Chapter 11 - Eleven

NINO

Fuck!

I didn't expect her to slump at the sight of a dead body. It was normal, I see people die everyday. But it seems she was not from this planet.

The room was still, the other girls ok the room whimpering and cowering in fear. A fraction of my anger was gone the moment the bullet found a home in his head. Bastard had some nerve talking like that in my presence.

"Anybody has anything else to add to what he said?"

The room remained silent as all their gazes remained fixed to the floor.

"That's what I thought— take the girl to one of the guest rooms and call the doctor." I turned towards the other man in the room. Instantly, he moved to carry her.

"The next time you do what you just did, you'll not even have yourself to blame." I directed towards Cordelia and walked out of the studio.

Cordelia was not under my mafia, she was just a regular worker I hired, but one with the knowledge of my true identity. Killing civilians was not my thing, but she might make herself the first.

"I demand to see Nino this minute!"

The voice was mad, filled with anger I've witnessed more times than I could count.

"You can't just barge in here demanding to see our don, you—"

"What the fuck is going on here?"

I was about to head to one of our warehouses when the sight of a commotion in my compound caught my attention. And Domenico was a part of it.

"You! You come to my city, use your authority however you like and you kill my people too?" His eyes blazed with anger, but mine held indifference.

"And what are you talking about? Haven't I abided by your rules since I stepped into this city? Or do I also need to seek permission from you to be authorising in my club or company?"

My tone was calm, enough to hint at the silent anger in it. The bastard had the nerve to step into my compound.

"Killing one of my own is also you abiding by my rules? You sent a headless body to his mother, how heartless can you be?!"

I stepped closer to him, making sure we were just inches apart from each other.

"It's funny how you still have the guts to step into my compound after sending a spy to infiltrate my establishment. I could kill you here."

"A spy? That's just wrong accusations!" His eyebrows were dipped into a frown as he spoke. Something about his expression just looked— confused.

"He had the emblem of the American mafia on him! How's that an accusation? You're trying to wage a war you'll end up losing, Domenico!"

"That young boy was no longer under my mafia. He was stripped that right months ago. I'm only here because of the woman you took her child. I'm about to have the government on me. I'm just here to warn you Nino. If this escalates further than this, you won't have only me to deal with."

He turned around and stormed out of the gates, his threat lingering in the air.

"How the hell did he enter the compound in the s

First place?" I turned towards Alejandro who was initially trying to get him to leave.

"We're sorry boss."

I turned around and walked into my car. They weren't worth my anger.

I pulled my car to a halt in front of the warehouse and fit down from the car. Different men guarded the entrance with guns strapped to their bodies.

I walked into the warehouse and my brother greeted me.

"You could've just let me handle this thing. There's no need to come here."

"I just needed to leave the house. Where are the goods?"

With a deep sigh, he shook his head slightly and led me towards the back of a truck. The back was opened and even before I could touch it, my eyesight served me.

Once inside, I pulled out a pocket knife and opened it, stabbing into the wrapped substance. White powder poured out from the tear, slipping to the ground.

I dipped my fingers into it, grounding the substance in-between my finger to feel it. It was exactly what it should be.

"Prepare it to be shipped to the client tomorrow. After that, we will be flying back home."

A smile stretched on his lips as he nodded his head in understanding.

"Finally, We're going back home."

I checked a few other shipments before deciding to call it a day. At a point during my drive back home, I contemplated going to the club to have a few drinks, but I decided against it. The sight of strippers would only make my thoughts go where they are not supposed to go.

Speaking of which— it's been almost 24 hours since the girl passed out. At one point I thought she was dead. Nobody should be out for that long just because they saw a dead body. I just hope she's okay mentally. Since when did I care about a girl?

I drove into the compound with the thoughts in my head, telling myself I didn't care. But walking into the house, I couldn't exactly tell how or when my legs began to move towards the guest room.

My eyebrows pulled into a frown. My mind and brain were telling me different things but my legs were doing something completely different. I stood in front of the door to the room that held her.

"Go back.."

The words rang in my head, but in response my fingers touched the doorknob and twisted it. I stepped into the room, glancing towards the bed, only to find it empty.

I frowned and was about to use my eyes to scan the room when the shadow of something incoming caught my sharp senses and I moved out of the way just in time for the lamp to miss my head.
