Alarm
Alarm
"Attention, everyone! Experiment 0015: [Corrosive] has escaped from his cell. Please be careful. Control soldiers will arrive shortly. Please remain calm."
A young man slowly opened his eyes upon hearing the alarm, his face remaining impassive.
"What an annoying sound," he thought, though his expression did not change at all.
As he was about to close his eyes again to continue resting, the echo of gunshots resonated through the metal walls of his cell.
"Tsk." Too annoying, the young man thought, this time frowning in obvious annoyance.
The young man turned his head towards the camera in his cell and said in a cold voice,
"Hey, you, the one looking through the camera."
The camera moved, focusing directly on his face. Then, the young man spoke again:
"If the guards do not lower the volume of their weapons a little, their heads will roll on the floor. Understood?"
The young man's voice was icy, without a trace of doubt.
The man watching through the camera began to sweat cold and quickly called a high-ranking officer to inform him of the young man's words. The officer, upon hearing the message, immediately sent instructions to the guards. They, upon hearing the words of "The Beast", also began to sweat cold, but they obeyed the orders and carried out their work more stealthily until they captured experiment 0015.
When silence returned, the young man nodded in satisfaction.
"Good. All calm, just the way I like it," he thought.
The name of this young man was Akiro, an orphan who had been snatched from his childhood and raised inside that cell, where he was subjected to inhuman experiments alongside other children. However, none of the others survived the first experiment; Only Akiro succeeded.
Recently, scientists had modified the experiment, achieving some successful results in other subjects. However, none were as strong as Akiro.
These experiments gave children superhuman abilities, similar to powers, although many times they went wrong and they ended up dead or completely insane.
Akiro had demonstrated three main abilities to scientists:
Superhuman speed: He can move 460 km in one second. Although he feels that he has no limit, he decided to maintain that speed so as not to exceed himself. After all, moving faster than the fastest bullet train in the world was already, according to him, "exaggerated."
Superhuman physical strength: He can pass through steel and titanium as if they were paper.
Perfect memory: He remembers absolutely everything he sees and, in addition, he can erase memories that he does not want to keep whenever he wants.
You may wonder why Akiro does not run away being practically invincible. The answer is simple: because of food.
Yes, food. For him, there was no need to run away. What was the point of escaping if he had no one outside? He preferred to receive daily food in exchange for performing small tasks, such as eliminating failed experiments or enemies of the Ember organization.
Akiro felt no hatred or contempt towards the organization. In his eyes, they were nothing more than living corpses playing at being gods. And if anyone tried to bother him, he did not hesitate to change his status from "living corpse" to "dead corpse."
As long as he was given food and comfort, he had no interest in the organization's power plays, as long as they did not interfere with his peace of mind.
A week later
It was a peaceful and relaxing day for Akiro until…
The ruler of the country where Ember was hiding discovered their location and ordered to eliminate the organization and rescue all the children and young people used as experiments.
Akiro's thought:
"Well... here ends my peaceful life."
With a sigh, he stood up from his cell and watched as government officials massacred all the members of the Ember organization.
He did nothing to stop them; he didn't care what happened to Ember. Although his daily food was taken away, he thought he could get it later. Now he was curious if there was any other kind of food outside.
A government officer came to his cell, opened it, and spoke to him in a tone that was meant to be reassuring.
"Relax, kid. Everything is fine now. You are free," the officer said with a kind smile.
Akiro stared at him for a few seconds, then nodded. The officer, interpreting his silence as fear, gestured for him to follow. Akiro complied, climbed into a rescue van, and waited.
It was 30 minutes before the vehicle began to move.
Akiro slowly opened his eyes as he felt the movement. The other young men chatted among themselves, but no one dared to talk to him. They all knew who he was, though Akiro wasn't interested in talking to them either.
They arrived at Star City, a city famous for its culture and for celebrating Moon Wish Day, an event that occurs every five years. According to myth, during this day, the Moon grants a wish to only one person in the world, no matter who it is.
But... that was just a myth, right?
Curiously, that day, right when the government destroyed Ember, was Moon Wish Day.
Akiro, who had read about this event thanks to the information he forced Ember to give him, thought the myth was nonsense. As the van headed into the city, he recited in a mocking tone:
"I wish to travel to the romance novel I read called: Academy with a Harem?"
After a few seconds of silence, he began to laugh at the absurdity of what he had said, scaring the other young people, who almost peed themselves in fear.
Akiro, amused by his own joke, gave them a look with a smile that was not a smile.
The others began to laugh forcibly, with fake smiles, but Akiro didn't care. For him, the important thing was that they laughed, even if it was out of obligation.
Unbeknownst to him, Akiro's wish would come true. Although he said it as a joke, once the Moon of Wish hears a wish, there is no stopping it.
