After being reborn into the world of One Piece I decided to start training with my new abilities as soon as I possibly could. I didn't want to rely on the system to make me stronger I wanted to earn it the old fashioned way. Through hard work.
The place I started out at was an orphanage in a rural village on a remote island. This suited me just fine as being in a secluded location and basically being alone allowed me to go to the forest to train as much as I wanted without anyone bothering me. I trained the abilities the system gave me the best I could, but I also trained physical strength and conditioning. After about 17 years of training I'd become pretty proficient in the Niko style martial arts I learned from the system. Though, while the system gave me the knowledge of the style, I still had to train my body to actually be able to pull off the techniques. As I was mostly alone I didn't really have a chance to test out my Adaptation ability that allows me to adapt to any damage I receive. That's fine I figured it'd be a while until that ability paid off anyway. The sword I received was Samehada from Naruto, it'd been diligently training with it but it was still difficult for me to use it for more than a few minutes without my stamina being drained, so I still had a ways to go until I mastered my abilities.
Despite that, I was planning on starting my journey out to the Grand Line. Luffy and Ace both set sail for adventure at 17 so I figured I should do the same. I was getting excited, there were nearly endless possibilities for what kind of adventure I could have. I didn't have any big goals in mind, I'm more of a go with the flow kinda guy. I think I'll just go out for fun and see what happens along the way. After all, I'd gotten the opportunity to live in one of my favorite anime worlds, I'm not going to play it safe or try to have a normal life like I did before. I've got a new life and I'm going to live it to the fullest! Just as I was about to set out the system gave me a notification.
"Congratulations! You've earned the achievement; Train for 17 years and set off on an adventure! You'll be rewarded with another draw of the Anime Lottery System!"
"Really? Already? I'm surprised I thought you said this was set to the hard difficulty? Getting new abilities has been pretty easy so far." I said.
"You say that now, but trust me from here in out the achievements will be fewer and further between. Plus the chance of a high quality draw will decrease after every drawing. Anyway let's get on with the drawing so you can get onto your adventure!"
"Congratulations! You got an ability from Bleach! It's Lieutenant Renji Abari's Zanpakuto Zabimaru!"
"Really? Sweet! I've always thought Zabimaru was a really cool sword with an awesome ability. It's definitely not as overpowered as a lot of the other Zanpakuto I could have gotten from Bleach but this is really cool."
Zanpakuto are swords wielded by soul reapers, used to fight evil spirits. They charged their forms based on their ability, and each had two transformations. Shikai and Bankai. Zabimaru's Shikai changed the swords form into a jagged blade that could extend and move like a bladed whip. The Bankai form changed it more significantly, it took the form of a giant skeletal snake with red fur around the neck and sections of bamboo going down to the handle. I always thought it looked so cool, being able to actually use it myself is a dream come true. Of course I won't have the same power level of Renji himself just because I have his weapon, but still I'm feeling a lot more confident with this in my hands.
I sent sail after the drawing, and after I had drifted far enough that the island was out of sight I'd made a dreadful realization. I had borrowed a boat from one of the fishermen in the village, and I'd packed a few days worth of food but I was missing something important. A map. Or a compass. I had no idea where I was or where to go. Come to think of it, I don't even know where the island I came from is in relation to the rest of the One Piece world.
The world of One Piece was divided into four seas, the East Blue, North Blue, West Blue, and South Blue. Those seas were divided by the Grand Line, a stretch of sea that extended around the entire world. The Grand Line is where I wanted to go eventually but I don't even know how to get there. I could even be there already. I have no idea where I am! Oh well no need to panic I'll just sail until I find land and I'll figure it out from there.
Several Days Later.
"Ok it's been a couple days since I've eaten the last of my food, and still I haven't caught a glimpse of an island. This might be bad, but still I'm not going to panic. I'll just go to sleep so I forget about how hungry I am and hopefully by the time I wake up I'll see land." I thought as I laid my head down to sleep. Later I was woken up by a bump to my head. I guess my ship had hit something.
"Finally! Solid ground!" I said jumping out of the boat. As my feet hit the ground I heard a deep rumble coming from my stomach. "Man I'm hungry I better go buy some food as soon as possible. Wait! I forgot I'm a poor orphan in this world. I don't have any money! I can't buy food without money!"
As I was worrying about my current predicament I stumbled across a gang of bandits. "Hey boy! Stop right there and give us everything you got!" A bandit said as he jumped out of the trees.
"Hey man I've been lost at sea. I don't have anything you could possibly want to steal. Why don't you just let me go?"
"Oh yeah? I bet those fancy swords would fetch a good price. Hand em over! And don't even think about trying anything! Our boss is a famous and notorious outlaw with a bounty on his head!"
"Oh! Really you're a criminal with a bounty on your head? How much?" I asked with my eyes lighting up.
"Uh, 300,000 berries." The bandit boss said somewhat taken back by my reaction to hearing he had a bounty.
300,000 berries isn't that much for a bounty, this guy must just be a small time thug. That being said it should at least be enough to get me some much needed supplies. "Oh! I've been waiting to say this! Roar! Zabimaru!" At my words my sword changed from a regular katana into the jagged whip sword of Zabimaru's Shikai form.
Seeing my sword change shape clearly shocked the bandits. I counted about 5 of them including their boss. I swung Zabimaru at them and it slashed all of them cutting them down in an instant. Of course, I didn't cut them deep enough to kill them. I'm trying to have a fun adventure here not become a cold blooded killer. But I did do enough damage to incapacitate them. I tied them up with a rope I had in my boat and drug them into town. Luckily there was a navy outpost there where I could turn them in for the bounty.
"Howdy! I got some guys here to turn in. The big guy there said he had a bounty of 300,000. Can I have some money please?" I said as I swung the doors open. The officers working there seemed a bit confused but took the bandits into custody before coming back to discuss my payment.
"Well I have good news and bad news. The good news is that this guy does have a bounty, the bad news is that it's actually only 30,000." The officer said showing me his wanted poster.
"Aw, that sucks. But still it's enough to buy some food at least. I need to buy some other supplies too. I got a bit lost at sea can you tell me where I am?" I asked the officer. By talking to him I figured out I've been in the West Blue this whole time and I was now on an island called Stack. After I'd finished asking him questions he asked me a few of his own.
"So you're a bounty hunter? Aren't you a little young?"
"I don't guess I'm a bounty hunter. I just needed some money."
"I see, so what's your name kid? It's standard Navy protocol to asked for identification when crediting a bounty." As he asked, it dawned on me that at no point during the last 17 years did anyone ever call me by name. Did they never give me one? I did spend a lot of time training maybe they gave me one and I never noticed. Either way I got to think of something to tell this guy. I can't use my name from my past life, I'll just have to make some up on the spot."
"My name is Buster D. Galileo." That name sounds dumb and made up, so I thought it'd fit in just fine in One Piece.
"Buster D. Galileo? Got it." The officer said writing my name down. As he was doing that another officer came up to the counter and said, "Hey kid, if you're trying to be a bounty hunter you should head over to the archipelago to the west of here. There's a pirate there with a bounty of 10 million berries. If you catch his entire crew you'll even get an extra million. What do you think? Can you handle it?"
"That'd be a nice chunk of change. Alright I'll go for it thanks!" I said excitedly as I ran out of the door.
After I'd left the first officer said, "You're cruel, sending that kid to his death. There's no way he gets out of there alive. The guy you sent him to is way too dangerous.
