I met Alexander at a coffee shop on campus, feeling a mix of emotions as I saw him waiting for me. We hugged briefly, and then sat down at a table.
As we sipped our coffee, Alexander asked me about my life, about what I had been up to since we last saw each other. I told him about Jack, about how we had met and started dating.
Alexander listened intently, asking questions and making supportive noises. As we talked, I couldn't help but feel a sense of comfort and ease with him. It was like no time had passed at all.
But as the conversation went on, I started to feel a sense of unease. Alexander was being friendly and charming, but I could sense an undercurrent of tension beneath the surface.
As we finished our coffee, Alexander looked at me seriously. "Sophia, can I ask you something?" he said.
I nodded, feeling a sense of trepidation. "What is it?"
Alexander hesitated before speaking. "I was wondering if you ever thought about me after we broke up," he said. "If you ever wondered what could have been."
I felt a surge of emotions as I looked at him. I had thought about him, of course. I had wondered what could have been.
But as I looked into his eyes, I knew that I had to be honest with him. "Alexander, I did think about you," I said. "But I've moved on with my life. I'm happy now."
Alexander looked disappointed, but he nodded understandingly. "I'm glad you're happy," he said. "You deserve it."
As we parted ways, I couldn't help but feel a sense of closure. I had needed to see Alexander again, to confront my feelings and move on with my life.
And as I walked back to my dorm, I felt a sense of peace wash over me. I knew that I had made the right decision, that I had chosen the right path.
But as I opened the door to my dorm room, I was surprised to see Jack sitting on my bed, looking concerned.
"Hey, how was your coffee date with Alexander?" he asked.
I smiled, feeling a sense of relief. "It was fine," I said. "We just caught up and talked about old times."
Jack nodded, looking thoughtful. "I'm glad you're okay," he said. "I was worried about you."
I felt a surge of love for him as I looked into his eyes. "I'm fine," I said. "And I'm glad I have you in my life."
As we hugged and kissed, I knew that I had made the right decision. I had chosen Jack, and I was happy.
But little did I know, my encounter with Alexander was only the beginning of a new chapter in my life. One that would bring its own set of challenges and opportunities, and would force me to confront my feelings and make some tough choices.
As I pulled back and looked into Jack's eyes, I knew that I was ready for whatever came next. I was ready to face the future, and to see where my heart would take me.
And as we sat down on the bed together, holding hands and looking into each other's eyes, I knew that I was exactly where I was meant to be. I was home, and I was happy.
But as I looked into Jack's eyes, I saw something there that gave me pause. A flicker of doubt, a hint of uncertainty.
And I knew that our love story was far from over. In fact, it was only just beginning.
