Chapter 3 - Chapter 2: First Experience in the Wilderness

Entering the wilderness for the first time

After leaving the city, the scene of the wilderness appeared in front of Nike and Ellie. This place is completely different from the prosperity of the city. What you can see is a vast expanse of wasteland. The withered grass, jagged rocks, and animal bones scattered on the ground silently tell the danger and desolation here.

The morning mist shrouded the earth, and a low roar was faintly heard in the distance, which made people shudder. Ellie tightly pulled the corner of Nike's clothes, with uneasiness in her eyes: "Brother, is there really a safe place here?"

Nike clenched the iron sword hanging on his waist, and his voice was calm and firm: "There is no safe place in the wilderness, but we will make this our territory."

Ellie did not ask anything else. She chose to believe Nike, just like when she was protected by him countless times when she was a child.

The first battle

The daytime in the wilderness is not quiet. The two walked along a dry river, and the air was filled with the smell of corruption. Suddenly, Nike stopped and he keenly noticed that there was something strange in front of him.

"Ellie, stand behind me." Nike whispered, slowly pulling out the iron sword, his blue eyes vigilantly scanning the surroundings.

"Rustle..." With the strange sound of the grass, a huge beast jumped out of the bushes in front. This is a level 3 bone-breaking beast, covered with brown scales, with strong and powerful limbs and fangs flashing cold light.

Ellie covered her mouth and trembled slightly: "Brother, what should we do?"

"Calm down." Nike protected her behind him and raised the sword in his hand slightly. His eyes were fixed on the bone-breaking beast, observing its movements.

The bone-breaking beast roared, arched its body and pounced on Nike. In an instant, Nike's body turned into a blurred black shadow, and he quickly dodged it with the "dark step" skill. He counterattacked from the side, and the iron sword slashed at the neck of the bone-breaking beast, but the hard scales made the blade slide away, leaving only a shallow scratch.

The bone-breaking beast roared angrily, and its tail swept over like a whip. Nike jumped up to dodge, and after landing, he quickly stepped back a few steps. Dark energy began to gather in his palm, gradually condensing into a black shadow blade.

"Try this." Nike whispered, and with a flick of his wrist, the shadow blade quickly pierced the eye of the bone-breaking beast.

The shadow blade hit accurately, and the bone-breaking beast screamed and rolled wildly on the ground. Nike seized the opportunity, jumped onto its back, held the sword with both hands, and stabbed it in the back of the head. Blood gushed out, and the bone-breaking beast's movements gradually stiffened, and finally fell to the ground.

Nike stood beside the body of the bone-breaking beast, slowly put away the sword, turned his head and looked at Ellie: "See? Strength determines everything."

Ellie looked at his back, with both admiration and a hint of uneasiness in her eyes: "Brother, when did you become so strong?"

Nike did not answer, but lowered his head and began to collect materials for the bone-breaking beast. His movements were skillful and calm, as if he had become accustomed to such a life.

Night in the wilderness

As night fell, the wilderness became more dangerous. The two found an abandoned stone house, lit a bonfire, and simply filled their stomachs with the meat of the bone-crushing beast.

"Brother, will we stay here forever?" Ellie leaned against the wall and asked in a low voice.

Nike looked down at the cracks on the sword and said indifferently: "No. When I am strong enough, we will go back."

"Go back?" Ellie was a little surprised, "But... they don't welcome us..."

Nike raised his head, and his blue eyes looked particularly cold in the firelight: "By then, I don't need their welcome. They just need to be afraid."

Ellie opened her mouth and wanted to say something, but finally closed it. She knew that Nike had made a decision, and all she could do was follow him.

There was a low roar of the beast outside, and the firelight jumped on the wall of the stone house, illuminating Nike's face. He closed his eyes and leaned against the wall to rest, but the sword in his hand never loosened. He knew that this was just the beginning.

Plan and determination

The next morning, Nike took Ellie out of the stone house. They walked along the border of the wilderness, avoiding several dangerous beast nests. On a high slope, Nike stopped and looked down at the plain in the distance.

"What is that?" Ellie pointed to a dark shadow in the distance, with doubt and fear in her voice.

Nike narrowed his eyes. It was an area where monsters gathered. It was dark and seemed to be guarding something. His eyes gradually became sharp: "That's our target."

"Target? But we can't even deal with the bone-breaking beast. How can it be possible..." Ellie's voice was full of panic.

Nike turned his head to look at her, his tone calm but full of power: "I will become stronger. I will let the whole world understand that the dark system does not need to look up to the light system."

Ellie looked into his eyes and suddenly felt a tremor in her heart. This brother she was familiar with seemed to become strange and scary at a certain moment. But at the same time, she also felt an unprecedented sense of security.
