Mark motioned for Carl to be quiet, because he noticed that there was a heavy metal door on the other side of the laboratory, which might lead to a deeper area. They crouched and moved along the wall of the laboratory, trying to avoid the sight of the surveillance camera. There was a control panel next to the metal door. Carl tried to crack the password, but a red light suddenly lit up on the panel, and a piercing alarm sounded throughout the laboratory.
"Damn it! They shouldn't have found us yet!" Carl gritted his teeth, his fingers flying quickly on the control panel, trying to lift the alarm as soon as possible.
The imprisoned Ice Abyss Beast roared and struggled to break free, and the figure in the glass container in the center of the laboratory began to tremble violently. The liquid in the container rolled violently, as if boiling.
Mark acted decisively and swung the ice sword to cut off several energy transmission pipes connected to the Ice Abyss Beast. A large amount of energy gushed out, forming dazzling arcs in the air, and the lights in the laboratory began to flicker.
"Hurry up, I can't hold on for long!" Mark shouted to Carl while resisting the impact of the energy turbulence.
Fine beads of sweat oozed from Carl's forehead, but his fingers moved faster. He took a deep breath and entered the last line of code into the control panel.
"It's done!" Carl roared, and the metal door made a dull "click" sound and slowly opened.
Mark didn't even look at the door behind him, and cut off the last energy pipeline with a backhand sword, then turned and rushed into the open metal door.
Carl followed closely behind, and the two quickly disappeared behind the metal door.
The metal door slowly closed, and the alarm in the laboratory was still echoing. The imprisoned Ice Abyss Beast roared angrily, as if angry at the two intruders. The figure in the glass container in the center of the laboratory gradually regained calm as the energy supply was cut off.
The metal door closed silently behind him, cutting off the flashing red lights and deafening alarms in the laboratory. Mark took a deep breath and said to Carl in a low voice: "Lock the door and don't let those guys catch up."
Carl nodded. He operated the control panel skillfully, his fingers jumping between the buttons. After a few seconds, the indicator light on the control panel turned green.
"Done." Carl said, put away the device, and looked up at the environment in front of him.
This is a long and narrow corridor. The walls are made of cold metal. There is a dim light on the ceiling at intervals, barely illuminating the road ahead. The air is filled with the smell of disinfectant, mixed with a faint smell of blood, which is disturbing.
Mark used a flashlight to shine around and whispered: "It seems that we have made the right choice. This should be closer to our goal." "I hope so." Carl said, observing the surroundings vigilantly.
The two of them slowed down their steps and moved forward cautiously along the corridor. There is a heavy metal door at intervals on both sides of the corridor, and the doors are marked with strange symbols and numbers.
"This looks like some kind of experimental area." Carl pointed to the symbol on one of the doors and said, "I've seen similar symbols in the database of the institute. It seems to be related to genetic modification."
Mark didn't say anything, but just quickened his pace. He knew that time was running out. They had to find the target as soon as possible and leave this hellhole. After walking through a long corridor, there was a fork in the road ahead, with two corridors leading to the left and right. "Which way?" Carl asked.
Mark didn't answer. He shone the flashlight on the two corridors and carefully observed the marks on the ground. "Left." Mark pointed to a shallow scratch on the ground in the left corridor and said, "Someone passed by here, and it shouldn't have been long." The two turned to the left corridor and continued to move forward. At the end of the corridor was a huge metal door. There was no sign on the door, only a black screen.
"What the hell is this place?" Mark looked at the door with a frown.
"Go in and take a look." Carl said, facing his face to the screen, and after a few seconds, the words "Authentication Passed" appeared on the screen. The metal door made a dull sound and slowly opened to both sides. Behind the door was a spacious room, with a huge culture chamber in the center. The chamber was filled with light blue liquid, and a humanoid creature could be vaguely seen floating in it. "Found it!" Mark looked at the culture chamber, and a gleam of light flashed in his eyes. He walked quickly to the front of the culture chamber and carefully observed the situation inside. Carl walked to Mark's side, looked at the humanoid creature in the culture chamber, and said in surprise: "This is..."
"Captain???!!!"
The humanoid creature in the culture chamber turned out to be exactly the same as the captain!!!
