Chapter 1 - DEATH'S TOWER

DEATH'S TOWER.

A lovely work of architecture designed by the previous emperor, my father. It is a dark, tall tower standing high in the sky where it's height surpasses even the greatest moutnains and is truly a disturbing piece of art. Not even a single ray of light enters this tower. More than a 100 floors tall, with millions of rooms, filled with nothing but darkness. The only source of light that we get here is from the very few candles that are occasionally lit up in the corridors and that's barely 2 in a corridors with more minimum 15 rooms, so you can imagine how rare and scorching any amount of light can be to a prisoner who's well accustomed in living in this horrible place. Truly soul crushing but at least it lives well upto its name.

Only the worst of the worst kinds of criminals are imprisoned in this tower, which doesn't necessarily mean the most dangerous. Like if someone who spoke against the ruler would be imprisoned here for life. Their family never sees them again and they try to adapt to this misery. If an ordinary civilian were to be placed here, they would either commit suicide, or be eaten by the other prisoners, or would be consumed and killed by the darkness of this tower. I assure you, this prison is not for the weak hearted. Only those who are truly cold at heart, those who fear nothing or those who have lived and experienced more horrendous things and can adapt and live in such a dreadful place.

There are no guards but rather shadow like figures who you might mistake for a grim reaper but i can guarantee you they're much colder and much more terrifying. They are what becomes of prisoners who have survived in this tower for too long, and have remained loyal to it too. They ensure that no prisoner leaves. They're what I mean when I mention being "consumed and killed by darkness". They eat you, if you don't follow the proper regulations or if you're simply weak, but they tend to leave those ones to be hunted by the prisoners. Premium gore material.

I'm sure you must be wondering why I'm going on about such a gruesome place. The thing is, I've been imprisoned here on the charges of murdering more than 100,000,000 people and I'm a certified war criminal. I've also been charged for killing the current emperor's family and for planning the emperor's execution. And luckily, I have survived in this hell of a tower for 5 months and killed a few prisoners but no, I didn't eat them. That's gross. I killed because i was attacked and i had to show that i am not who should be attacked. I've starved alot though.

And finally, today is my execution day, or rather, today is the day when I'm thrown into a pit with top tier murderers and assassins, spies, snipers, who knows what kind of insane people, with the main motive to survive and to finish them all, be the last one surviving to get my revenge.

I'm sure you must've been wondering why I'm charged for murdering the emperor's family? "Didn't I mention that my father was the previous one? Who's the one right now? My brother? Did I killed my brother's family?!" No I didn't. My brother's not the emperor. None of siblings are ruling the land. The thing is that-

"HAN HYE-RIN has been called for being banished to The Shuffle! I repeat, HAN HYE-RIN has been for being banished to The Shuffle at the command of our magnimous emperor, his Majesty!"

Clanks and cackles roared in the whole tower. The prisoners started to slam their hands and laugh as if like never before, going ecstatic at the announcement. The bars of Hye-rin's prison opened and she walked out, her every movement being eyed by all the prisoners that surrounded her, the only protection being that they were still behind bars. Eyes, cackles, clinking of chains and shackles, howls.. all followed her as she walked down a billion steps of the tower. The dark figures remained still, for even for them it was the first time a prisoner was actually asked to leave this tower and enter the broad daylight.

Finally as she stepped out of the tower, she started to cry, not because of joy but rather how her eyes and body started to burn within the gaze of a light sun. Guards who stood there, waiting for her now started to escort her to the gateway to The Shuffle. She did not try to run, to escape, but rather cried as she walked gracefully alongside of the two guards who were quite gentle towards her. She had been once their general, the one they used to salute to and train with, the one that they now had to escort to one of the worst dimensions with 99% chance of death.
