Chapter 28 - 28

Time seemed to stretch endlessly, each passing second dragging on painfully, never had it felt so unbearable.

With the last ounce of strength I could muster, I clung to consciousness, repeatedly urging myself not to succumb to sleep.

In the fleeting moments of clarity, I forced myself to comb through every detail I could recall, leaving no fragment of memory overlooked.

The moment my ex-husband had proposed divorce surfaced in an instant, his expression cold and distant, still stinging my heart with its sharpness.

Then, my thoughts drifted to that cramped, humble apartment, where I gently cradled my daughter in my arms. Her tiny form emanated a soft warmth, a bond between mother and child that had warmed countless cold nights.

I also remembered telling her fairy tales, the innocent smile that bloomed on her face, like the gentle rays of spring sunshine, dispelling the gloom of life. Those images were so vivid, as if they were right before my eyes.

My thoughts spun in endless circles, eventually settling on Xu Ze. He was the only glimmer of hope in my desperate plight.

At this moment, my heart clung to the hope that he would be the one to bring about a turn of fate.
