Chapter 80 - 79

Mark's muscles were tense, and he was very confused while taking a defensive posture.

Aren't all the Ice Abyss beasts only beasts? Why does this Ice Abyss beast look so smart?

The little Ice Abyss beast tilted its head, and its black eyes looked at him curiously, and it whimpered. The little girl hiding behind Mark grabbed the corner of his clothes in fear, and her fingertips turned white due to nervousness.

Mark tried to communicate with the little Ice Abyss beast in a calm tone: "We... have no ill intentions." He slowed down his speech, trying to make his voice sound less threatening, and carefully observed the reaction of the little Ice Abyss beast.

The little Ice Abyss beast tilted its head, and it didn't seem to understand what Mark meant. It still cried "woo woo woo" and took a step forward. Although it is small in size, its claws are sharp and glowing with cold light, which makes people dare not underestimate it. The moonlight shines on it, and its scales reflect the faint light, adding a bit of mystery. The surrounding trees swayed in the night wind, making a rustling sound, as if they were also accompanying the tense atmosphere.

The little Ice Abyss beast suddenly stretched out its claws, pointed at the piece of meat left by the girl in the corner of the cabin, and then pointed at its mouth, making a "woo woo woo" sound again. It repeated this action with a hint of anxiety in its eyes.

The little girl poked her head out, gently tugged at the corner of Mark's clothes, pointed at the piece of meat, and then pointed at the little Ice Abyss beast, signaling Mark to hand the piece of meat to it. There was a gleam of expectation in her eyes, as if she believed that this little creature had no ill intentions.

Mark hesitated for a moment. This little Ice Abyss beast did not look aggressive, but seemed to be asking for food. He slowly bent down, picked up the piece of meat, and threw it to the little Ice Abyss beast.

The little Ice Abyss beast jumped up suddenly, biting the piece of meat with its mouth, and its movements were swift and agile, which was completely different from its previous slightly clumsy posture. It swallowed the piece of meat in its mouth into its stomach, making a satisfied "smacking" sound. After eating, it licked its claws, then turned and ran into the woods, and its figure quickly disappeared in the dense bushes.

The little girl looked at the direction where the little ice beast ran away, her eyes full of curiosity and a little reluctance. She let go of Mark's clothes, walked to Mark, pulled his hand, pointed to the direction where the little ice beast disappeared, and made a sound of "Ah...Ah..." from her mouth, as if asking Mark whether the little ice beast would come back.

Mark touched the little girl's head and said softly: "It's full and should go back to its home." He didn't know whether the little ice beast would come back, but he hoped that the little girl would not be afraid. He took the little girl's hand and sat back by the fire.

The fire in the wooden house was about to go out, leaving only some red sparks flickering faintly. Mark added some firewood, and the firelight illuminated the wooden house again, and also illuminated the little girl's face. There was still some dirt on the little girl's face, but her eyes were unusually bright, like the stars twinkling in the night sky.

"What's your name?" Mark asked softly, although he knew that the little girl might not understand, but he still wanted to try.

The little girl raised her head, looked at Mark, shook her head, then pointed at herself, and pointed in a certain direction outside the house, making a series of crisp syllables, like the chirping of birds, and the rustling of leaves in the wind.

Mark didn't understand what the little girl said, but he could feel what she wanted to express. She seemed to be telling Mark that her home was in that direction.

Mark nodded to show his understanding. He pointed at the little girl, then at himself, and said, "My name is Mark."

The little girl tilted her head, looked at Mark, and repeated: "Mark... Mark..." Her pronunciation was a little strange, but it was close.

Mark smiled and touched the little girl's head. The little girl also showed a shy smile, revealing two cute little tiger teeth. The firelight reflected on her face, making her look even more lovely.

Mark got up, walked to the door, and looked in the direction where the little ice beast disappeared. The night was deep, the shadows of the trees were swaying, and the mountains in the distance looked even more majestic in the night. He took a deep breath, his heart full of expectations for the future and a hint of uneasiness. He didn't know what would happen next, but he knew that he had to protect the little girl and face the challenges of the future together. He turned around, looked at the little girl sitting by the fire, and whispered, "It's time for us to rest." The little girl nodded, got up and walked to Mark, holding his hand. Her hands were small and soft, but she held them tightly, as if she was seeking a sense of reliance and security. Mark took the little girl's hand, walked to the corner of the cabin, spread the animal skin, and prepared to rest. He let the little girl lie down first, and then he lay down beside her and closed his eyes. The cabin was very quiet, with only the crackling of the flames and the slight breathing of the two. The little girl held Mark's hand tightly, as if she had found support, and soon fell asleep. Mark patted the little girl's hand gently, a smile appeared at the corner of his mouth, and he slowly closed his eyes. Mark felt itchy on his face, he opened his eyes and saw the little girl was curiously playing with his eyelashes. The little girl saw that Mark was awake, giggled, and showed two small tiger teeth.
