Chapter 3 - Chapter Three

The next morning, Su Bai couldn't help but rub her brow, feeling like she had slept very deeply. After taking a shower the previous night, she seemed to have fallen into a daze, and now she couldn't remember what happened afterward at all.

She got up, grabbed a cup of warm water, and as usual, reached for the vitamin bottle on her bedside table. However, as soon as she picked it up, it felt unusually light, and her heart skipped a beat.

Sure enough, she checked the other bottle, and it felt the same. At that moment, she furrowed her brows in anger. The medicine had definitely been "disposed of" by someone again. She didn't know how many times this had happened.

Although she had known for years that her mental state was unstable, for a long time, her second personality (the "inner self") had not interfered with her normal life. However, in the past two years, the inner self seemed to be appearing more frequently. She had even wondered if it had something to do with her relationship with Fang Cheng.

The first time her second personality appeared was during the early days of her college entrance exam preparation, about ten years ago. She noticed a few extra lines of writing in her diary—writing that was undoubtedly her own handwriting. There was no way to mistake it. But it was only a suspicion at that time. It wasn't until three months later that she confirmed it for real. One morning, she woke up and found that her wardrobe had been completely rummaged through. All the clothes she normally liked were thrown outside, and only one or two casual dresses were left behind. The most absurd thing was that her second personality had written in the diary again, clearly marking its existence. That was the first time Su Bai fully realized that there might be another person living inside her.

Over the years, the inner personality's appearances were rare—just a few times. But since she started dating Fang Cheng, it seemed to have become more active, even appearing about once a month. Moreover, the duration of its appearances had been getting longer. Su Bai had no memory of these times. Thankfully, nothing extreme had happened, and Su Bai wasn't actively trying to "eliminate" this second personality. Sometimes, she even thought that this other self might someday help her do things she wouldn't normally try.

So, with Li Feng, her therapist, she had been using medication to suppress the frequency of her inner personality's appearances but had never opted for a complete cure.

Since Su Xiao Bai had deliberately discarded the medicine, Su Bai felt helpless. She had been going to Li Feng's office more frequently to get new prescriptions. If this continued, Li Feng would start to get suspicious. All Su Bai could do was sigh and hope that her other self wouldn't cause any more trouble.

After washing up, Su Bai put on a light blue suit dress, looking elegant and intelligent. Her hair was loosely tied up, exposing her smooth white neck. She wore a pair of 6-7 cm high-heeled shoes and went downstairs. Su Bai's usual style was that of an urban office lady—not unattractive, but perhaps too conventional and lacking the allure that might catch a man's eye.

After having breakfast with her father, Su Bai drove to work, borrowing her younger brother Su Miao's car—an all-white Porsche sports car.

Although Su Miao worked at a company on the surface, privately, he had partnered with others to start a real estate business, which had grown quite large. Su Miao was well-connected, smooth-talking, and had a diverse circle of friends, ranging from all types of people. His favorite hobby was collecting luxury cars, and he often drove them just for fun. This passion, of course, was very expensive.

In Su Bai's family garage, there were four or five sports cars, all belonging to Su Miao. Although their father, the old master, often scolded him for his "decadent" interests, he had no way of stopping him. After all, Su Miao earned his money legally.

Su Bai hadn't planned to borrow her brother's car today. But since she had slept so deeply and woke up late, she wouldn't have made it to work on time if she didn't drive. So, she reluctantly borrowed his car for the day.

The building near Su Bai's workplace was the Imperial Tower, one of the iconic structures in the business district. Su Bai wasn't foolish enough to park such an expensive car at the office; she didn't want to draw any unnecessary attention. She preferred to keep a low profile, so she parked her car in the underground parking lot of the Imperial Tower instead.

When it was time to finish work, Su Bai walked for about ten minutes to the building. Just as she arrived at the parking garage, she pulled out her keys and was about to get her car when, out of the corner of her eye, she saw a brand-new black Audi sharply scrape past her white Porsche. The driver of the Audi didn't bother parking; instead, the car accelerated as if the driver couldn't wait to get away. After a sharp screeching sound, Su Bai's eardrums rang, and a headache surged. She instinctively pressed her finger to her temple, and when she looked up again, her expression had turned into a fierce scowl directed at the black Audi.

That's right. At this moment, Su Bai's "inner persona," Su Xiaobai, had taken over her mental space. The usually calm Su Bai was now replaced by her angry alter ego. Su Xiaobai's face, previously flushed with rage, now turned astonished when she caught sight of the people in the Audi.

When the Audi passed by, she instinctively shrank back a few steps, hiding behind a nearby car, watching as the black Audi slowly drove out of the parking lot.

It wasn't just any random car. It was Fang Cheng's car. That wasn't unusual, but the person sitting in the front passenger seat was unmistakably the woman from the incident yesterday—the one who had caused the little accident.

Looking at the way Fang Cheng drove, it seemed as if he wanted to leave the place as quickly as possible. His side profile was cold and severe, and the woman beside him looked frightened and tense. God knows what had happened between the two of them.

Su Bai needed some time to process the situation and figure out the connections between these people. She couldn't jump to conclusions based on just a few moments. But Fang Cheng, as expected, didn't seem as simple as he appeared. At the very least, he was hiding something from Su Bai. Whether it was related to betrayal, Su Xiaobai would need more evidence to prove it. Until then, she couldn't make any rash conclusions.

She walked quickly up to the white Porsche and found that it had indeed been scratched badly. She wasn't planning on confronting Fang Cheng about it just yet. What she could do now was wait and observe. She would eventually catch Fang Cheng, the big bad wolf, slipping up. As for the car repairs, she wasn't worried—after all, Su Miao had plenty of money. He probably wouldn't care about one or two cars getting scratched.

She took out her phone and quickly dialed a number. It rang for a while before it was answered. It wasn't a clear voice at first, but a noisy background of music, followed by the sound of a young man's voice.

"Hey, sis, what's up?"

Su Xiaobai raised an eyebrow, instantly recognizing that her brother was either at a club or a bar.

"Su Miao, where are you?" she sighed, asking slowly.

"I'm with some friends. What's up, sis? Is everything okay? Why are you calling me?"

After a moment, it sounded like Su Miao had moved to a quieter place. His voice was much clearer now, and the music in the background had dimmed. He sounded cheerful, even teasing his older sister.

"My car had a little accident yesterday. This morning I drove your white Porsche to work. It's parked at the Imperial Tower right now, but… when I drove out, I scratched it. Could you get someone to drive it away for me later?"

"Accident? What kind of accident? Why didn't you tell me about it yesterday? Are you alright?" Su Miao's voice immediately became concerned, and he hurriedly asked.

"I'm fine. But your car… well, just get someone to take it away for me. I'm not driving it back now."

"Do you want me to come over?" Su Miao still sounded worried.

Su Xiaobai glanced at the watch on her wrist and remembered that she had made an appointment with Fang Cheng yesterday. Regardless of whether the person she had just seen was Fang Cheng or not, time was running out, and she couldn't afford to waste more time on this matter. She quickly said, "Ah, forget it. You go ahead and enjoy yourself. Just remember to send someone to pick up the car."

She didn't want to dwell on it, becoming slightly anxious. Her tone, different from her usual self, caught Su Miao's attention, but he was so focused on his concern for his sister that he didn't find anything odd about her behavior.

After the call ended, Su Miao returned to his original VIP room. Su Xiaobai figured he was likely still hanging out with his rich and spoiled friends at the club.

Inside, they were drinking and having a good time. When Su Miao walked in, one of the young men, Qin Ming, grinned and asked, "Who's that? Why's the Young Master so eager to rush out just now?"

"Enough, Qin Ming. Look at him. Eight times out of ten, it's his sister. Most people are mama's boys, but this one's a sister's boy," another young man teased.

Su Miao took the cigarette Qin Ming handed him, giving the man a sideways glance. With a cold smirk, he replied, "So what if I'm a sister's boy? I think no woman in the world is better than my sister."

"Tch, hopeless. You're not getting jealous of your brother-in-law, are you?" Since they were all tight-knit brothers, there was no topic too off-limits. They weren't completely aware of the Su family's situation, but they knew the gist of things. Su Miao's sister had a good boyfriend, and more importantly, Su Bai's beauty was famous in their circle for being rare. They also knew that Fang Cheng, while not part of their circle, was not an unknown name either. After all, he came from a powerful background.

"Fang Cheng? Does he even deserve my sister? The only reason she's with him is because she willingly follows him," Su Miao took a drag from the cigarette, his voice filled with frustration.

"Hey, I've heard some rumors. People say Fang Cheng's been getting into trouble recently, and it seems to be related to a woman. I can't say for sure, but there's always smoke where there's fire. I think that guy's got something to hide. Maybe you should have your sister keep an eye on him," Qin Ming said knowingly.

"Is this for real?" Su Miao frowned, his expression resembling Su Bai's, but with a hint of curiosity in his voice.

Qin Ming shrugged, half-smiling. "Can't say for sure, but I think it's worth checking out."

Su Miao nodded, not pursuing the topic further.

On Su Xiaobai's side, after hanging up with Su Miao, she received a call from Fang Cheng, saying he would be at her office's gate in half an hour.

Earlier, she hadn't mentioned a word about the situation at the Imperial Tower to Fang Cheng. After walking back to the office, within less than half an hour, she saw the same black Audi from earlier approaching.

"Damn, I was right. That person really is Fang Cheng. Looks like my eyesight's still pretty good," she muttered to herself, but when Fang Cheng stepped out of the car, her expression shifted.

Since Fang Cheng was hiding something from Su Bai, well, Su Xiaobai was more than willing to find out just how many secrets Fang Cheng had up his sleeve. She had no intention of holding back—she was ready to go toe-to-toe with him.
