Chapter 6 - Drunken rampage

The Book of Life.

This is the belief that the stories of the lives everyone and those to come over the centuries to come has been recorded, or etched in stone, before the exist of anyone.

In other words, the Book of Life is a record of everyone's fate. One that can't be changed.

But what if said Book was in your hands? What if the book precipitated a terrible fate approaching you? Would you not try to rewrite your fate?

That was what Kuyo desired, because his death was coming, sooner than it does with most.

'I DIED'

'FIN'

He didn't want those words to come true at all. It was a fate he did not need nor want. But this was his fate. How could he stop it?

Notably, Kuyo was a person who could never achieve his goals. Be it avoiding his father, or not being attacked by Morikawas group. Those were mere pipe dreams to him. Because no matter what he does, he goes through what he is fated to go through.

Kuyo: It's all set in stone...

That's why he was someone who never resisted. He never tried to change his fate. Maybe it was a testament to his capability, or rather it was a testament to his lack of self-confidence.

He knew what would happen, and realistically all he could do was wait for his fate to approach him. At least in the middle of it all, his mother wouldn't be their to witness it at all.

Kuyo: Good grief. Now we wait...

And so he continued waiting. For a few minutes and more, nothing happened. He began wondering when he would die, and so, he checked through the book again.

Kuyo: The person came in at around 6, why though? It makes me wonder who it was that shot me...

Then it hit him.

It was a Friday that day. Most people came back early from work. Wait, why did he assume that the killer had a job. Maybe, this was too familiar...

Kuyo: He's coming home late at that time. Obviously to go drinking...

Then the few dots connected. Who was gonna shoot couldn't have been more obvious.

Creak!

He could hear a doorknob turning. It was the one to his door. Then he remembered something.

Kuyo: The killer didn't break in. So it's really is---

??: Dammit, who's here...¿

By that opened door, a man appeared. He had a terrible posture, and he carried something in his hand. It was a glass bottle. And that item solidified Kuyos belief.

Kuyo: I never thought it would be you...

Lie, he never thought it would be impossible.

A few minutes earlier, he read the book again, specifically the page where he 'died' on.

'After 6pm, while I was in my room, someone entered the house.'

'His words couldn't be understood'

'Bang'

'Then a few minutes later, I heard glass breaking. Along with that incoherent voice.'

'Then, soon enough --Bang!

'I was shot''

'I died.'

'FIN'

Although there was no mention of the killer, there were X clues that led him to the killer.

First, was the fact that he 'entered' the house and didn't break in. That meant the killer wasn't a stranger.

Second, was the incoherent voice he heard. He couldn't identify it at all. However, when he heard glass breaking, it was clear what the state of the killer. He was on a drunken rampage.

Lastly, the time he arrived.

It was after 6pm, which was a strange time to arrive on a Friday. Most people leave early for work. Until he remembered that there was a person in the house who always came home late. Most likely doing whatever it was that lead them to the situation before him.

From all his life experience before his death, he could only accused one person.

Kuyo: ... Dad!

He could only hear his father grumbling.

He wasn't even looking at Kuyo. He was totally drunk.

Dad: What... ya lookin at me for, huuuuuuuuuh?

Kuyo: Kh!

To be completely honest, Kuyo was scared shitless. Having his father as his soon-to-be killer wasn't outrageous, but he feared it more than anything. And that fear was like a gag deep in his throat preventing him from speaking.

Dad: Dammit... Answer me!

Then, the moment of truth came, and his father reached behind his back.

Kuyo knew what it was. He could only stand in fear, unable to run. If he died it would be his fault for never resisting against his father. Now, he couldn't even fight against the despair of this life-or-death situation in front of----

Bang!
