Chapter 7 - Panic and pretenses

The grand mansion of **Wyatt Felix Lim** was in chaos. Wyatt paced back and forth in his study, his face pale, beads of sweat dotting his forehead. His trembling hands betrayed his growing anxiety. The call he had just received from the father of his mistress's fiancé had left him shaken—**Philip Dale Carter** was dead, assassinated in a manner so precise it left no room for doubt. This was no random attack; it was a calculated execution.

"What do I do?" Wyatt muttered to himself, running a hand through his graying hair. His mind raced, unable to settle on a course of action. He felt the walls closing in, the weight of his past sins pressing down on him. He was used to controlling others, but now, he was the one caught in the web of fear.

Meanwhile, Sarah watched her father from the shadows, her expression impassive. She took a certain satisfaction in seeing him unravel, his carefully constructed facade crumbling under the pressure. But she had no time to linger; she had a role to play.

Sarah returned to her day job, her disguise impeccable. She was **Sarah Fortex**, secretary to **Im Jae Wong**, the enigmatic CEO of **Wong Corporation**. Jae was one of her mother's most trusted allies, though he remained unaware of Sarah's true identity as Fenn Isabel Fortex's daughter. She preferred it that way, keeping her dual life a secret from all but her family.

As she entered the sleek, modern building of Wong Corporation, her eyes narrowed slightly upon spotting **Kristina Crystal Lorre**. Kristina, always seeking attention, was attempting to flirt with Jae. But Jae was as cold as ever, his focus solely on his business.

Sarah maintained her composure, walking past them with her usual grace. She entered Jae's office, carrying a stack of documents. "Sir, here are the sales reports, and I've also updated your schedule for the week."

Jae looked up briefly, his expression neutral. "Thank you, Sarah. Just leave them on my desk."

Before Sarah could turn to leave, Kristina stormed into the office, her eyes blazing with jealousy. She confronted Sarah, her voice shrill and accusing. "What are you doing here? You don't belong here, pretending to be something you're not!"

Sarah stood calmly, her face betraying no emotion. She maintained her innocent facade, her gaze steady on Kristina. "I'm just doing my job, Miss Lorre."

Kristina, desperate to provoke a reaction, grabbed Sarah's hand, twisting it slightly. "You're nothing but a fake, pushing me around like you own the place!"

Kristina gave Sarah a small shove, trying to make it seem like Sarah had pushed her first. She stumbled back, feigning shock. "Did you see that? She pushed me!"

Sarah remained calm, her eyes cold but her face serene. "I didn't push you, Miss Lorre. Please, let's not cause a scene."

Kristina, sensing her plan might backfire, called out to Jae. "Mr. Wong, did you see what she did?"

Jae, without looking up from his documents, responded in his usual detached manner. "You can go, Sarah."

Kristina's face turned red with frustration, her plan to humiliate Sarah backfiring. Sarah, still calm, gently freed her hand from Kristina's grip and gave a polite nod. "Thank you, sir."

As she left the office, Sarah couldn't help but smirk inwardly. She had mastered the art of patience and knew how to play the long game. Kristina might have thought she had the upper hand, but in the grand scheme, Sarah was always several steps ahead
