"Victor, where the hell are you goin'?" Julia Voss's face showed surprise when she saw her husband packing his bags.He glanced at her for a sec, then went back to packing. "Gotta go, emergency. I caught an employee stealing from the company. I gotta catch the creep myself!"Her mind spun. She knew about the stolen money, but it was their first night as husband and wife! They'd just gotten married, and she was still in her wedding dress. Her heart pounded as she stared at Victor, like he was crazy. "Can't you just tell Ray to handle it? Why do you have to leave now? For Pete's sake, it's our wedding night! You're gonna leave me on our honeymoon?"He seemed annoyed, stopped packing, and looked at her straight. "Are you serious? Why would I tell Ray to do this?""Why not? He's your assistant. Your right-hand man for everything," she said, getting upset. He scoffed. "Hah. Ray's just an employee I pay. What does he know about this? You're saying that 'cause you don't know anything about business," he muttered angrily. She was bothered by how he talked about Ray, but she was more worried about her husband leaving on their first night! She knew Victor would give up anything for business. She went up to him, hugged him from behind, and pressed her body against his. Hoping her presence might change his mind. She'd never been bold before, but now she was his wife. No more shyness. She slowly lowered her wedding gown to her waist, pressing her chest against his back."Please, Victor, don't go. You promised we'd have time together after the wedding, right? Can you really leave me...?" She kissed his neck repeatedly. She had never done anything like this with Victor when they were just dating. They never went beyond kisses and hugs. But now, he was her husband, and she was ready to give it all for him.She expected Victor to struggle with it, but she was surprised when he suddenly pushed her away, breaking their embrace. "I'm leaving tonight, and you can't stop me. What are you even doing? I've got you living in a mansion, with housemaids, fully stocked and all the food you want. Everything you could wish for is right here," he said, looking around their master bedroom. Her heart sank a bit at his words. It felt like he was saying she married him for all the material stuff he could give. Victor was rich, and his family was loaded. Saying they were rich didn't even cover it; they were billionaires, some of the wealthiest in the country. But that wasn't why she married him. She loved Victor. He was her life. She had loved him even before she knew his financial status."I d-don't need those things you mentioned. I need you, Victor. Please. It's our first night as a married couple?" Julia's words were filled with desperation.Victor frowned at what she said. "You don't need what I said? Who are you kidding? Don't worry, I'll be back, I'll call you. So, stop with the drama, okay?"As he closed the suitcase, he adjusted his suit and tie, each move seeming quicker. He walked by the full-length mirror, fixed his hair, and even sprayed on some expensive perfume. She furrowed her brow. "You're just gonna catch your employee, do you really need to look sharp for that?"That's when Victor lost his patience. "You know, you see a lot of things. Your questions are driving me crazy. I wanna look presentable so that guy knows who he's messing with. I want him to feel embarrassed after I gave him a job. Anyway, I'm outta here."Julia hoped he would kiss her or pull her in closer, but that didn't happen. He walked straight out of their bedroom door, so she followed him into the living room, hoping he would do what she expected. But instead, Victor got in his car and drove off without even looking at her.Suddenly, she felt a sadness she couldn't explain. It felt like her chest was tightening, and tears were pooling around her eyes. When did Victor become like this? Why did he seem so different? He wasn't like this before. She glanced around their luxurious mansion. Her husband was right—everything was there, fully equipped, and anything she wanted was available. But why didn't she feel happy? It felt like her husband had changed so much."Seriously, your husband really left you during your honeymoon? And he didn't even hug or kiss you," a mocking voice whispered in a corner of her mind. She shook her head. She shouldn't think badly of Victor. Now that she was Mrs. Julia Voss, she needed to be more understanding of her husband. Maybe he was just stressed and had a lot on his mind. She went back to their master bedroom and lay down on the bed. She looked for her cellphone and checked her messages. Most were from her family, congratulating her on the wedding. She hoped to get a message from Victor's family, but there was nothing.Sadness poured into her heart. Earlier at the church, no one from Victor's family showed up, no matter how fancy her wedding was. Only his company employees came. Her thoughts were wandering when suddenly her phone rang. Her eyes lit up when she saw Mrs. Evelyn Voss on the screen, Victor's mom.She quickly got up from the bed and answered the call. "Mom, I'm so glad you called. I thought you'd forget about me. It's too bad you couldn't make it to our wedding. How are you and Dad doing?" She raised her voice, hoping their conversation would be upbeat."Julia, come to the house now. I need your help. Henry's having chest pain. You need to leave right this minute." That was all the answer she got—just an order. Her heart raced with worry for Victor's dad. But then she remembered that Victor took their car, and she had no way to get there. "Victor took the car, Mom. But I can—"Her mother-in-law interrupted. "Why do you need a car to get here? You're good with public transport. I mean, you married my son, and you can't handle things like you used to? Just get here now. I need your help," she said, sounding annoyed.Julia wanted to get mad and set her mother-in-law straight, but she realized maybe Victor's mother was just worried about her husband and panicking in the current situation."Just take the bus here. Buses run all the time, and you won't get lost. I'll send my driver to pick you up when you get to the terminal, okay?"She nodded even though her mom couldn't see her. "Okay, Mom. I'll get ready right now."There was no thank you from the older woman, and she hung up the call. Julia quickly messaged Victor, telling him that his mom called her for help. She wasted no time and hurriedly packed three outfits and some personal things.Worried she might take too long, she skipped the shower. She said goodbye to the housemaids, asking them to tell Victor what happened. As she looked around their luxurious mansion, she felt annoyed. Her husband was a billionaire, but why the hell was there only one car at their house? So, she just booked a car service to take her to the bus terminal. When she got to the terminal, she quickly asked where to buy a ticket to Saint Claire, where Victor's parents lived."How many hours does it take to get to Saint Claire?" she asked one of the staff."Miss, Saint Claire is pretty far from here. It takes about five to six hours," the staff replied. She sighed. But Victor's parents needed her. She paid for her ticket and hopped on the bus, looking for a comfy seat; she wanted a window seat. She sat down and closed her eyes. Prayers started flooding her mind, hoping nothing would go wrong during the trip since it was her first time traveling at this hour and to a place she wasn't familiar with.On the other side, a smirking voice chuckled. "Don't worry. I assure you, that stupid woman is coming here. Just like a dog with its tail between its legs. Relax, all our plans will go down tonight," the voice whispered with a confident smirk."Very good. I can't wait to see that woman crawled in mud,"The two voices laughed evilly together. What danger was waiting for Julia? Who wanted to harm her?
