Chapter 1 - WRAITH

Deep in the foggy valleys below the cloud cliff mountains, valleys which had tasted all forms of blood and essence from different types of people and beasts, powerful and weak had fallen deep within this valleys. And after centuries this valleys had been named by the younger generations as "THE GRAVEYARD OF THE GODS".

The powerful aura radiating from this place wasn't something to be trifled with, any cultivator below the soul birth realm should kiss their lives goodbye if they ever got caught in here.

And that could still only count as one of the many ways for one to loss their life in this valley, but with 'great danger comes great rewards' , so it is said in the cultivation world. This valley happens to be a home of resources for the cultivators, not just any cultivator tho , this is a home or a safe haven for darkness cultivators.

Countless millenniums of been bathed and soaked in blood of mighty beings, been baptized in the agony and sorrow of the weak beings, being soaked with the regrets of the unwilling, this legendary battle field on which many gods and demons fell had now become a home for wraiths and wandering spirits. It could be said to be the most quiet place on the planet but still the most noisy place on the planet.

Within this valley necromancers could be found wandering about the outer perimeters , searching for resources to improve their 'arts' and searching for more skeleton to refine into their own soldiers. Some could be seen just sitting and meditating. But one thing or rather an unspoken rule in this place was that noone dared to start a fight, everyone just went about their businesses.

It was said that deep within the valley, the corpses and spirits of some gods are still there lying in wait for worthy vessels to take over so they could once again venture into the world of the living.

Among the wraiths and wandering souls in the valley, some could be seen with a certain imprint on their incorporeal bodies , this imprints are left behind by weak cultivators who summoned them once and to reduce the output of essence in their next summoning they choose to imprint the skeleton or wraith that was summoned.

Deep within this valleys, a certain imprinted wraith kept wailing and wandering across the valley in the mist that didn't seem too different from it's appearance. The wraith blended perfectly with the environment and floated round and round without any sense of direction.

Few moments later a portal swirled round its head and it got swallowed away living behind the empty valley just for another wraith to take its place and continue the endless wandering like nothing happened.....

Profound palace Academy...

"Lynn: 20 points" the instructor announced as the class fell into an uproar. But the Lynn in question had a face of dissatisfaction. He just managed to summon an imprinted wraith which should be difficult for a spirit foundation realm cultivator like him.

"Instructor , but why only 20 points? An imprinted wraith should have earned me 35 points" he called out in protest

" Go back to your seat Lynn, Next!! " The instructor couldn't bother with explaining, how can a mere spirit foundation child question his judgement, what a joke! He turned his face back to his scroll and completely ignored the furious and powerless Lynn.

Lynn turned back to head to his seat only to realise the wraith was still coming with him, he gritted his teeth in rage as he smashed his fist into the chest of the wraith, although it was incorporeal and a fist wouldn't do anything to it, but it still burst into particles and vanished because Lynn let go of the spiritual energy he was using to hold it in the outside world.

Back in the valley, the wraith appeared and wandered around the area for a bit like it was confused or looking for something but later gave up and went back to its normal lifestyle like nothing happened.

Lynn continued class quietly without knowing that he had a particular scent on him that wasn't there before. The day went on normal and class came to an end.

Lynn walked home with his head drooped down, he had wanted to gather enough points so he could get enough credits to sign for another course because his mental realm wasn't good enough for necromancy.

One would question why he joined it in the first place, but his reason couldn't have been more ridiculous.

" She wouldn't even look at me anymore so there's no need to stay"

He said with a sigh of defeat. Yes, he joined the necromancy course because of a girl but ended up being rejected and subjected to bullying so he wanted to leave the necromancy department and choose something else.

He looked up towards the other buildings with a dreamy look in his eyes , before shaking his head dejectedly and continued on his way to his dorm.

The night came and he just laid on his bed while lost in thought, he didn't even notice the mist that kept gathering in his room till when he finally noticed , it was already too late, he breathed in heavily as he struggled on his last breath with unwilling eyes but there was nothing he could do, till he finally gave up.

The wraith he summoned earlier in class happened to be a wraith that was used for information gathering, the imprint on the wraith had the ability to mark any person the wraith in contact with then appear at their location when it needed to.

Unlucky Lynn marked himself unknownly and ended up delivering his life essences to the wraith.

The wraith vanished from the room and appeared back in the valley, it stood for some time before turning to wander away but this time it faced the inner region of the valley.

Something had changed with the wraith, but it wasn't obvious yet, it still moved around just like every other wraith but this time it got something the other wraiths have. 'instincts'

It could sense danger, it could sense rewards, and towards the inner region it could sense only rewards.

This doesn't mean any body can just venture into the inner regions of the valley, but for a wraith, the embodiment of pain, agony, sorrow, regret, death, darkness , the inner region could only be seen as a home to it.
