I'm planning to make my novel interactive by involving readers directly in shaping the story. After each chapter, I'll host a poll in a Discord server where readers can vote on key decisions the characters make. These choices will influence not only the main character but potentially others, like an emperor, a pet, or even minor characters.
For example, if a character confesses their love to the main character, the poll options could be:
1. Confess they love them back.
2. Shut them down harshly.
3. Say they need more time to think.
4. Deflect with a joke to avoid answering.
5. Reveal they love someone else instead.
6. Ask if the confession is a prank or test.
7. Respond with confusion, claiming they didn't notice the feelings.
8. Accept the love confession but suggest staying friends for now.
9. Run away without responding.
10. Challenge them to prove their love through an action or task.
11. Kill them
The main character perceives the collective decisions of the readers as a "voice in their mind," guiding their actions. After the votes are in, I'll write the next chapter based on the chosen outcome. Since I don't have a rigid plot, this approach lets the story evolve unpredictably with reader participation.
