Chapter 33 - vii.

Ruhaan double checked the phone and nodded slowly at her, " You're right, but how did it broke? "

" That's the real matter. Amidst the ruckus, we didn't even ponder once, how Vihaan got that badly injured. How the hell did he even get there? And now, his phone is in this condition. It doesn't seem like a normal accident. Kuch toh gadbad hain. " Krishnangi tried to switch-on the phone.

(Something's amiss)

" Let's take it to the repairing shop, but before that, you should go and have some rest. Kal raat se tum bhi toh thik se soyi nahin na. I'll be here with Vihaan in the meantime. " Krishnangi opened her mouth to protest.

(Since last night, you haven't slept properly either, have you?)

" Go to your apartment chicken eyes, have a bath, eat something, take a nap and then we'll solve this matter. " Ruhaan ended their conversation and trodded back without waiting for her reply.

Krishnangi too, walk to the parking lot, where her scooty is parked, " Chicken eyes? " she turned around and raised her eyebrows.

" Thanks for being there for- Vihaan. You're a nice human being. " Ruhaan gave her a small smile.

" Wish, I could say the same for you Ruhaan. " she waved at him and revved off to her place, while he stood there watching her, until she disappeared from his line of sight.

" Haalat bohut buri hain iski sir ji. It'll take almost two weeks, to get this thing working again. " Both Ruhaan and Krishnangi came out of the shop, disappointment lingering in the air.

(It's condition is very bad sir)

They've both came to this shop, to get Vihaan's phone repaired, Rutuja and his parents are with Vihaan in the hospital. The broken phone was kept a secret between the two.

" Now ? " Krishnangi pressed her forehead.

" I don't know what we're going to do now. But, I'm going to find out what happened last night, by hook or by crook. " Ruhaan felt a gentle touch on his arm. He looked down, to find a pair of orbs blazing out fiery determination.

" We are going to find out, together. Whoever is responsible for what happened to Vihaan, will not be let off so easily. " the need to find out the truth had diminished the distance between them. For that moment, they'd forgetten about the burning hatred towards each other.

He nodded, " Let's do a close examination of the place, where you'd found him. "

They went to the place in Krishnangi's scooty. By this time, everyone was aware of Vihaan's condition.

On the way, Ruhaan had to answer a lot of people about the accident. They're just about to start their investigation when they heard a throat clearing.

" I'm so sorry for what happened to your brother, Sharma. " Ruhaan kept his eyes low, but nodded curtly. Krishnangi walked to the spot, noticing a middle aged man conversing with him.

" Par kya kar saktein hain, your brother had always got that habit of poking his nose in other's business. This was bound to happen. Sambhal kar rakho usko. Tame the curiosity in him, woh kya hain na, curiosity can kill the cat. " the man laughed and gave an evil smirk to Krishnangi, " I'll take your leave now then, young man. Do remember my words. " he walked away.

(But what can we do? Your brother has always had the habit of poking his nose into other people's business. This was bound to happen. Take care of him. Control his curiosity, after all, curiosity can kill the cat)

" Who's he? My gut feelings are saying that he's suspicious. " Ruhaan sighed angrily and slumped in the nearby wooden bench.

" Rastogi, my dad's friend turned rival. Once, he used to work with dad in this medical college, then that greedy bastard got involved in an illegal human organ racket. Iss wajah se, 5 saal jail bhi ho chuki hain and the irony is, he blamed my father for his damned fate. Cause dad didn't tolerate his inhuman morals. From then onwards he wanted nothing else, but turnish dad' name. " Ruhaan got up and dusted his pants.

(That's why he's already spent 5 years in jail)

" Don't know how did he managed to get a bail. He should've rot behind the bars only. Okay, leave all that and resume what you're doing. " and he went back to his search.

But she couldn't wrap her mind around the man's words. Her instincts were screaming something at her, that she's not able to decipher. Sighing, she got down to her work too.

Time flows by and it was evening, still they couldn't make out anything. Tired and fraustrated Krishnangi leaned back on a tree, when she heard a crack sound.

Turning around, she noticed a made-in switch, camouflaged on the trunk of the tree. Shocked she called out to him, " Ruhaan ? "

" What happened? "

" There's a switch, or more like a lever, see. " he look at it closely.

" Yes, it is a lever. Lever? What's the need of it in- " Ruhaan can finally connect the dots, " -wait. A lever- on and off, so open and close- a door. A freaking door. " Krishnangi didn't need to be told twice.

" You mean, there can be a hidden door somewhere? " he nodded, tensed, " Then we should find it and- "

" No, not today. It's already evening. We won't be able to find it, in this dim light. Let's do this tomorrow. " they make their way to the medical room, when they're stopped by slow claps.

" So, this is your important work huh? Roaming around with this chick- oops your chicken eyes? " Nia folded her arms across her chest, " There, your parents are asking for you. I've been looking out for you, but here, you are. Having merry time with her. Great! "

Ruhaan tiredly tried to make her understand, " It's not like that baby. Come let's meet mom and dad. "

Nia ignored him and marched to Krishnangi and whispered viciously, so that he didn't hear a word, " Trying to get what you've been wanted for so long huh? Did you forget what happened that night? Want me to remind you again? "

Krishnangi glared at, " Fuck off with your boyfriend and I won't bloody care. "

" Good for you. Cause, he's out of your reach. " smiling, she walked back to Ruhaan and pecked his cheek.

" What did you say to her? " he asked seriously, glancing at Krishnangi, who looked away the second their eyes met.

" Giving condolences, afterall she'd been very close to Vihaan too. " he nodded skeptically but nevertheless walked back with Nia.

Krishnangi took a deep breath, noticing both of them retreating. Smiling painfully she muttered to herself, " Pyaar bhi uss insaan se kar baithi hu, jisse pyaar kya matlab hi nahin pata. "

(I have fallen in love with someone who doesn't even understand the meaning of love)
