He assessed his almost healed body condition, the position of the guards and people within the wall, the distance between himself and the wall.
Paying attention to these details, he smiled as he heard his heart pump.
"In one swift movement."
From where he stood, he positioned himself, tensed his legs and looked forward.
The next moment, he was on the move.
And he moved pretty fast.
The grass field was an uneven land, but he had already decided on where he would place each step he took.
In a few seconds, he had already crossed the grass field and reached the wall that towered 20 meters.
Believing this abnormally strong body could do it, he crouched as he tensed his leg muscles slightly then jumped.
The moment he took to the air, he thought, 'I can make it!'
…But he didn't.
Not being able to reach the top of the wall, gravity did its thing, allowing him to freefall.
But his determination was solid.
He wasn't going to spend his night outside this town wall.
His body moved on its own with his arms trying to look for a part of the wall to hold and stop his fall.
In the midst of this attempt, he stabbed his delicate looking fingers into the wall before he could fall completely.
Unfortunately the wall was even sturdier than he assumed and he couldn't fix his fingers into it properly.
He was glad he still got this opportunity though.
Without much thinking, he gritted his teeth as he shot himself up the remaining length of the wall.
Now above the wall, in mid-air, he saw the top of the walls that were armed with various standing spikes that seemed to hold supernatural effects.
There were some spots that lacked the spikes, but those places were where the patrolling guards lingered longer – on some of the spots, there were even guards that watched the walls.
Before he proceeded his attempt over the wall, his senses already picked up the effects of the spikes and he already put it to consideration when he formed a plan – he was ready for it.
With his feet moderately small, he risked landing near the spikes that were weak.
Like a dancer, he rose one foot up as high as possible, then landed on his toe with the other.
Instantly, he leaped again and landed in an alley within the confines of the walls.
After instantly looking around, he found some barrels he hid behind.
Within 2 minutes, he successfully infiltrated the city.
Under the darkness of the alley, he sighed with relief as he stretched his body and rested his back on a wall.
"Ah… that was tense… I'm tired…"
He wanted to sleep and let off steam a bit, but he wanted to get things done first.
Looking at his slightly bruised finger tips, he said with a weak smile.
"Well… I have to admit, this body is actually pretty strong. And it's only a body that's 14 years! I wonder how it'll be when it actually grows."
When he inhabited the body, he was naturally aware of the age of the body.
Sighing once more, he stood up and decided on what to do next.
He wanted to do something about this white shirt that was painted with blood and dirt, and also wash away his skin.
In the worst scenario he was found, it's best if he just looked like a homeless child that was abandoned recently compared to whatever one would think of if they saw his current state.
Based on his guess, it was close to 10pm and at this side of this town, there were very less people compared to other parts of this town.
He could tell based on the scarce lights alone.
There weren't many street lights turned on here, most of the light one could see on this street coming from within various houses.
For this reason, he was able to walk on the streets without needing much cover. He just needed to hide his small body when he drew closer to people's view.
He wandered around for a few minutes, picked up a piece of thrown cloth while he did, and then found a well.
It was placed in an open spot amongst some houses. He waited for when there was barely anyone around before he went to fetch.
Using a bucket he saw nearby, he carried the water he fetched to a dark corner between houses and sat there.
All this was done as quietly as possible.
Taking off his clothes, he muttered.
"As time goes by, I can't help but wonder if that so-called God was actually being serious about making things easy! What happened to me possessing the body of someone in a better condition? Tsk."
After removing his cloth, he noticed the light on his arms had gone and so had his scars and injuries. His arms looked good as new.
It was the same situation for his other body parts too.
The only injuries he still had was the previously deep one at his side, and the recently injured finger tips that didn't have the white light.
"I'm guessing those white lights were a perk of the rebirth process," he said as he set his cloth aside.
Next, he washed his body with water before washing the piece of red cloth he picked up, then the white cloth he took off.
After hanging the wet clothes on somewhere he found suitable, he let the water drip off the clothes as he paid attention to the illusory screen that was still present.
The illusory screen was what he believed was the blessing God gave him.
Name: –
Core Stage: Level Three [17%]
Rune Gift: - Judge of Lost Souls
⤷ Gift Skills: [I See You]
Inherent Skills: –
Secondary Skills: [Echo of God], [Mana Sense]
Looking at the name, he was slightly amused, "I have no name… Because I'm re-starting life and I'm yet to be named? I guess that should be right? I should come up with a name…"
He was interested in the next because he identified them as skills. This was going to influence his way forward.
When putting his abilities to consideration, his plans were going to change. An example was his ability to sense energies which helped him avoid people while entering the town.
"A Rune Gift…" He muttered as memories of going through the plane of stars crossed his mind.
He could recall when the stone had entered him and made him complete. He knew this was the strongest thing he had in his arsenal.
But he was disappointed to see the explanation of his Gift.
[Judge of Lost Souls: You have control over the souls you've deemed Lost.]
After palming his face, he laughed bitterly. "How do I even deem a soul Lost? Tell me that, not this vague stuff!"
He wanted to complain further, but he reserved his comments regarding the Gift until he tested it out.
Next was his skill that was born from his Gift.
[I See You: You can see Soul Bodies. The level at which you can see depends on you.]
"Hmmm…" A thought popped up in his mind. "All those blue beings I saw, are they because of this thing?"
He was certain the answer was yes.
"I really need to test this and the Gift. I'm sure it's not a normal ability. The faster I do that, the earlier I can get stronger."
In that instant, he tried to come up with some scenarios where he could test these abilities.
It all came down to the forest.
"I'm only going back there when I'm prepared… Now, the rest of my skills…"
[Echo of God(Dormant): A dormant ability within you. This imprint gives you a false identity.]
[Mana Sense: Increases how you perceive mana.]
"How wonderful…" He said. " The hell is the Echo of God! Its description doesn't even make sense! Tsk tsk. At this moment, only Mana Sense seems useful…"
Willing the screens to disappear, he muttered, "Y'know what? Let's forget this! I have something else I wanna try out."
This was related to his skill Mana Sense and the energy that he identified to be mana.
Every being he has sensed had a concentration of energy within them, and so did he – all in varying sizes. Basically, they all had a core.
He was familiar with this concept because in his previous world, there were people who have utilized a core to wield supernatural abilities. There was a time in his previous world's history where there were monsters everywhere.
Even before he died, there were few people who still had a core, but they were unable to utilize it due to how the atmosphere gradually lost more mana energy.
Since he couldn't rely much on his skills for now, his best bet was to learn how to utilize his core.
He sat cross-legged in the corner he was, closed his eyes and entered a meditative state.
This was an attempt to heighten his concentration on his mana sense.
The energy in the atmosphere slowly became more evident to him.
Most of the mana in the air had a whitish color and the rest of the mana were either red, blue, green or brown.
Some of the atmosphere's mana with white and blue color slowly formed a trail that entered into his body.
He shifted his concentration to his body.
