The guards had circled up around the platform, cutting off any possible route of escape for them to take.
Jack raised his staff again, haunching and spreading his arms and legs in a defensive pose.
"Okay," he muttered, looking about at all the guards.
"I'm officially out of my depth here."
Olaf looked up at him rather hopefully.
"Can you do that frost thing again?" he asked.
Anna started, throwing and moving her head left and right between both the strange looking male and Olaf.
"What frost?"
Jack paused for a while, glancing at Anna.
He looked a little confused and Anna briefly wondered why he seemed like her question was out of point.
"I… I think so? But why---?"
Olaf got down from Anna's arms and kicked at Jack's left leg, "Ask questions later. Look!"
The guards were already moving up the short steps of the platform with their heavy boots thudding against the wooden steps.
Jack took a deep breath, flexing then wounding his fingers around his staff.
"Here goes nothing."
Not jerkily at all this time, he slammed the base of his staff against the platform, hitting it in a tad of a forceful way.
Immediately, a tripping or rather, running wave of frost moved out, spreading and coating the steps in ice, sending the first few guards slipping and tumbling to the ground.
"Run!" Jack shouted, grabbing Anna's hand.
Anna held tightly to Olaf as the three of them bolted toward the edge of the platform.
With the crowd running helter skelter, there was just enough space so it wasn't all that hard running across the square.
Above them Kristoff roared, "After them!"
Looking at the three people dodging a handful of his men coming from the left, Kristoff dragged his right hand down his face---- the same face that was presently red in anger.
"You fools!! Get them. Bring them to me alive!!!"
His voice was practically bellowing now and his chest was huffing.
There was no way he would let them escape.
As the trio more like sprinted toward the edge of the square, Jack threw a quick glance, over his shoulder to look behind.
Distracted, he stumbled then, taking four steps so quickly and twistedly that the sole of his feet completely left touch with the earth and he fell forward.
But…
His staff flew out of his left hand, then bent, hooking his waist with its curved top and pulling him up, successfully stopping its weilder's face from kissing the ground before returning to his hand again.
More and more guards were pouring in from every direction.
"This is bad," he said, terribly struggling to catch his breath.
"It's about to get worse!" Olaf squeaked, pointing ahead.
Jack turned to face forward again only to see another group of guards blocking the path they were about to follow and running towards them.
Olaf, Anna and Jack stopped running, keeping their backs to each other as they each faced three different directions seeing the guards encircle them and move closer.
But that was not the problem.
No. Definitely not.
A large shadow moved above them, swallowing their shadows and those of the guards till they were none existent.
Jack watched the shadow keep stretching and raised his head up.
"What. Is that?"
