It was the middle of the night. A young boy of average height and fair complexion was sleeping peacefully on his bed.

Suddenly, he woke up. He had a perplexed expression on his face. It was as if he couldn't recognize his surroundings.

The last thing he could remember was going to sleep after studying for his semester exam the next day. He was a college student studying Electronics and Communication Engineering. It was his his final year of college and he was determined to earn good marks in his exam.

He got up from the bed and took a look around his surroundings. It was quite alien to him. The room was quite small with a table and chair by the single window in the room. Opposite to the chair was a modest cupboard with the door that was partly damaged.

Looking at this quite shaby environment, the only thing the boy could think, " What a dump! How the hell did I end up here?"

It was at this moment that he felt an awful lot of pain in his head.

He fainted.

An hour later. The boy's POV.

The boy had fallen on the ground when he fainted. Now, he slowly woke up and sat on the ground trying to breathe and calm down.

Mysteriously, his headache was gone. Strange memories came to his mind, memories that he had not previously experienced himself. It was like he was a spectator seeing something happening to someone else. But, now at least he knew where he was. He was an orphan and this was his room at the orphanage he lived at.

It was called the Wool's orphanage.

His name was Alexander Gaunt and he was eight years old. He lived a pretty ordinary life uptill now. But, now, in a not so ordinary manner, he, a simple 21 year old college student, had replaced the young boy's consciousness or maybe merged with him.

He thought, "This is somehow like those isekai anime I used to watch during my free time. But, one thing comes to mind- the name of the orphanage. Isn't it the same as that orphanage in the Harry Potter series of books and films? Nah! It must be just a coincidence. Nothing more than that."

A few days later.

A few days had passed since he woke up in this new world. Today, it was the 2nd of January 1990. He had spent the last few days getting to know the people in the orphanage. There were a few other orphans who stayed there. Along with them, there was the matron of the orphanage,Mrs Ada Schmidt and the caretaker Mr Ben Hatt.

He was particularly impressed by Mrs Schmidt. She was a kind and caring lady who took care of the children in the orphanage.

Apart from getting to know the people in his life, he also spent some time looking up books and reading newspapers in the local library in order to gauge what was different from the world he came from.
