I whirled my pro-gamer chair backwards away from my computer, took flight towards my bed and landed on it with a plushy thud which wouldn't hurt a fragment of my behind.

I rolled my head to the side, gazing out through the window into the starry night might be helpful to clear my head up, but everything was stagnant— just like my life.

Well, life can be meaningless at some point and you begin to wonder: why am I still living through this hell?

The source of adrenaline for me had gone on an indefinite hiatus without giving his loyal readers heads up- or maybe he had been sucked into the black hole of depression— just like me.

The last chapter update of his book— BATTLE THROUGH HEAVEN had ended with a nerve wrecking cliffhanger where updated readers have been driven to an edge, unsure whether the main character had died or not.

It was the most anticipated battle all from the beginning of the book, but none was sure if the main character would sacrificed himself to save the world through his own suicide.

Anything could have happened in that moment and I couldn't wait any longer to get filled in on what happened next.

The book has been a healer for me, an addictive regiment that has driven me out of the teenage destructive pool of depression.

BATTLE THROUGH HEAVEN has been a daily dose of sunshine in my vantablack life since I found the masterpiece and now, my day of sunshine has been sizzled into hiatus.

As I laid there, a thought suddenly crossed my mind.

'Authors need motivation and maybe- just maybe…'

I sprung out of bed immediately, heading straight to my computer and flagged up the novel app with a quickened type on the search bar.

"I should give him some motivation." I muttered to myself with a smile.

I could be saving a life with my motivation other than unlocking chapters of his book.

I will call him out with the biggest gift!

I ran the console through the book's page, heading straight for the gift section. A small smile unwrapped like a present on my lips as I pressed on the most expensive gift item.

Legendary Heaven's Gate Key— $100,000

*Click!*

A female automated voice suddenly came to life after my purchase.

[What loyal fan you are to bless the author with such sacred gift]

A satisfactory smile continued to flag on my lips, burning the tip of my cheek a bit.

[Congratulations!]

For a moment, I felt like a hero. If the faceless author was to wake up the next morning, he'd definitely be elated at such a massive gift I had pressed against his neck.

That was enough pressure to feed my infested soul with more chapters; a mass release would be great as well.

I giggled and dashed into my bed again, filled with a new sense of hope and sowed expectation.

My name is Vincent Takahashi, a nineteen year old college voluntary dropout and a pro-gamer.

I could say my profession is being a beta tester for famous video game brands and trust me when I say the pay is to die for, but it doesn't amuse me a bit.

You see, I was born with a diamond spoon— if such exists.

My mom is the apparent heir to a trillion dollar group and my father used to be a renowned webtoonist until he went off the grid.

Now you see why a $100,000 band was easy to give out like a breeze. If only I could use all that money to get girls flocking around me like birds.

Sigh!

Maybe it's because of my ill look or it is just pure bad luck.

I have consistently been reading BATTLE THROUGH HEAVEN since the beginning of the year and I was so much attracted to reading the piece as I felt a huge sense of connection with the MC.

Sometimes, before I read a line from the book, I get a sheer feeling like I was there when the scenes were unfolding.

Someday, it feels like I wrote the scenes myself— perhaps, this is another level of immersion.

There are a few plots that doesn't sit well with me; like the suicidal death of the MC at the very beginning which might possibly reoccur at the ending game which could make the plot more subtle if it hadn't happened.

But then again, it made sense with time. But still, I would give anything to save that champ if I could.

Even if it means I have to pay the author a huge token to brand the book to my liking or perhaps have a fantastical element mess with my timeline to change his tale.

For a moment, I could have sworn I had closed my eyes for a second, but when they flashed open again; it was already morning.

One thing was sure, it wasn't the morning shine that woke me up, but instead, it was a voice; a very familiar one.

[What loyal fan you are to bless the author with such sacred gift]

"Reminiscing spamming an expensive gift, are we?" I muttered groggily with a cheap smile as I rolled to the other end of my bed.

[Your fan value has increased by a million point]

The voice continued.

[Congratulations!]

"No. 1 huh?!"

I sprung out of bed, my eyes lasered towards my computer which was switched on already, but behind my desk was the six year old brat my mom had with her nameless man, toying with my computer.

"KIRA!" I louder at her, seizing her up as he whirled the chair around quickly.

"You're awake, Vinny!" She grinned without a hint of fear in her eyes.

"What are you doing with my computer?" I demanded with a hoarse voice just to make her tremble.

But Kira was always made of steel around me— seemingly not fazed about whatever tone I used on her— she had no fear— none at all.

"Mom told me to relay a message for you which is;" she paused, readying herself to impersonate my mother. "You have thirty minutes to get yourself ready, Vincent. We are flying to Lanai-nai island for a one week family trip."

"I'd rather get sucked into hell than fly in the same jet with you!"

Kira shook her head slowly, her sleek ponytail bouncing gracefully.

"It wouldn't hurt to say you love me too." She said with a pout.

Yes, yes! Kira is an extremely cute little devil anyone wouldn't hate upon, but me— hell no!

She is the sole reason why my parents had to separate from each other, so why try to be rational with someone whose existence is a nuisance to me?

[You have received a special reward as the no. 1…]

Right! My mind flashed back to my computer.

That little witch had gifted the author again without my consent. It wasn't her first time, and this time, I will make sure it's her last.

My eyes hauled at her precious little fingers, a devious plan arousing in my head.

I shot out of my bed, aiming towards Kira, but she was two steps ahead of me as she slipped out of my room in a sleek motion, like she had projected every movement I was going to make beforehand.

"Argh!" I groaned in pain as I rammed into the door she had jammed before I could reach her.

Regaining my stance, I headed for my computer, carefully massaging my face to ease the pain.

"That little brat!" I cursed under my breath, sitting already to read the new notification.

I tried to move my console, but my computer screen had suddenly frozen.

I glanced at the Wi-Fi router. The curved bars that stand as its indicator had five solid curved bars.

"What the hell is happening?" I mouthed, turning back to my screen but it had turned blue with a whirlpool orbiting its surface.

Stretching my arm further to grab the mouse, the blue light from the screen glowed brighter, filling the whole room and forcing my eyes to shut close.

Everything seemed to happen in slow motion and before I knew what was happening, I could feel my body being dragged under.

My whole body, my whole weight was being pulled into a current that flooded into the screen of my computer.

"Kira, help!"

I screamed!

Before the current dragged me away, I stretched my hand to hold onto something, but the invisible force pulling wouldn't let go.

Within a flash, everything turned black and I felt nothing anymore.

The door slowly opened with Kira standing by the doorpost with a line carving a smile on her lips.
