Chereads / Black Clover: Nah I'd Lose (UPDATED) / Chapter 28 - 28. Falling into Water

Chapter 28 - 28. Falling into Water

(Guys, this week's goal is 800 Powerstones, let's kill it 🔫.

Whether this fic would continue or not would depend on the support I would get.)

Currently, Mimosa and Akeru were standing on the railing of the terrace, with the latter sitting on the railing with his legs dangling.

Akeru was trying to find the eagle constellation Mimosa was talking about.

'It seems that the symbols of three royal houses were based on constellations,' Akeru deduced while trying to make sense of the eagle pattern in the area where Mimosa was pointing.

"Have you heard about the famous spy who infiltrated our kingdom more than a year ago?"

On hearing this, Akeru was startled and fell off the railing.

He was currently processing Mimosa's words.

He only noticed that he had fallen when he felt the water touching his skin.

"Wh-" He immediately closed his mouth as water went into his mouth and nose.

He also didn't like water getting in his eyes.

'Hmm?' Akeru squinted his eyes as he noticed a big red line aimed at him.

He noticed a shark coming at him at blinding speeds.

'A mana beast?' Akeru thought while looking at the shark and found multiple blue lines aimed at it.

He had multiple ways to attack that thing.

Akeru's eyes widened as he felt several red lines aimed at him from several directions.

'1, 2... 7 sharks, now that's gonna be interesting.' Despite not being able to see clearly in the water, with the help of his other senses, he was able to sense the Ki of these beasts.

'Oscillatory Dysfunction'

The water around his fingers took the form of a claw and started vibrating very quickly.

The first shark was already upon him and tried to bite his head.

However, before it could, Akeru swiped one of his hands and the shark was cut into two pieces.

Another shark came from behind him with the intention to bite his legs.

'Hmm, my movement in the water is kind of slow,' Akeru thought.

The shark bit on the human's lower part, but to its bestial brain's shock, its teeth weren't able to penetrate into the human's flesh.

'Seraph's Shell' This was the name of the technique Akeru had recently decided on for his mana barrier technique, which took countless trials and errors to form over a span of 6 months previously.

Akeru had instinctively put on mana skin when he touched the water, but it was kind of late compared to water getting into his eyes and nose.

In the next instant, the shark biting on his lower part felt blood inside its mouth.

However, it was not human's but its own.

Before it could pull back, its head got detached.

The other sharks quickly decided to retreat after seeing two members of their pack killed quite quickly.

Akeru hesitated about whether to kill them or not.

'Ahh, leave it, they are just dumb beasts,' Akeru decided to leave them be.

The water around him was bloodied, but due to the mana between the water and his clothes and body, he wasn't affected.

He quickly jumped out of the water and flew directly to the top while using mana on his shoes.

'I should soon be able to infuse mana at the sole of my feet directly without needing the shoes as an intermediary,' Akeru thought while noticing the cherry blossoms lying around the deck.

'Right, his mana field has been active since we entered the ship, so he must be ready to take action at a moment's notice. Hmm, there's another field active, this should be Mimosa's,' Akeru landed back on the railing.

"Akeru! Are you fine? How did you fall?" Mimosa quickly asked him a barrage of questions while inspecting him.

She got really worried when she saw blood in the water but didn't take action herself because her brother was ready to take action at a moment's notice and she was able to sense his condition with her mana field.

"Yeah, I am fine. I just tumbled off while thinking about something," Akeru reassured her and even showed her that no part of his body was harmed.

"Oh, that's a relief. I do have a handkerchief, but I don't think it would be enough to take care of your soaked form."

"It's fine. Time to use all my rune training," Akeru said while focusing on creating a rune to absorb water from his clothes.

"What were you saying about a famous spy? I have never heard about it," Akeru asked in an 'honest' tone.

"Well, rumors are that he somehow was able to infiltrate our country and started stealing money from the government. Soon a magic knight tried to stop him, but he was defeated fairly easily."

"He then disappeared for the next 2 months and then took out some members of Silver Eagles even without the latter knowing."

"Damn, that guy must have some good stealth skills," Akeru commented while his rune was ready, which started to absorb water from his wet clothes.

"Yeah, I know. Next up he fought with an intermediate magic knight of Green Mantises. The knight was able to overpower him initially, but to his shock, he found out that the spy was only testing him and took him out in a few moves without getting hit once like he was reading him like a book. It was pretty demoralizing for the knight," Mimosa shook her head like she was the one who faced the spy.

"And do you know what's the shocking thing?" She suddenly asked while leaning forward.

"What?"

"He didn't even use his grimoire once during any of the encounters, seemingly afraid of revealing his country's identity."

"Damn, that must be some high-level spy." 'Fuck, this is so bizarre to hear from somebody else. How did she get such detailed information? Is this because she is a royal?'

"I know right? Later it was mentioned that the spy was detained and taken care of, but nobody mentioned how," Mimosa shook her head.

"There's definitely a conspiracy in play. Maybe they didn't find the spy later, or somehow figured out that he left and to cover that up, they did this," Akeru said with a serious face.

"It seems plausible," Mimosa nodded.

Akeru's clothes were dry now.

"Anyway, how do you find living in our estate? It's been more than a month since you've settled in?" Mimosa changed the topic.

"It's really nice, especially the food. I would say that's the best thing compared to previously," Akeru said excitedly while mentioning all types of food he had eaten and going into detailed descriptions of each of them.

Mimosa occasionally gave her own opinion about some food, and there was even an argument on some points.

"Oh, look at the time. I need to go now and do the last training round before sleeping. I will see you tomorrow, Mimosa," Akeru decided to end the session as he felt that his mana was enough for an intense round of drawing magic circles.

"Yeah, it was really fun to talk with you. See you tomorrow." With that, they parted ways.

Akeru got to his room and lay down on the bed while getting into flow soon and creating many magic circles continuously.

---

"We should be reaching the Heart Kingdom in less than an hour, right?" Akeru looked at Mimosa who was standing in the shade.

"Yeah, I am excited."

"Me too," Akeru said while looking at the sea.

He had brief contact with the other five and didn't talk much with them.

He had only talked with Mimosa mostly during the trip.

That was also during his breaks when he was training on increasing his speed of rune casting.

He had decided to not train near the time of arrival in case he needed to fight or something.

An hour passed, and suddenly they felt a mist covering the ship.

Akeru tensed as he felt that he wasn't able to sense any mana.

"This fog is messing with our sensory field," Mimosa said out loud.

Akeru stretched out all his senses and tried to sense the Ki around.

Though not perfect, it was still working.

'Ki sensing is really overpowered. I really need to work on this more and develop its applications outside battle, as this kind of sensing is more on my instinct unlike how I see red and blue lines during battle,' Akeru thought while looking around.

He couldn't see anything even while enhancing his eyes with mana.

'I really need to thank Captain Yami properly for helping me refine this,' Akeru made a mental note about doing this in the future.

The fog soon disappeared, and they saw a very awe-inspiring scene.

'We were probably made to go through different directions in the stream before coming here,' Akeru made a logical deduction while looking at the beautiful scene.

"Welcome to the Heart Kingdom," Akeru heard from behind him.
