerleader was exposed doing something malicious with another guy. He got so angry that he shamed the two of them during js prom making the poor Chelsea kicked out of her friend group. I felt bad for her, though.
"Should they even give her a tryout? She's outshining almost everybody." William mumbled.
I chuckled, elbowing him lightly.
"That's how it is." Jenna said.
After the whole tryout program, the four of us went to the mall. Jenna and Dawn needed something and I cannot just leave Dawn walk alone at night.
"It's 3 pm, though." She said.
Her sarcasm hits me most of the time. It's pretty hilarious to hear, but dang. William had to tag along reluctantly because he ain't going home without me either.
"That's too much of you that even I am getting worried if you lost your sanity." William muttered as we waited for the girls.
"C'mon man. I sucked up with you when you were like me before." I said.
"Yeah, and we were actually dating. Your partner doesn't even see you that way." He reasoned.
"We are MORE than dating. We're bound man." I told him.
"Bound forcefully you mean. To think you'd fall for her that easily when there are other girls who make better."
"Are you saying she isn't good?"
"No. But the girl is trying to blend in with the crowd and if word gets out that you two were dating she'll be bombarded with those jealous snakes you rejected but can't get over you."
"I agree." Her voice says, behind us.
"I would love a little drama but snakes are quite annoying to deal with." She said, sipping her coffee.
"Are you done?" I smiled sweetly.
"Yeah, still waiting for Jenna." She replied.
I glanced at the dozens of shopping bags she was holding with her slender hand. I feel manly so I politely took it from her intentionally helping her.
"Uh, thanks." She said stone-faced.
"Seriously." William said.
I glared daggers at him for saying that in front of her. I did not act that way when I've been third-wheeling his dates with plastic girls and now he is acting that way when I just found myself a girl. Is he gay for some reason? Or bisexual? Because then, I won't be able to reciprocate his feelings. And I am siding with the girl I love, of course. >.<
I let him off since she didn't even give a thing about it.
Lucky.
"By the way, I thought you were a cheerleader? Why'd you sign up for gymnastics?" William asked.
Now I feel like punching his face. If I weren't holding these bags and we're not inside a mall, I would be beating him to a pulp there and then.
"Jenna told me cheerleading ain't no good. She even said, they're dumb whores." She replied.
"Caroline is there though." He said.
"Whatever."
"You could've signed up for cheerleading. Gymnast is really hard." William said.
"Leave her be." I warned, standing up to her side.
"Really? Are you perhaps a gymnast too?" She smiled, her eyes glinting.
I gave William a warning look. He's really getting on my nerves now.
"No." He shrugged.
"Then which club are you in?" She asked, with interest.
I totally did not get what was going on now.
"Haven't decide which one yet." He replied.
"Aww." Her tone shifted. "Sad."
That was when I finally got the tension between the two that was already brewing but I haven't even noticed. It's because both of them are smiling sweetly but their language is silently stabbing each other. William was provoking her but she mocked him for not even joining a club yet.
I know William very well that he would pick a rivalry regardless of who it is, girl or boy. Anybody that he hated no matter the gender, age, or whatever. I've never seen him at a loss for that, but now that he lost that round, things are gonna get pretty tense now.
"Not as sad as being a gymnast, instead of continued being a cheerleader." He sighed, mockingly.
"I get that." She grinned, her eyes getting darker with every second. "It's not often that I get to hear judgements from an amateur before."
William was totally getting provoked right now. And as much as I hate to see my friend lose, I'm rooting for my girl.
"Only fools would dismiss an advice. I was being nice to you new girl, never thought you'd be this shallow." He responded.
"Thank you for your effort, but I only give an ear to those who make reasonable decisions. Sadly, you're far from that." She sighed helplessly.
"Never have I met someone who doesn't pay respect to a senior, before. I'm a year older than you, don't forget that." He said.
"You want my respect? Earn it." She replies stubbornly.
"Are you picking a fight?" His tone was dangerous.
"A fight would cure my boredom, but I don't think you can give me a hard time." She raised an eyebrow smugly.
"If you aren't my friend's girl, I would've give you what you deserve."
"I doubt you can't even try when you can't even win an argument with a girl." She smirked. "No wonder girls would rather pick a nerd to date with."
"What did you say?" His fist balled as nerves became visible showing that he's angry.
I was stunned there, watching them fight verbally. I couldn't even butt in a single word to cut them off. And I never knew she was a devil when she's angry.
"Oops, did I strike a nerve?" She giggled, mockingly.
My reflexes sprung as I grabbed her into my arms before William could dare land a blow on her.
"That's enough, both of you." I snapped.
The two finally lay their eyes on me, speechless. Jenna just came over holding a bunch of shopping bags and was surprised with the scene in front of her. Me protectively holding Dawn in my arms while she and William were glowering daggers at each other.
"We're going. Right now." I dragged her along with me, away from that pickle-head William.
