Chapter 1 - Forging The Prideful Weapon

The storming sound of bolts clashing from the underground level of the two floors and wide house rested on the edge right of the town. The spacious house itself maintained the shape of a bulky navy-blue trapezoid for its front side, a couple of triangular windows that shone bright blue lights, a gleaming red maroon rooftop, and lastly an emerald holographic door stood on the front and the backyard.

The noise went louder each every second, striking the two people who tried to have a good slumber in the bedroom on the second floor. A floated blue holographic projection of the balmy bed appeared inside the bedroom. It carried a married couple in their fifties, a short curly who centered their gaze at the holographic door on the left.

A muscular man with long grey hair and wearing maroon pajamas, painted his face with a shaking worriedness. The short grey-haired woman who covered herself with pink pajamas rolled her eyes in bothersome. In the past two weeks, her ears had been pierced by the exuding bolt noises that recently she could only cross her arms.

"Almost every night, our beloved son, Gdark decided to conduct his bizarre experiment again," The woman sneered. "No wonder I always felt sleepy in my office for the last three days."

"Marla, easy he just wanted to complete the project for his great debut," The man assured. "He didn't mean to disturb us."

"Still annoying that he did this continuously," Marla grumbled. "Is this a reason he came back to us again after disappearing for 10 years? Finishing his project so he can become a better Superhero than you, Cantos?"

"I guess I'm right after all, he never had any desire to live like a normal civilian or a man," Marla added, whistling as she darted her sight on the bed.

"It's his choice, Marla.," Cantos explained. "Hear me out, he decided to disappear for 10 years to learn every knowledge of being an effective Superhero."

"He never enjoyed living as a normal man in the first place. I couldn't force him," Cantos professed, bowing his head and biting his concerned jaw. "At first, I thought he wanted to become a Superhero because of me.

"Sadly that's not the case," Cantos added.

Cantos groaned, "I should checked on him right now."

"Stay here Marla," Cantos suggested, getting up for the bed and grabbing the white staff beside him that aided him to stand. "Let's wish this is the last day of his experiment."

A laboratory within the underground level of the house became an originating place of the sound of thundering clashes and a high-pitched contorted growl of the mean echoing. Magenta-brimming light unfolded the entire inside, complete with the collection of various objects displayed on almost every side.

On the left side of the room, four tiles of bright blue rectangular boards hovered from low to up carried objects such as long-range and melee weapons from the first two rows above. The lower rows of the titles presented metal helmets with the majority gleaming colorful flashes on the eyes.

One of the helmets on the collection from the lower half was picked by a well-built man who continued to shriek, equipping it to his head. More specifically, a grey steel helmet with a polished-white facial part that planted magenta diamond surface goggles for the man's choice. Twin finger sizes, scarlet swords strapped on each the helmet's ears, resembling the tiny wings.

The chosen helmet was indeed matched with his suit with the earl-grey dominant color on armor parts that shielded every front side of the polished white suit. The armor part on his chest bestowed the two metallic letters logos: acuted V and C. Sparkling Magenta became the central spotlight for the solid logo's colors, shining like a star on the night.

Curvy surface grey armor latched on both the upper part of his arms, gushing more sparkling magenta winds as the man extended his arms. Maroon-red, rough surfaces gloves bestrewed the large flock of magenta particles being sent to the enlightening red containment on the front left.

A containment with a bright azure holographic projection showing the word, "Ace Duelist" continuously vacuumed incoming every particle. Dazzling green lights shone through every gaping line of the containment, but the bolting red lightning bolts struck toward the armored man. It forced him to screech as he was being electrocuted, bending his staggering knees.

"My great backpack, allow me to bond and share your great power with me," The Armored man convinced himself, getting up his vibrating legs. "Tomorrow will be my great debut day."

Gdark gazed down and uttered, "I Gdark, is confident this spell will work splendidly!!"

Without hesitation, Gdark clapped his hand and transmitted the surging magenta lights from his wrists, spreading into the seething swarm embedding in his entire armored body. The swarming lights shackled the bolts and forcibly dragged into The Armored Man, aiding him to regain a steady standing position.

Gdark unbendingly shrieked as he plunged his crossing hands downward, stepping closer toward the left containment. The metal boots illuminated the magenta gleams the longer The Armored Man walked toward the containment. A joyful laughter burs tout from Gdark as he rotated his sight at the resiting bolts dispersing and absorbing into his armor, paying off the countless efforts of his experiment.

"Ah yes, yes, the result I've been waiting!!" Gdark shouted with an enthralled smirk, squeezing his hands in excitement. "Satisfying payoff after countless attempts."

"Now, let's commence the finishing phase!" Gdark added, raising his fingers toward the containment.

The Armored Man exhaled a huge chunk of air and chanted firmly, "Lend me your power, Ace Duelist!!!"

A projection of the lever materialized on the front gate of the containment and elastically broadened itself like a rubber object. Then, Gdark swiftly caught the lever with his enlightening grip. He transferred all the light from his body toward the lever, especially with him tightening his grip.

A perfect momentum was executed as The Armored Man roared his asserted grunt and dragged the lever downward. The lever combusted into the radiating yellow wave that slowly bounced away Gdark, splitting into a hundred maroon orbs flew simultaneously toward the containment. Blinding white light illuminated Gdark's eyes, ordering his hand to block his sight before it vanished immediately into thin air. Realizing the flash disappearing from the room, Gdark rested his arms and gasped in fascination at the crystal clear result on the front.

The left containment glaringly popped out of the holographic letters spelled, "Ace Duelist is ready to be used", brimming the jubilation within Gdark's pounding heart. The Armored Man confidently presented his arms upward and sounded the trumpeting cackle throughout the room, completing the long-term project for his debut. His shining debut as the next Superhero for Gloricon.

"Even though I wanted to use The Ace Duelist backpack right now, I prefer to use it later," Gdark uttered, retrieving his arms and switching his attention to the right.

"More specifically, I'm going to use it directly to some unlucky scum." The Armored Man proclaimed.

Gdark snapped his finger, evoking the raining magenta particles to gather on his right side. The particles fluently spawned the holographic table with the rectangular shape, leading to the spawn of four tiny wormholes on the top. Each wormhole spawned reflective blue projections, displaying several pictures related to familiar people in his life both group and a single picture of the chosen person.

From all four, Gdark picked the ones that displayed the picture of the long, pink twin tail-haired girl and pale-white skin girl who expressed an endearing smile. It lured The Armored Man to tap the left side of his helmet jaw. Magenta gleams shimmered through the helmet before it was reduced to nothingness.

It unfolded Gdark's facial appearance: the blonde young man with a long side part hairstyle and a single scar on the middle of his chin. He raised the picture of the girl closer, painting his entire face with a smile of cheerfulness. The longer he invested his time in glancing at the holographic picture, the wider his grin being followed with a blissful chortle.

"When I finally become the best one in the whole universe, I will claim you as the greatest prize, Prila," Gdark announced, placing down the picture and giving one last glance.

Gdark gently closed his eyes and uttered, "That's the promise I've been keeping since I left you ten years ago."

"The whole world going to see my spectacular debut, tomorrow," The Armored Man assured with a stern tone, rotating his glance to the containment on the left once again.

"Alongside this amazing backpack too," Gdark added, stretching his snarky grin.

The moment of cherishing Gdark's accomplishment didn't last long when he steered his sight to his next projects. Three separate projects hidden within different containments consisted of the amber containment beside the finished one, the forest-green containment in the middle, and the navy-blue containment on the right.

"There are still three backpacks left needed to be completed" Gdark mumbled with a little spark of dissatisfaction, "Sadly I couldn't finish it today."

"However, It will be finished in less than a week," The Armored Man added, forming a rigid glare toward the three containments.

Then, a fading hologram's noise echoed into Gdark's ears, indicating the midnight visitors had arrived. The Armored Man heaved his surprised eyebrows toward the visitor who was none other than his father, Cantos holding the staff to balance his standing position. A look of astonishment brimmed within his father's face when noticed the letters "Ace Duelist is ready to be used." The old man was stunned, noticing the completion of his son's project and dropping his quivering jaw.

"You awake again, father. Must be curious on seeing the finishing process," Gdark uttered pridefully.

"Luckily, I succeeded in one of them," Gdark proudly professed and sneaked at the other three containments. "Even though the other three are still in the process, I'm satisfied my favorite one is finished."

Cantos closed his jaw as he replied, "The only thing I could say is you are an amazing inventor."

"Well done, Gdark, well done," Cantos praised, raising his thumbs and opening his impressed grin. "I adore your spirit to become better."

"You might have super strength, flight, and super speed, but you knew those alone couldn't keep up with the villains here," Cantos remarked, locking a stoic furrow toward his son.

"My base power is weak and too basic in this world" Gdark asserted. "Building different kinds of backpacks is the next step for me to get closer to becoming the best."

"But are you also aware of the risk and responsibility you took when you entered the Superhero world?" Cantos provoked. "Are you also aware that superheroes couldn't always save anyone else?

"Those factors are a piece of cake," Gdark confirmed confidently.

"My debut is going to be proof I'm becoming better than you," The Armored Man added, elevating his knuckle and darting his sedated eyebrows toward his father.

Cantos chuckled, "Prideful as always, classic Gdark. Even before I lost my power you always like that."

"Seems your 10 years of learning couldn't put down your pride," Cantos teased, shaking his head.

Gdark cleared his throat and proclaimed, "Pride is what makes me alive and motivates me, former hero, Sirgion"

"I wish your effort could pay off your arrogance and pride, my son," Cantos argued, sighing and stepping forward.

"I'll make sure my 10 years of training is worth it," The Armored Man mentioned, pointing his thumb at himself, assuring his eagerness as the new Superhero to defend Gloricon.

"Good luck on your journey prideful Gdark," Cantos murmured, frowning in concern briefly and gesturing a salute hand on his forehand. "And hopefully you don't share the same fate as me."

Gdark chuckled, "It's an obvious answer, Sirgion, the former hero of Gloricon,"
