Chapter 2 - Chapter Two: Secret and Lies

As Ava unpacked her bags, she couldn't help but feel a sense of nostalgia wash over her. She had lived in this apartment for several years before leaving City B, and it felt like a lifetime ago.

As she put away her clothes and toiletries, Ava's mind began to wander back to the past. She thought about her parents, and the happy memories they had made together as a family. She thought about her friends, and the good times they had shared. And she thought about the mistakes she had made, and the lessons she had learned.

As Ava finished unpacking, she took a step back and looked around her apartment. It was small, but it was cozy, and it felt like home. She smiled, feeling a sense of contentment wash over her.

Just then, Ava's phone buzzed again. This time, it was a call from an unknown number. Ava hesitated for a moment, wondering who it could be. But then she decided to answer it.

"Hello?" Ava said, trying to sound cheerful.

"Ava, it's Ethan," a deep voice said on the other end of the line. "Welcome back to City B."

Ava's heart skipped a beat as she heard her brother's voice. She hadn't spoken to him in years, and she wasn't sure what to expect.

"Ethan," Ava said, trying to sound calm. "It's good to hear from you. How are you?"

"I'm doing okay, I guess," Ethan said, sounding hesitant. "Look, Ava, I know we haven't spoken in a while, but I need to talk to you about something. Can we meet up?"

Ava's curiosity was piqued. What could Ethan possibly want to talk to her about

"Okay, sure," Ava said, trying to sound casual. "When and where do you want to meet?"

"How about we meet at the coffee shop on 5th Street at 2 pm tomorrow?" Ethan suggested.

Ava nodded, even though Ethan couldn't see her. "Okay, that sounds good. I'll be there."

As Ava hung up the phone, she couldn't help but wonder what Ethan wanted to talk to her about. Was it something to do with their family's business? Or was it something more personal?

Ava shrugged, deciding not to worry about it for now. She would find out soon enough.

As she put her phone away, Ava realized that she was feeling hungry. She decided to order some takeout and spend the rest of the evening relaxing in her apartment.

As she waited for her food to arrive, Ava sat down on her couch and turned on the TV. She flipped through the channels, trying to find something interesting to watch.

But as she scrolled through the channels, Ava's mind kept wandering back to her conversation with Ethan. What did he want to talk to her about? And why did he sound so serious?

Ava sighed, deciding to push the thoughts aside for now. She would find out soon enough.

As she waited for her food to arrive, Ava settled in for a quiet night at home, trying to put her worries aside. But as she drifted off to sleep, she couldn't shake the feeling that something was off.

The next morning, Ava woke up feeling refreshed and ready to face the day. She got dressed and headed to the coffee shop on 5th Street, where she was supposed to meet Ethan.

As she walked in, Ava scanned the room, looking for her brother. She spotted him sitting in the corner, sipping on a cup of coffee. He looked up and caught her eye, nodding in greeting.

Ava made her way over to him, feeling a mix of emotions. She was happy to see her brother, but she was also nervous about what he might want to talk to her about.

"Hey, Ethan," Ava said, sitting down across from him.

"Hey, Ava," Ethan replied, smiling. "It's good to see you."

Ava smiled back, feeling a sense of awkwardness. They hadn't spoken in years, and it felt like there was a lot of unresolved tension between them.

"So, what did you want to talk to me about?" Ava asked, getting straight to the point.

Ethan hesitated, taking a sip of his coffee before speaking. "Ava, I know we haven't always seen eye to eye, but I need to talk to you about something important."

Ava leaned in, her curiosity piqued. "What is it?"

Ethan took a deep breath before speaking. "It's about the family business. I know you've been away for a while, but I think you need to know what's been going on."

Ava's eyes narrowed, her mind racing with possibilities. What could Ethan possibly want to tell her about the family business?

"What do you mean?" Ava asked, trying to keep her tone neutral.

Ethan leaned in, his voice dropping to a whisper. "Ava, the family business is in trouble. Father's been making some... questionable decisions, and it's put us in a difficult position.

Ava's eyes widened, her mind reeling with shock. What kind of decisions could their father have made that would put the family business in trouble.

"What kind of decisions?" Ava asked, her voice barely above a whisper.

Ethan hesitated, looking around the coffee shop nervously. "I don't think we should discuss this here," he said. "Can we go somewhere else?"

Ava nodded, feeling a sense of trepidation. What was going on with the family business? And what did Ethan mean by "questionable decisions"?

As they left the coffee shop, Ava couldn't shake the feeling that something was off. She had a feeling that her life was about to change in ways she couldn't even imagine.

As they walked out of the coffee shop, Ethan led Ava to a nearby park. They found a quiet bench and sat down, Ethan looking around cautiously before speaking.

"Ava, I know you've been away for a while, but I think you need to know what's been going on which has never been known to you", Ethan said.
