Mark followed Carl's footsteps, and the two slowly moved forward in the ice valley. The wind and snow seemed to have sensed their determination and gradually weakened, allowing the sun to shine through the clouds and onto them. Mark's mood was complicated, with both fear of the unknown and a desire to survive.
They passed through an ice forest eroded by wind and snow, and the icicles flashed colorful light under the sunlight, like a fantasy in a fairy tale world. Mark couldn't help but slow down his pace, his eyes were attracted by these beautiful icicles. He reached out and gently touched the icicles, feeling the biting cold.
"Be careful, these icicles are very fragile." Carl turned back and reminded.
Mark nodded, retracted his hand, and continued to follow the rescuer. Their footsteps left two deep footprints on the snow, as if they were traces of life, which were particularly eye-catching on this silent ice field.
"How did you find me?" Mark couldn't help asking.
Carl raised his hand and showed Mark a cube with several red dots flashing on it.
"The captain gave me a tracker that can sense your life signal. We have been looking for you until the signal becomes strong enough."
Who is your captain?
Mark felt a chill in his heart. Why are these people looking for him? Mark silently fell behind the rescuer a few steps.
Carl looked at Mark strangely and said
The captain is the captain!
Mark was speechless for a moment. He thought Carl was a little strange. A person suddenly appeared in this icy and snowy place without enough protective equipment. He was a person full of contradictions.
They continued to move forward until they came to an ice lake. The lake was covered with a thick layer of ice, and the flowing lake water was faintly visible under the ice. The sun shone on the ice, reflecting a dazzling light, forcing Mark to squint.
"We have to cross this lake." Carl pointed to the other side of the ice lake, "There is a temporary camp there where we can rest."
Mark nodded. He walked onto the ice carefully, and every step was extremely cautious. The ice made a creaking sound under his feet, which accelerated his heartbeat.
Suddenly, there was a low roar from under the ice, and the entire ice surface began to shake. Mark's face turned pale in an instant, and he realized that the ice might break.
"Run!" Carl shouted loudly.
The two ran on the ice with all their strength, and the ice kept breaking under their feet, and the lake water poured out from the cracks. Mark's heart was full of panic, and he knew that they had to leave this dangerous ice surface as soon as possible.
Finally, they rushed to the other side, and the ice broke completely behind them, and the lake water rushed out. Mark gasped, and he felt that his heart was almost jumping out of his chest.
"We have to leave here quickly." Carl said, "The cracking of the ice lake may attract ice beasts."
Mark nodded, they had no time to rest, they had to keep going. They crossed the ice lake and came to an ice field. The ice field was covered with large and small ice hills, and the ice hills flashed silver light in the sun.
They walked along the path between the ice hills, and every step seemed extremely difficult. The wind between the ice hills was particularly strong, and the wind and snow almost made it impossible for them to open their eyes. Mark followed Carl closely, knowing that they could only survive by relying on each other.
They walked for a long time until it got dark and the snow and wind gradually stopped. Carl found a sheltered ice hill and decided to rest there.
Carl took out some dry food and water from his backpack and handed them to Mark. Mark ate voraciously, and he felt his strength gradually recovering.
"We need to spend the night here," Carl said, "tomorrow morning, we will continue to move forward and find a way out of the frozen hell."
Mark nodded.
It was late at night, the snow and wind on the ice field stopped, and the starry sky looked particularly clear. Mark looked at the starry sky, and an inexplicable emotion surged in his heart.
He closed his eyes and let his consciousness drift on this silent ice field.
