Behind him, Nancy laughed grimly, with a sharp and mocking indication. "Haa haa, finally! I've killed you and your mother! Alex Agniverta, die with her… haa haa!"
Alex staggered, grabbed the spear which lodged deep in his chest, piercing through to his mother's heart. His hands trembled as he pulled it, blood spurting from the gaping wound. He barely noticed the pain—what he felt was far worse. A vast emptiness, hollow consuming him.
He turned around locking his eye with Arnik "Oye, Arnik!" he called, his voice desperate, raw. "You can make a potion to heal the heart, right? You can!"
Arnik stared at the scene, frozen in horror, his gaze changing from Alex to Nancy. He said in a quivered tone. "Nancy… what have you done?!"
Alex stumbled forward, each step heavy with agony, yet his movements were careful. He gently laid his mother's bloodied body on the ground as though she could still feel pain. "Wait, Mother… just wait a little longer. I'll get the potion for you… just hold on…"
Tears of blood streamed down from his eyes as he turned back to Arnik. "For whoever you worship, your lord's sake," Alex pleaded, his voice helpless. Arnik, you can make it, right?"
Arnik shook his head, his words barely above a whisper. "I… I can't, Agniverta. Please… have mercy on us."
"Mercy?" Alex repeated, his face distorted with anguish and fury. "You dare ask me for mercy? You can't even make the potion! Your daughter…" He stepped closer to Arnik, his tone venomous. "She attacked me from behind, didn't she? That daughter of yours…" He let out a bitter and broken laugh, "Do you know why I didn't kill you in the first place? Because of my mother! She made me think… made me believe that maybe… maybe I could change. But she lied. She's a liar!"
Alex crawled like a madman towards his mother, He fell to his knees beside her, his voice fearful as he spoke, half to himself and half to the lifeless woman before him. "Mother… you see? They don't have the potion. They don't… they can't save you."
His hands cupped her face, his tears mingling with the blood staining her cheeks. "Mother, talk to me… you can't die, right? You can't! I haven't even told you…"
Her voice was faint, her breathing shallow, but it carried a warmth that bored through his despair. "You don't need to, my son. I already know… I know you're not my Alex, from the start. But you're still my son, aren't you? You called me 'Mother,' and you're still calling me that…"
Alex's eyes widened, blood and tears streaking down his face. His grip tightened around her hand as he shook his head violently. "No… no, you can't die. You can't! I've never had a mother before, and now… now I finally have you! Arnik, do you see this? She called me her son! She called me her son, so she can't die. She can't…"
His words dissolved into frantic, incoherent mutterings as he broke down completely. His voice grew softer, more childlike as if clinging to a fragile hope. "Mother… my name… do you know? They called me Demon Feng Cheon… Mother…"
Her trembling lips curled into a faint, loving smile. "You're not a demon, my son…" Her voice faded with her final breath. "Feng Cheon… is a beautiful name…"
Her hand fell limp, and her eyes closed forever.
Alex wavered, staring at her lifeless body, disbelief etched into his bloodied face. "Mother…? Mother…" His voice cracked, trembling. "You're pranking me, right? You can't … you can't leave me like this… Mother…"
But no answer came. Only the cold silence of death.
Something inside him shattered. Slowly, he rose to his feet, his movements heavy-footed. Without sparing Arnik and Nancy another glance, Alex raised his hand. In an instant, their heads were rolled to the ground, blood pooling around their lifeless bodies.
Turning back to his mother, Alex knelt, his voice soft and shaking like a leaf as he whispered, "Mother, don't worry. We're going to the palace. There, we'll get the potion. I'll save you… I'll save you."
Alex trudged through the wilderness Barefoot and drenched in blood, carrying his mother's lifeless body in his arms. For two days, he walked without rest, his dishevelled hair clinging to his bloodied face, his hollow eyes staring ahead. Without noticing anything in his way.
Finally, the gates of the royal palace loomed before him. With a strength fueled by sorrow and rage, he pushed the doors open, his bare footsteps echoing in the grand hall.
Standing in the centre of the royal hall, Alex's voice barrage like a storm, shaking the very walls.
"Leon Agniverta!" he roared, his voice filled with fury and despair. "Heal my mother, or I will destroy everything you hold dear your kingdom this whole world will know what agony feels like!"
The royal hall was similarly silent like the academy, its vastness magnified by the absence of life except for ten figures—the elite force of the Leventha Kingdom—and Leon seated upon his golden throne.
The grandknights exchanged confused glances. They had no idea who this bloodied figure was or what had happened.
One by one, they raised their swords, their gleaming blades moving slightly as they pointed them toward Alex. The ten swords formed a deadly ring around his neck.
Yet Alex didn't flinch.
His voice echoed through the hall once more, "Leon Agniverta…" His eyes burned with a murderous glow as he lifted his gaze to Leon. "Heal my mother… or I will slaughter you all."
GrandKnights's instincts screamed at them to kneel, to lower their heads, but they fought against the suffocating force, with their auras.
The king halted in place, his regal composure as he looked upon Alex. His steps were slow, hesitant, as he descended from his throne. The sight of his son, drenched in blood and clutching the lifeless body of his wife, sent a chill through his very soul.
"Alex…" he whispered, his voice trembling. He took another step closer, his eyes wide with a mix of disbelief. He didn't need to ask what had happened—he could see it etched into Alex's hollow eyes and the lifeless form in his arms. Something unspeakably terrible had occurred.
"Alex," the king said again, his voice firmer this time, though the dejection was unmistakable. "What… what have you done?"
You're asking me what I've done?" Alex's voice pitched high as he glared at the king. His bloodshot eyes burned with a hatred that cut deeper than any blade. "Leon Agniverta, you dare to ask me that?"
He took a step forward, his grip tightening around his mother's lifeless body.
"You killed her!" his voice full of rage. "You! The great king who couldn't even protect his own family. You didn't even bother to give our mansion proper security. You left her defenceless! And now, she's dead… because of you."
Alex's breathing grew ragged as he seethed, his grief pouring out in every word. "You killed her, Leon Agniverta. You might as well have driven the spear through her heart yourself!"
Leon stood shattered, unable to speak or even defend himself. Words failed him as he stared at the devastating scene before him—his wife's lifeless body in his son's shuddering arms. His heart shattered into pieces. The weight of guilt, sorrow, and helplessness bore down on him, suffocating him.
His momentary rage flared, and with a single gesture, he signalled the knights to lower their swords. Reluctantly, the blades pulled back, but their tension remained palpable in the air.
Leon stepped closer, his hand reaching out toward his wife and son. "Alex…" he murmured, his voice, thick with grief.
But Alex took a step back, his eyes filled with fury and anguish. "Don't. You have no right, Leon."
Leon stiffened in place as Alex's voice cracked, his pain filling the room like a jar of booze.
"You don't deserve to touch her… or to call me your son. You lost that right the moment you let this happen!" Alex's voice grew quieter, but his words were, dripping with toxin. "I have died twice in my life… and now, I've died again."
Ronika and Lars, who had been in the second building, sprinted toward the royal hall the moment they heard the raised voices echoing through the palace. Their hearts pounded with a mix of urgency and fear, the ominous tone in Alex's voice chilling them to the core.
As they burst into the hall, the scene before them stopped them dead in their tracks. Ronika's eyes widened in horror, her breath catching in her throat. Lars preserved beside her, his face pale as he took in the sight of Alex—bloodied, dishevelled, and clutching his mother's lifeless body.
Brother… what's going on?" Ronika whispered, her voice wavering.
Her gaze darted to his father, who stood motionless, guilt and a void of pain etched into his face, and to the knights, whose lowered swords surrounded Alex in a tense, suffocating circle. The atmosphere in the hall was heavy with grief, rage, and unspoken words.
Alex didn't say another word about his mother. He lowered his gaze, his voice cold and devoid of any warmth. "I'm leaving you… and this kingdom. You're free, Leon—only because of her. But don't ever try to find me again."
He turned his back on the king, his steps heavy yet resolute. "Prepare yourself, Leon," Alex continued, his voice steady through the hall. "Prepare your knights. In eight years, they'll come—the ones you hid from me." His tone grew sharper, laced with finality. "I won't protect you or anyone else. So, prepare… and don't even think about following me."
With that, Alex began to walk away, his figure disappearing into the shadows of the corridors of the hall.
"Brother!" Ronika's desperate cry rang out as she ran after him, her eyes filled with tears. "Brother, where are you going? What happened? Please, talk to me!"
Lars, too, called out, his voice tinged with worry. "Alex, wait! What do you mean? What's going on?"
But before they could reach him, the king raised his hand, his voice heavy with pain. "Leave him be," Leon said, his words breaking as he struggled to hold himself together. "Let him go…"
Ronika, her tears streaming down her face as Alex vanished without a word, leaving behind only sadness and silence.
!!Once again, the path of the demon wound its way forward to the same beginning!!
